Author of the Month March 2020

I've been writing fanfiction for awhile now. Just recently discovered The Office and figured I'd try my hand at that as well.

At first I thought of having all my stories in the same universe, but then I had some AU ideas. So any stories that occur within a common universe will be in a given series.

Great Jim and Pam banter while they're there up on the roof. A lot of fun to imagine them up there, until things got just a little to serious. Then the image of Jim sitting there in his apartment, a hallway and seemingly an eternity away from her, great writing.

So that was kind of intense. I think it's very real to have Jim and Pam have this sort of confrontation. They're both in the middle of a storm and are getting tossed around. Makes sense they'd both have heated feelings.

I really liked this chapter. You did a great job getting into her head with the scene with Roy. Very appropriate for him there. He tried, but like always he falls short of what Pam needs. And she knows it now too. She knows she's worth more than wine and cold fast food and she's not afraid to let Roy know too.

Then she used that confidence with Jim like she did was wonderful. Re-doing Casino Night is always a fun way to go. She's got the confidence she needs to finally be really open with Jim and it pays off great for both of them. Lots of fun to see that. Nice job.

Nice way to end things here. I love the idea that there was other things Jim was thinking of putting in the teapot and that even those didn't make the cut as you said, he still help onto them. Some very nice images of them there at the end.

Not sure where this little gem came from, but it was fun. So glad to see Jim and Pam like this. They're still insatiable for each other and it comes across beautifully (and steamily) here. I loved they still banter with each other like this too. It's one of the cornerstones of their relationship and a peek into seeing married sexy banter was wonderful.

Author's Response: Thanks Warrior! It was fun. I’m new to all this

Summary: Story starts on the Booze Cruise – Jim tells Pam about his feelings sooner and less dramatically, but it rocks her world. Confusion, feelings, and THOUGHTS ensue. The song “Stay” by Rihanna came into my head and wouldn’t leave while I was writing, hence the titles.

This was all very cute along with being steamy. You capture their sense of the newness of their infatuation very well. It's new and exciting but underneath there's the foundations for a much deeper relationship starting to form. It was really a lot of fun to read this and see the joy in both of them as they start out on their relationship together.

Author's Response: Warrior you're so kind. I'm glad the sense I'm trying to express is coming through.

But what about the lasagna? It seems to be a theme around here recently that when Pam and Jim go to bed for the first time they leave some form of food uneaten. Then again, heading back to the kitchen for a clothes-less dinner would be a good way to recover for round two, so there's that.

Very sensual and descriptive writing. Easy to see the images in the minds eye as well as the feelings of both of them. Great job in bringing them together like this.

Author's Response:

Warrior! I tried to set the reader's mind at rest by having Jim turn off the oven.:-) I'm always the one worrying about burned food and spilled wine when I'm reading.

Thank you for reading and reviewing. Much appreciated!

Good on Pam making sure to tell Roy to get out. You had Roy try to pull a classic move there in order to try and still be a part of her life. That Pam saw right through it was really good to see. She doesn't need that kind of person in her life anymore and she has the confidence to stand up for it.

Speaking of confidence. How she is the one to really initiate things with Jim? Great way to keep adding to her previous feelings. All in all great writing to show how Pam is reveling in being free of a relationship that only held her back. Very sweet and steamy scenes with Jim there against the wall and on the couch. Lots of fun.

Author's Response: Thank you! This made me smile. I figure that Pam is sort of in the power position...I mean, Jim told her he liked her so she knows how he feels. And Roy - yeah I can't stand manipulative bullshit so I just can't let Pam get involved in it.

Yes I do think this is believable. Considering this time around Roy's still in the picture, or at least in the same building, I think it makes complete sense for Pam to be acting like this. I like that Pam is doing her best to make sure her relationship with Roy is 100% over before she really gets into a new relationship with Jim. Not just because of Roy's threat, but because she seems to know that her heart needs a little time to heal before it can move onto something new. Should we call this Almost Fancy New Beesly? That might work.

