This story is really well done. I love what you did with the characters, I almost don’t recognize early Jim at first without his heartbreaking longing for Pam that we all know so well, but as it progresses I feel his personality really start to shine through. Pam is so much the same even in this role-reversal, it makes my heart ache! I’m glad you didn’t drag out their reunion too far, their love story is so much more than that! As always, your writing is beautiful and I loved it. Any plans to update this one?? I know you have so many great fics that this one might be lower priority, but I’d love to see more from this AU!

Author's Response: Thank you for your review! And yes, role-reversal Jim was definitely a challenge since like you say, it's hard to imagine him as anything other than totally in love with Pam. I will finish this one I promise!

Love it! You write them really well, I love the balance of bravery and vulnerability. Poor Toby. He never had a chance next to Jim...although I kinda doubt he would have been good for Pam, even if they had pursued that angle. ANYWAY, this is sweet and a pleasure to read

Okay, I love this. I always kinda liked Karen, and felt bad that she got such a bad rap towards the end. This is a wonderful take on her!

I always feel a little weird admitting that a story turns me on, but then isn’t kinda that the point of them being written?
This was really, really well done. Believable and endearing and sexy and so fun. Absolutely amazing! Jim’s internal dialogue is so in character for him, and I love how the all other cast members were represented as well. The hottest drinking game I’ve ever ‘witnessed’. Was not expecting the Pam and Karen kiss but I liked it, and clearly so did Jim!!
Bravo.

I’ve read this through probably 3 or 4 times in the last month, that’s how good it is. Ugh, I just love it. You captured them so incredibly perfectly, with so much depth and emotion. Bravo.

So, I might go back and comment on my favorite bits later. But for now, I just want to say how well your writing flows and how easy and enjoyable it is to read. I have ADD and I judge good writing by how I feel when I read it: if it’s good, I can immerse myself in it, never stopping to re-read paragraphs or question phrasing or notice typos. When it’s less than good, I find myself distracted and I often have to force myself not to skim the page to the end or to the next bit of dialogue.
Your writing is just GOOD. Perfect balances between dialogue and descriptions, the imagery makes sense, the characters are on point. It’s just a pleasure to experience :) so thank you! You’re a big reason I’m trying to write more and the entire reason I’m on this site (I wrote a story on AO3 that you commented on, I Feel God In This Chili’s Tonight—haven’t cross posted it yet tho!).

Ooh, I’ve been waiting for this update. It’s a relief for her to know the full scope of her situation, and to have some closure with Roy.
I like your Penny, she’s tough but sweet.
I cannot wait to read more, and see how she deals with Jim now that she knows (most of) the truth.

Okay, so when I first started to read this, I got to the line that first references his sexual abuse in prison and I Noped out. Hard.

But I came back and kept reading after a few weeks, I think it was. And I’m glad I did. Because this is just really, really well done. 

I love how it all worked out in the end, I love their journey together, and the way you changed their characters just enough to fit the story but not so much that we can’t recognize our precious JAM.
