Just a guy with Jim and Pam on the brain, trying to get the song out of his head by singing it.
Jim/Pam Season 2 angst
The banter between them that accidentally gets serious feels VERY S2 JAM.
Oh, man. I really like the way you structured this one. It tells you so much about Pam and her fear of change and how she copes and how much she's given up because of that fear of change over the years.
Author's Response:
I’m going to be sad when you’re done with your read- through! I’m really enjoying going through these with you.
I had to invent a lot of backstory for this one, which I was always worried about. I generally preferred looking forward (despite how wrong I usually ended up being). I did like structure like this in a story, though- it was like having a solid foundation to build on.
Jim does what he intended on Casino Night.

This is Jim in late Season 2 in a nutshell. Well done.
I don’t know what it is about these two that loans itself so well to phone sex – maybe it’s easy to imagine them being a little braver without having to look at each other? – but this was… a really important addition to the Jam phone sex genre, let’s say? Yeah. Important addition. That's the euphemism for hott I'm going with.
Very fun to watch this scenario play out - it feels pretty underexplored.
Pam's awaiting the "Merger" (based on promos but mostly unspoiled).
Oh God. This is a really poetic look into Pam's mind in the run-up to The Merger, but jeez does this hurt.
"A treasure, all she had that he'd touched besides herself." YES.
Author's Response: I remember being unable to sit still this day, so I transferred my nervous energy to Pam. We’d seen the promo with them hugging and... yeah, it hurt a lot. I’m not sure I’m over it, heh.
I am always fascinated with the idea of seeing Jim and Pam through Karen's eyes - this is a solid exploration of what that would be like.
I love the Karen-Pam friendship, and a bunch of these choices for the animals are just inspired (Michael as a gelding and Kevin as a goat in particular).
Ryan riding around on Michael the Gelding is inspired, and Dwight sounds VERY much like Dwight.
This is a really beautiful and kind-hearted version of the "Karen Finds Out" story, and really makes me want to read Pam's graphic novel.
There is not nearly enough fic of the sweetest romance on The Office. Thank you for helping fill the gap.
Author's Response: Thank you, darlin'!
This is just really well put together.
Oh, man. Seriously. You are SUCH a good writer. Like, I think I can be a better writer from what I learned from reading this.
I am intensely curious what Cece and Phil's reactions to the documentary would be, and I really love that you explored that. This does feel like a conversation Pam would have to have with one of their kids no matter how much she ducked it with their fans - and it's interesting to see Pam's perspective on her own actions from far in the future. And the Lucy-Pam dialogue feels just right!
Author's Response:
Oh, yay! I liked writing this one. I can see Pam being very protective and even defensive about this stage in her life, despite it being out there for everyone to see. She made the best decisions she could at the time (even if those stupid writers were killing us all along).
I named their children Lucy and Jamie long before Cece or Phil showed up, but...you know, close enough. Ha.
This really should've been part of Season 3.
This is ADORABLE. And a very clever rewrite of Benihana.
This is ALSO terrific ensemble fic.
Obviously he’s not having quite as bad a night as Pam, but this is a very sad image you’ve painted of Jim faced with a willing, interested and awesome lady and just not able to keep his mind on he, no matter how much he might want to. This description of his inner monologue during their kiss feels like a pretty solid definition of what that entire relationship would be.
And not only was it not your last, it turned out to be a historical landmark. Happy archiversary, and thank you for everything!
Author's Response: Thanks! Getting this review on my first fic was a great Archiversary gift. And this fic holds up, if I may say so.
Ooooof. This (and all of Angela Kinsey's stories from OLP about her rapport with John Krasinski) REALLY make me wish we'd gotten more Angela/Jim interaction.
I love the subtlety of this, and the way their connection keeps them tied together even as they stretch apart.
So was this rated MA because of the sex, or because I'm too young to feel these feelings?
I don't know which hurts most. Meredith? Phyllis? Toby? Really appreciate you finishing this was a hint of brighter things to come for Jim and Pam. Really well done ensemble piece.
A lovely way to wrap this one up.
Breaks my heart for literally everyone involved. And oddly plausible in those days before they wrote Toby as a gigantic creep.
This is a very sweet read knowing that this was a New Year's Resolution Pam absolutely kept. And as someone who is very much on Team It's Pam's Turn, seeing her come to the realization that she's waiting for Jim to move is extremely gratifying.
Don't worry, Pam - turns out you're living a romantic comedy! Your happy ending is coming.
Author's Response:
It WAS Pam's turn, and fortunately the writers knew it. I think about that hard-to-hear line of dialog in the rain at the convenience store when Jim is about to propose. She says, "I had farther to go," or something to that effect, and yes. Yes, she really did.
But they got their happily-ever-after, so it's all good!
