Three little facts about me:

1) I'm a work-from-home mom from Kyiv, Ukraine.

2) I'm super late to the party, but  I do my best to turn my excitement with the show into the content (hopefully, qualitative).

3) I care about Pam Beesly more than about any other fictional character in all the existent fandoms.

I definitely like it!
And I don't even know which one of the 'f' parts I enjoyed the most :) But there was something particularly hot about the flirt one...
Thank you!

Author's Response: Thank you! I had so much fun writing that flirty part so I’m so pleased that you liked it! Thank you for reading and reviewing!

I'm really awkward with words, but still.
I'm sorry for all that you went through and for all you feel right now. It's terrible. A few years ago, I had a similar experience, and when I read your story, I felt it all and recognized my own emotion. And the way you wrote it, while you feel all of this... it's beautiful and heartwrenching. You're so strong that you could turn your feelings into words and share your story. I really, really hope that you'll feel better.
All I can do right now is to send you many hugs and wishes, though I want to do more for you. I'm here if you need me.

Author's Response: I don’t think you’re awkward with words at all. Thank you, Dernhelm. I appreciate your kind words so much!

I’m sorry that you had a similar experience. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
Thank you for being here. I’m so glad to have you as a friend.

Thank you for writing!

What a beautiful and heartwrenching start!
Poor Jim. His aching is so palpable, and its facilitation seems to be so impossible... at that moment. And poor Pam... I feel her confusion and fear and protectiveness of Roy — somehow, its protectiveness of herself, I guess. And she knows, or, at least suspects Jim's feeling and it only made everything worse and more complicating. And the rocking desk is the perfect metaphor for their state.
"You're everything, Pam. I wish he treated you like that." I'm dying here because it's... it's... it's so selfless and tender and... gah! Who's that damned person who broke the spell? Okay, perhaps, perhaps, if Pam kissed Jim right here right now, it would have unpleasant consequences, but God! it would be so good...
The whole exchange between Roy and Jim is good, Captain Jack's remark is excellent (and so on time because it caused a reaction so pleasantly different from canon...), and... you know, I feel sorry for Roy. Really sorry. Because "The axis of Roy's world isn't balanced on her very presence like his is."
And... if you treat you fiancee (who supposed to be the main person in your life) like a second choice... perhaps, you aren't happy that much either. Perhaps, you're just content with stability in your life... and it's Pam and Roy's tragedy.
And Pam's realization on the desk and her final words... I'm a happier person than I was before reading! Thank you so much for this story, and I crossed my fingers for the upcoming update ;)

Author's Response: Thank you so much, Dernhelm!

I feel exactly the same way about Roy, and Pam for that matter. I do think it’s protectiveness of herself and the life they’ve built that keeps her clinging to Roy - even when from the outside it doesn’t appear to be much of a life...
I feel a bit sorry for Roy too. I don’t think he’s
truly happy with Pam either. I think he’s just glad to have someone to fill the void of his mother - cooking, cleaning, taking care of him, etc.
I so appreciate your review!

Date: July 05, 2020 Title: Chapter 2: Come over, let me show you what he can't

Did I tell you how much I love the way you describe emotions and feelings? No? So, I do. I love it so much, I can't express it with words, only with frantic gestures and incoherent sounds.
I feel so much compassion for Pam when she was talking to Roy. It hurts, really hurts that even at the end, he didn't understand her. 'Worthless scum' is quite a harsh expression (though Jim had his reason for it), and I don't feel so much hate to him, but the way he and Pam pained each other... I'm happy they're done.
And I'm happy that Jim was there for Pam, and I'm delighted that this ship became a 'broken relationships ship' (I'm curious though what Katy thought about her relationship with Jim and the way it was ended?..).
'She lets his fingers brush over the back of her hand for a moment before she pulls them gently back to her lap,' it's so, so good. Of course, she needed some time for herself, but the way she showed that Jim wasn't unwelcome... it's so tender.
And the whole episode in the break room made me warm and dizzy. I love meaningful and indirect confessions so much, and this one is perfection.
And when I thought that my heart would explode with all these feelings, you added 'Dwight?' and I laughed so hard, and my heart remained with me :)
Fantastic story, and I'm grateful so much that you shared it with us!