I do kind of feel for Jim. You capture his wild and very conflicted feelings nicely here. Good on him to realize he was being a jerk about seeing Pam and Roy in the parking lot. Getting over all the resentment he has for Roy isn't something he can let go of overnight. Especially when he has the prospect of a real romantic relationship with Pam now.

I also like that Jim and Pam are talking to each other. Yes some of the deeper conversations might still be a bit awkward, but they're still kind of new to the whole concept. Makes sense they'd still need some practice at it. But they are talking and it's paying off in that as the Pam/Roy relationship is ending the Pam/Jim relationship is already starting to grow and on a good foundation too. Great job.

Author's Response: Thanks for your reviews warrior. They are so detailed and it means a lot.

Good way to keep things moving here. A very introspective type of chapter to be sure. I do like that they're both being careful with each other. They know the possibilities of things being shattered is there and they're taking pains that their connection is something that wouldn't break. Good writing to bring that out.

Pam's awakening here is also great to see. She's finally taking stock of what she really wants not what she thinks she wants or what might be the easiest. It would be easy to stay where she is, but as she's finding out it might not be the best. Good for her for being that honest with herself.

You're still doing a great job with this.

Author's Response: Thank you!

Good for Pam to break things off with Roy. I was thinking she was going to try and see what Roy thought of their relationship a bit more. See if there was anything there still to salvage. But it seems like you had her having her mind made up to break up with Roy before she started talking to him. That works too. His confused emotions, seem appropriate too. Now we'll see if anything comes of all that anger directed at Jim. Is Dwight going to need that pepper spray? Guess we'll see at some point.

Nice moment Jim and Pam have there at the table. It's always nice to see them kissing too. Looking forward to seeing where we go from here.

I like that you used more of a light touch ;) there at the beginning. That Jim says "like" rather than love. I'm writing this before heading onto the next chapter so there could be more I'm not reading yet, but I do get the feeling that Jim wanted to say love, but used the work like here. Seems to have worked in his favor too. It got Pam thinking about him in a more than friends way. A lot more than friends based on that last sentence, but I digress a bit. Using "like" rather than "love" was nice because rather than the huge bombshell like in canon Casino Night where Pam panicked, here, yes she's shocked, but she also seems to stay in control a bit more rather than completely shut down.

Nice job.

Author's Response: Thank you for the reviews and the comments. Yeah, wanted to see what would happen if Jim was a bit less dramatic.

So you've given us a real treat here. I've said for a while that one of the biggest problems Jim and Pam ever had was that they had a hard time really communicating with each other. It kept them apart S1-S3 and reared it's head again in S9. But here we have something different.

They're really talking to each other. Yes, they're scared and nervous, but they're talking. Great job in writing out those feelings too. I really liked how Jim finds a balance between being her friend, but still making sure she knows he's very interested in her. I like that Pam did come to him. That her first thought was to talk to Jim rather than Roy I think is very telling. She's trusts Jim with her feelings more than the man she's engaged to. Hopefully she figures that out and thinks about what that could mean for her relationships.

Then that kiss at the end. Great image. Can't wait to see where this one goes.

Author's Response: Thank you so much for the kind comments. I probably have them talking more than their characters would, but I can't stand the way they don't just speak!

Nice set up here. Lots of good introspection on what they're thinking about. Roy is in normal Roy form and I loved that Pam yelled back at him like that. Good for you Pam, stand up for yourself!

Onto the next chapter to see what all the hub-bub is about.

Short, sweet, cute. Personally I don't think Jim went back to Philly after that moment, but that's me.

Summary:

She wonders why it is so hard for her to be happy these days. She wonders why it takes her so long to fall asleep, and when she does she tosses around dreams of the office and Jell-O and Jim. She wonders why it has been so easy for her to ignore the swelling of her heart that makes it feel like her chest is going to explode. She wonders why her skin comes alive for Jim but never for Roy. And she wonders why it was so easy for her to nod and push him away, when she knows she should have just pulled him back in and let herself drown in him forever.

