Wow! I really really like this ... especially these lines.

He worries that her art will keep raising her up until one day she’ll look down and realize a paper salesman isn’t good enough for her.

She worries that she can never live up to the imagined relationship he longed for. She thinks the pedestal he puts her on is so high that the inevitable fall will break both of them.

I like the way you express these thoughts, and the resolution you give them in the next section.

Wow. I have just discovered this fic and I'm LOVING it! Really wonderful imagining of a different JAM universe, set in a fabulous city. Love love love what you're doing with the characters, and please give Simon his marching orders ASAP!

On another note, being Australian, I'm especially enjoying the change of setting. London suits them well, and I really like what you've done with Pam being an American resident there (of course she'd refer to a faucet rather than a tap!). I've contemplated what it would be like to pen a fanfic about Jim's mythical visit to Australia - one without him driving between Cairns and Alice Springs in one day for example! - so this has got me thinking even more. Seeing how you've successfully placed them in London, I can see it's more possible now.

I\'m so pleased that people both in and outside of the UK have responded positively to this story...cause I\'m kinda taking some liberties here ;) Re the faucet inclusion - I actually wrote \'tap\' first time round and then when I read it through, with my UK to US filtration glasses on, I spotted the oversight. Now...about your fic idea - have a bash at it. I love the idea of Jim driving along, admiring the stunning Aussie scenery, all the while missing Pam and wondering if she\'s married yet. *Sigh* Really, write it down, post it and join in the fun! Thanks for keeping your promise of more stories Talkative. I just love the way you write ... beyond just liking the stories you weave for these characters.

This imagining is so very sad, their hopeless beautifully expressed. These lines particularly spoke to me: "The base, messy truth of it is quite another. Being able to see his own want and curiosity reflected back at him is the most hollow sort of victory."

Oh my Colette - part two sooo lived up to my (very) high expectations. I just loved it, especially because you keep it real. That post-sex messiness is very rarely touched on, and you did it beautifully (oh God, TWSS!). You also managed to capture that dizzy, newly madly in love, lust-filled stage without being soppy. It's a tightrope you walk so skillfully.

I must also tell you that I was really looking forward to seeing how you finished this one. So much so, that as soon as I came in from work (it's Monday night where I am), I logged on to see if you'd posted part two yet; even before I put the kids dinner on (whoops, bad mother alert!). I rushed through the first read, and now have read it more slowly now the kids are fed, and getting to bed. I'll probably read it again before I get to bed.
