Those last two lines though. So good!

Author's Response: :D Thanks!

I totally wasn’t thinking “just read the letter already, Pam!” through that first half. That’s just me being impatient though. I loved her powers of deduction.

And then she read it and it didn’t disappoint! Well done!

They’re so dang cute together in this. I’m going to miss this story when it’s done.

p.s. - hope the move went well 😊

Author's Response: Haha. I must admit, I had been setting up a lot of Jim the previous chapter so it didn't seem fair to make Pam jump right into the card. But I too was wondering when I'd get to it ;). Glad it didn't disappoint! And yes, the move went well, thanks.

The note! While I really think taking it with him and burning it in Australia is something he would have done, I'm really glad he never made it there. Now I can't wait to see what it says!

Author's Response: I hope that what I wrote works for you :). I do think Jim would have gotten some solace from that sort of ritual, though of course in canon he never did it (since it reappears later on).

Oh Jan. I was about to be really mad at her for shattering their work-free bubble but she turned out to be pretty helpful by the end there, didn't she?

Here's hoping Jim thinks this is good news too?

Author's Response: Of course he does :)

I really like here how they're handling Jim's transfer to Stamford like adults and not freaking out over it.

Author's Response: That is important to me too, thanks.

Aww, they're flirting!

I really liked Jim admitting that he had been unfair to her with the choose me or lose me mentality he had on Casino Night.

Author's Response: I think that's a really important part of their healing, so thanks.

Who doesn’t love a good Dwight impression?!

Author's Response: Neither Jim nor Pam doesn't! (Yay double negatives).

Oh, I liked Pam comparing Stamford to Roy here, and her internal struggle with which was worse. That was a really great section and a new way of looking at the situation.

Author's Response: Oh good. I wasn't sure how that comparison would come across, so hearing this is a relief.

Ugh, Stamford.

What I love here is that Jim and Pam are so happy that she can’t even leave his room to let him rest, but that’s fine because he won’t sleep because he can’t stop looking at her. You’ve nailed down the best part of a new relationship even if they are stuck in a hospital.

Author's Response: Thanks! This is an element I feel we missed a bit in the actual show because of the summer break, so I like adding it in here.

Things have to be pretty overwhelming for Jim right about now, huh? It’s good he had some downtime to process everything that’s going on - definitely enjoyed the peek into his brain here.

Author's Response: Thanks! His inner monologue is fun to write.

Pam’s pro and con list is pretty dang great! So is that ending, aww 😊

Author's Response: Aww, thanks!

Finally got caught up on this and it keeps getting better and better! I love how you had Pam describe herself and Larissa is definitely growing on me. I laughed when she admitted that everyone who knows Jim knew about his feelings for Pam before Pam did, and I loved her just coming out and saying that she already likes Pam. This friendship feels natural, despite the circumstances they're in.

I can't wait to see what happens next!

Author's Response: Thank you! Glad you caught up, and I'm very glad Larissa is growing on you. It's a hard line to walk between too much bonding and too much ignoring Jim, so I'm glad it's working for you.

Aww, I love Pan wanting to take care of both Jim and Larissa. I also love the small details that make the characters seem even more real - like Pam getting them lost on the way to the relaxation room.

Author's Response: Thanks! Pam does have that aspect to her personality, doesn't she? Taking care of others is among her favorite things.

Oh, this is so lovely. I loved seeing Pam struggling to write out her feelings only to realize there's really only one way for her to do that... the description of the picture is so striking - I really like it.

Author's Response: Thanks! I'm a little worried my version of Pam here is not struggling enough, so thanks for picking out the moment of struggle I did include to comment on :)

I love the ever-growing ease and familiarity between Pam and Larissa as they continue to get know each other! The 2 golden lines in this chapter - Larissa asking her what her intentions were and Pam at the end saying she'd like to do the proposing -- those are gems!

Author's Response: Thank you! It's really good to hear which moments stand (or at least stood) out :)

"I’m here, and I’m not running away. I need you to meet me halfway, OK?"

Yay Pam! That's all I've got.. I was grinning at her declaration at the end of this chapter.

Author's Response: Thank you! I hope you think she's still 'Yay Pam' as we go forward, because I'm trying to evoke that feeling.

This might be my favorite chapter so far. It's just so good! Jim's headspace is fascinating and I love how his subconscious is starting to meld with everything going on around him. I'm excited for him to start waking up for real!

Author's Response: Thanks! I liked having Jim a little separate from the other characters to allow me to give him an internal monologue as well.

Okay, that Gatorade story is adorable, and now for as excited as I am to see Pam and Jim when Jim finally wakes up, I'm starting to get excited to see the Halpert siblings interact as well!

Author's Response: Yeah, it's fun to play around with Larissa since she's just teased and not present in the TV show, so she can be whatever we want. Thanks.

Aww! Helene and Jim bonding - I’m here for it. Her answers to his questions were lovely and everything I wanted them to be, especially for the third one. I do love that we got a little glimpse at young Pam from Helene’s perspective and I also love that she’s picking up on the little moments between Pam and Jim.

Author's Response: Thanks! I'm not sure how much we'll see Helene again (depends on when I decide this ends) but I'm glad you've enjoyed her.

“I know dear, that’s why I didn’t invite your father.”

I love that now things are a little less grim with Jim, they’re all relaxing a little bit and things are a bit lighter. I also love Pam’s mom and I’m anxiously awaiting her appearance at the hospital.

Author's Response: We will definitely get to Mrs. Beesly soon! Thanks for reading; despite today's slight medical setback they'll be more relaxed going forward too.

I don’t know what it says about me that I love a good angsty hospital story, but I am already here for this. Big time.

I think you nailed what Pam would have been feeling that day but I especially love that you have her a feeling a bit of anger toward Jim for bolting the way he did. And that cliffhanger, well, that was just rude.

I can’t wait to see what Larissa has to say!

Author's Response: Thanks! I look forward to hearing what you think of my Larissa (and the story as it goes forward).

Well. Alright then. But I’ve got my eyes on you for further shenanigans. 😉

For real though, you’re a great storyteller and I’ll love whatever twists and turns this might take. I’m super glad he’s still okay though!

Author's Response: No shenanigans in the story! I like happy JAM, and I plan on providing it ;). Twists and turns will not involve potential death here.

Comfect! Look, I watch This is Us... I know exactly what can happen when a loved one steps away from the hospital room for a snack. I sincerely hope that your game plan isn’t THAT evil.

I was feeling so good about this chapter too - Helene pulling the “I’m the mom” card for both of them, and Pam’s thought process... all good things!

Ooh boy. But now I’m not so sure what’s going to happen. I cannot wait to see!

Author's Response: Coley! I'm not that evil. I write this stuff for my own entertainment, and I hate that particular turn, which is why I decided to signal it and then [spoilers for anyone reading this before reading the relevant chapter].

“I promise, you won’t misinterpret this” had me grinning like a fool. That was a perfect line. Thankfully followed by a sweet kiss. Things are moving along!

And here comes Mama Beesly. I’m excited.

Author's Response: Thanks! I was pretty proud of that one, I'll admit. So much angst to make up for makes for so many good lines to include.

Oh hey, does Jim have arthritis? Just wondering. Of course, I’d be super cranky too if I was made to run on a treadmill the day after waking up. I feel Jim’s pain.

Larissa and Pam continue to be golden. I love their growing ease with each other and how quickly they can gang up on Jim for the greater good - like getting him to cooperate.

Can’t wait for the next one!

Author's Response:

I'm not sure. I'll have to check...

Thanks! I continue to be concerned Larissa is coming off weird, so this is good to hear.