So, starting out with the canon lines at least. Good way to get things going that way I think. However after the kiss is all new. Nicely written too. Great writing to get into Pam's head and all the conflicted emotions going along with it.

So Pam's heading "out of state," not "interstate." A little nitpicky I know, but Jan's use of the word interstate there just seems a bit off. Not really natural you know, so for me at least it kind of threw me off thus this comment.

Still you've got this set up nice. Looking forward to seeing where it ends up.

Author's Response: Thank you for picking that up! I've just fixed it so hopefully Jan's comment makes more sense now.

Reviewer: warrior4 Signed

Yes, this is depressing, but after what happened that night, how could Jim NOT feel like that? Great of getting into his head space here. Interesting choice to have him overhear at least part of Jan and Pam's conversation. It's hard to know if that sparks hope, dread, or anything else. I did like the butterfly analogy at the end there. It's there, it's beautiful, and just as quickly gone.

Reviewer: warrior4 Signed

Bit of downturn here for Pam. Clearly she's scared and in that fear she's pushing aside the two men who cared for her. I'm sure Roy did at one point even if he doesn't really at this point in there lives. However Jim clearly does care.

Fear is a tricky thing. It whispers things like "just run away," or "this way is easier," but those are lies. Hopefully Pam will realize that soon.

Yeah so that's a shock. Granted she's not really herself right now but still. Jim's indecision seems somewhat keeping. There's a lot he's had to process thought this night. Going from thinking he's finally getting over her, to being thrown back into all things Pam, and now this aggression. Makes for a great story. Really looking forward to seeing them together and how the rest of the night goes.

Great to see an update for this story. Lots of emotion here. I like the quick flashback which gave a lot of context as to why Jim's is feeling even more uncomfortable than usual. You brought out his protective streak really well. Yeah, I don't blame him for not wanting anyone else to take care of Pam. Looks like the beginning of the end of this worlds Jim and Karen relationship. Hopefully we'll also be seeing the start of the more than that Jim and Pam relationship sometime soon too. Great writing as always.

So far not bad. One quick thing, at the time David Wallace was the CFO, Chief Financial Officer, not a VP. Just a quick point of clarification is all.

Other than that, nice work. It kinda hurts to see Jim's thought process here. That he's trying to embrace Evolved Jim even when he knows it's not who he really is or wants to be. Then to have that all come screeching to a halt when Toby called, just shows that even more.

Looking forward to seeing how this pans out.

Cone Head Sundae's were a staple of my childhood. Why are there none around here!!!! Still thanks for that little trip down memory lane.

I really liked this chapter. How you have both of them leaning on each other like this. I'm sure it was hugely tempting for both of them to head out to the bar, but bravo on them for staying strong. Like they said, there are going to be slip ups. However their trust in each other is growing stronger and stronger. I really like to see that.

Because of all that Pam is gaining more confidence in herself too. More wisdom as well. Her struggle to just tell off Angela, with all its back and forth in her mind, was a great insight to that. Then for Pam to finally reply with confidence and assertiveness showed her growth wonderfully. The same goes for Angela's reply. Yes Angela can be sharp, but she's also capable of growth and her sending Pam that prayer portrayed that nicely.

Lovely update as always.

Reviewer: warrior4 Signed

There's been a lot of build up to this moment I think. Clearly neither Jim or Pam would have been ready to share their stories with each other when they first met. However now their relationship has earned the right. They trust they've built has led to this moment. While I don't love the events that led them to this moment, I love that they're both here.

Ready to finally trust someone with not just what happened, but the feelings of what happened to both of them. That they're willing to share their guilt with each other is, yes as you said, much more intimate than sleeping with each other.

Amazing writing to show all these emotions. Canon Jim and Pam are still there. Their banter and connection still shine through. Great chapter here AG.
