Yup, it’s a post-Cocktails fic! With a bit of a twist. Karen does a bad thing, and Jim is about to suffer the consequences…I've loved rewatching the Office and falling in love with Jim and Pam. I never realized the extent of the hurt that Jim inflicted on Pam. For Petes sake, she had lived a life of her life not being her own and of being with one person for so long. He'd had years to deal with his hesitations and he just expected her to just tell him let's run away together, I love you. As if he didn't know her. As if he doesn't know that she overthinks and she's caring, she cares that she would be breaking up a marriage, a ten year relationship, Sure Roy was an ass but still. Its a lot to consider and then he left. When she needed her best friend, he left. So what the hell, was the friendship just worth nothing if she couldn't love him that way?
It's a lot to consider and I'm glad that this story made me think about that.
It was brilliant and I was happy with the ending but so much happened!
This story takes place right after the events of Valentine's Day, season 2. Pam has an epiphany and realizes that the life she wants isn't necessarily the life she has now.

10 I adored this! It's so right. Pam had to have a moment of doubt, how could she not. Yes, she made the decision to leave Roy herself but to jump into something with someone so soon (even if that someone is Jim) would require a moment of hesitation, just to look at the paths ahead.
Jim has had years to think and to settle on the idea of Pam and him together. On the other hand, for Pam, this is all new. She was in denial about what Jim truly meant to her.
