1 I am in love with this!!! I love how we get to see what’s going on behind the scenes in each chapter, especially with this one. The Dundies is one of my favourite episodes, you really brought the whole “Jam” story to life here- well done!

The only thought fixed in his mind is how easy he and Pam have landed into that comforting, exciting place of banter and pranks and how he never ever wants to leave it again.
Pam is jinxed and Jim knows he has to take this chance.

1 This was so sweet! I really loved the bit where you said about Jim feeling warm on the inside, I always wonder if he could’ve felt like that during s3 with Pam. I also loved the discovery of the photo, it was just like his love for Pam had been relit. Just a really fab story overall!

1 I love this! I don’t know if it’s just me, but I’m getting the vibe that this story will be one jam (ha, ‘jam’) packed with fluff.
The way you wrote everyone’s dialogue made me feel like I’d just been put in the middle of the office, listening to everyone talk. That bit with Kelly was spot on.

When Jim reached to get a jellybean I think I squealed just a little bit- there’s something about that action that just makes me think of flirty Jim.
Plus I’m loving the Pam and Kelly friendship. I definitely think that the two of them work well together, especially in this story! I’m definitely a Pam, so I know how good it can feel when you have a Kelly to push you along the way.

Inspired by Groundhog Day (of course) and the two fics based on that movie on this archive already, House Call by time4moxie and especially Second Chances: The Booze Cruise by GreenFish (though that one is Jim POV).
You’ve kept this story so exciting and so jam packed with action and emotion.
I really like how Jim changes with Pam in a way, like he’s different to everyone else in the office because he isn’t doing the same things over and over again. I can’t wait to see what happens with the ‘save the receptionist’ line, I feel like that could be a real turning point.

This was intense! But I love how Pam is finding what she wants more and more each time she goes through a cycle.

1 Karen and Pam are friends (ish) and I’m here for it! Short and sweet is what you could call their interaction, and it’s everything I could’ve asked for. It’s interesting to see Karen pre-season 3 because we get to see what her and Pam could’ve been like if it wasn’t for the awkwardness of the whole Jim situation.
I’m excited to see the next groundhog! Keep it up

At the end of each chapter I’m always thinking “Okay, what’s Pam gonna do next?” And in each chapter I’m pleasantly surprised
It’s really interesting to see the way you’ve interpreted Pam, and how you’ve shown her discovering what’s going on.

1 I love this idea, it’s so original yet still so classic. A WW2 AU is such a good route to go down, and the idea of the letters is such a good way to communicate, I always find them to be so emotional. Excellent start!

Author's Response: Thank you. Even though this is AU I felt there still needed to be some elements that people would recognize. Pranks is one of them. Also thanks for the insight about Pam. I was nervous I'd made her reacting to strongly to Jim so soon after we find out she's broken off her engagement. However Jim has always brought out the best in Pam so I'm glad that came across well.
The year is 1929. Pamela Beesly was doing alright despite everything going on in America. She was engaged to a miner, Roy Anderson, who swept her off her feet and took her to a new kind of life back in Chicago. After the stock market crashed she began to seek employment in order to stay afloat. Thanks to a sexy local club singer, in a pinstripe suit, named Jimmy Halpert and his in with the owner of the Green Door Tavern Pam was working nights as a waitress at the town's most popular speakeasy. Not to mention she was now employed by the largest Mob Boss in America. Michael Scarn.
1 I’m loving the 30’s vibes from this story. Flirty Chicago Jim is a particular favourite of mine.

Author's Response: Thank you so much! Yes, I wanted to convey the fact that while things are weird between them, the root of their relationship, the camaraderie, still exists.
Meeting in an unusual place in life, a broken Jim and Pam try their best to put the pieces of their lives back together while not falling apart and back down the hole that they're trying to help one another out of.
Based on the song "How Not To" by Dan + Shay, because do I *ever* write something that *isn't* based on a song?
1 Ooookay so, did I shamelessly just spend an hour binge reading this, sitting at my desk with my essay question staring back at me? Yes. Absolutely. And I’m so glad I did.
Now I made a note of my favourite moments, and there were A LOT of them, so, I hope I can squeeze them all in.
‘Someone was telling a goddamn joke. In the middle of an AA meeting’
‘AA Jim was sitting on top like a throne, and he wouldn’t go away’ truly one of my favourite lines, one because I love Pam calling him ‘AA Jim’ and two, just, what an excellent way to put it, because Pam just couldn’t get rid of him.
‘I did the this counts as a smile thing back’ No words for this, just pure genius. It shows the pain they’re going through and the want to push through it. *chefs kiss*
I have Jim and Larisa in capital letters with !!! next to it and underlined. I will say no more.
I loved the detail of them having a usual at the Diner, the weekly burgers were just enough for the two of them.
‘You? Tall gangly Gumby man? Played basketball? No. Not a chance in hell.’ when I tell you I laughed, I LAUGHED.
Pam handing Jim her phone, having written ‘Gumby Halpert’ as the contact, it made my little Jam heart race.
‘I needed an anchor, and she was it’ the way this ages throughout the story, being reminded that Pam shouldn’t be his ‘bottle’, but she was his anchor, and you showed that healthy development so well.
Pam and Jim opening up was so heartbreaking, the way they both cried at each other’s stories proved how well they got each other, how well they wanted to understand each other.
‘Boats, Boats, Boats!’ I see that HIMYM reference
Both of them being ready for new beginnings made me ready for tears.
And finally, the ‘swaying isn’t dancing’ line being delivered by Karen was just pure perfection, not that I enjoyed hearing it, but that it would definitely be something for rational Karen to say. Another *chefs kiss*
So yes, I’m extremely glad I read this, and extremely glad I spent the last 10 minutes typing this review out. Now, I have to go do some work, but I won’t stop thinking about all the magic moments I’ve read!

1 The bit with Kelly’s swim suit being a bit less made me grin, so I can understand why Jim and Pam would.
