Takes place during “The Merger”. A couple of alternative scenarios that result after Pam asks Jim out for coffee.
I completely empathise about that whole newbie thing!! (It wasn't my fault I'm British and was a kid at the time...) Although now I've like seen every episode countless times, am so obsessed it hurts (and savvy on the trivia), it still feels like I've completely missed out :( (Glad to know someone feels the same way haha!) At least we have a decade worth of fics to get though, hey? :)

Okay right off the bat the "(a Sandra Bullock-o-thon?)" bit made me laugh!
I think you really nailed Pam's inner monologue in this chapter, especially at the start when she's pacing around in her apartment analysing the days events. It was totally believe and really sounded like what I'd imagine her thought process would be like when I watch the show. I think it's important to emphasise how even if Pam had feelings on casino night, she was denying them or honestly didn't realise what they were; I think this fic does a good job of establishing that AND the process of realisation that she went through in season 3.

Author's Response: Yeah, Michael was one of those characters who seemed so rude and inappropriate and, honestly, kind of an idiot at the beginning. But learning about him throughout the series endeared him to me. And he likes hockey, so points for him there, in my book. ;) Anyway, this fic kind of wrote itself and it's one of those that I just found really amusing. Well, plus I already have those scenes written on my head. See, originally I was going to have Karen walk in while they were having sex in Michael's office but then I didn't know if it would be too much. So adding it wouldn't be that hard, I'd just change the location a bit. Or maybe not. Maybe Michael comes back, gets his stuff, and leaves for the night. Hmmm. I'll figure it out. It'll take a couple of days though- tomorrow is my birthday and also my husband's birthday so we have a party at my mom's today and then plans tomorrow. But I'll start on it ASAP. Thank you again!

You're welcome! Yes I think it's really hard to write as Pam from season 1-4 because her feelings are left somewhat open to interpretation by the writers, meaning that you have to decide for yourself whether she knew she was in love with Jim by Casino Night or not (etc). That detail alone makes the whole reason behind her actions change and therefore the writing style too; the author has to make that clear in their fic, adding another layer of complexity! Well, that's what I think anyway... But I think your prose has Pam is great anyway!
I know she's a AU character, but I'd really love for more Lauren in this fic-- a reconciliation would be lovely or maybe she was even behind the reason Jim shows up?!

This is interesting-- I'm not usually one for bothering with Roy fics but I'm glad I clicked on this one! In my head, had Pam stayed with Roy, her life would probably exactly like this, so kudos to you! It must be all that great characterisation...
Author's Response: Thanks so much! Yeah I think with a little more consideration on Roy's part they could have had an okay marriage, and I don't doubt he would have been a decent father, at least in his own way.

This is such a mature (not just in the sex way) and emotional fic! I love how it deals with divorce and new relationships. People break up: it's a fact of life! You deal with it so well, and although none of this is cannon, it sooo could be :)

Memories take place throughout Jim and Pam's relationship, from friends to husband and wife (pre- to post-series), but they are framed by events that occur during the Texas period (post-series).

To be honest, the bulk of the story will be in memory form, all from Jim's perspective, so most of it will take place either pre-series or during the series (some episode related, some not). The last few chapters will deal more with post-series life. Counting the prologue and epilogue, it will be 12 chapters, to give you an idea of how long it will be.

When I saw that part in the episode, I couldn't help but imagine how that might have happened (the hot dog incident, I mean), and it was a lot of fun to write. This chapter ended up being way longer than I'd planned, just because characters kept talking, sneaking their way into the story, but, again, it was really fun to write. I'd glad you liked the context, since I'm always really happy to share some of my local Scranton knowledge and experience. :) More local references in other chapters to come! Such a sad chapter, with a really cathartic ending! I really like the Captain Morgan/ Pamela Morgan thing-- the sort of tenuous link that a real person as obsessed/in love with her would make. Again, I look forward to reading on! :)

So sorry for the late review! I absolutely love this story, honestly. I'm a sucker for fics that depict the start of their relationship, and although there are a lot of them out there, this still seems to me like a unique take on it! It's not too outlandish but definitely not boring either! And I love how the whole farris wheel thing ties together. But, the best thing for me is how you mentioned the hair thing-- I think because I love Pam's character development so much, when stuff tied up with her self confidence etc gets brought up, I get all excited and want to high five the author. Bravo! Please continue when you can! :)