Author's Response: Oh Dernhelm, this review is so very lovely! Thank you!

I feel the same way about Roy, that he and Pam were not ideally suited (not so much that he’s a terrible person).
I really thought about resolving it all on the boat, but it felt far too rushed to do that. I feel like Pam needs that time to herself to grow.

Go, Pam!

The lovely ending of the lovely story!
I especially like that Pam, even frustrated, broken-hearted, and regretful, found some time to visit the museum instead of falling into the depth of despair. She chose herself, and that's awesome!
Thank you!

Author's Response:

Thanks very much!

One of the things I like the most about season 3 is the fact that Pam is finding a voice of her own, and I wanted to show a little bit of that.

Thanks again! I'm glad you liked it!

I want to blame Pam for not giving an immediate answer, I want to blame Jim for not giving her enough time, but the truth is that their reactions were as natural as only they could be. And it hurts, oh, it hurts so much! I feel like my heart broke into a thousand pieces, and though I put them together, some parts are missing. And they'll be missing until I read the update of your story.
Thank you!

Author's Response: Thanks for your comments! Yes as much fun as writing them hooking up was, I couldn’t help but think about what the consequences would be. They’ve both put themselves in a tough spot thanks to their impulsiveness. I hope chapter two provides the missing heart pieces!

I'm so proud of Pam! Her feelings are so real, and her actions show how much she grew up. Amazing to watch!
"I think I've loved you for a long time. And maybe it's too late, and it's okay if it is, I just thought you should know." it's a perfect mirroring CN confession, and I'm crying a little, but that's okay.
Annnd then, my tears miraculously disappeared, and THANK YOU for that!
I don't know that exactly I feel about Jim's 'table speech,' but it's nice that they're talking about it, and both are fine with it.
"Your whole life is in Scranton," — "Not my whole life," and here I melted into a puddle. Just awww!
Thank you once more for this story!

Author's Response: Yes I didn't know how the table scene was gonna go over with readers. I think of it as just the bit of tension from the years of watching Pam with Roy bubbling up for Jim, and/or maybe Jim getting a little subconscious revenge for Pam bringing up Katy during their previous night together XD but of course communicating about it is always key! The "not my whole like" line is one of my favorites also <3 Thank you for your comments!

I have a lump in my throat right now because it so painful but at the same time I see clearly why Pam felt this way and why she said that she said, and it's so, so real, and that's why it's aching so much, and I'm babbling right now, and god, I hope you have the second chapter half-written somewhere!
Beautiful work!

I read the chapter title.
I knew that to expect.
But then I started to read, stumbled on "The blank screen looked back at her mockingly. If this was a message, she heard it loud and clear," and I'm a sobbing mess all over again.
It's amazing, the way you describe Pam's gains and losses. And achingly beautiful.
Thank you!

Reviewer: Dernhelm Signed 1

I made a tremendous mistake reading this story after 'Aeternum'...
'in a way he used to only do with her.'
I'm crying.
'a meaningful statement on the symbolism of a baby...and him.'
I'm wailing.
'she knew he heard the words 'I wouldn't let them' as clear as if she had spoken them aloud.'
I need to take a pause now. Okay, I feel slightly better, continue.
'The levity of his comment fell and landed on the cheap linoleum tiles at their feet.'
Nope, the same pain all over again.
But the ending, oh, the ending is heartbreakingly beautiful, and I hate my foreknowledge about the show's events...
Thank you so much for this story! And especially thank you that you published it at the same time with 'Aeternum,' so I can go and reread the last chapter, reminding myself that there are places where Jim and Pam are together and happy...

Author's Response: I'm so glad you could bounce back and forth. I always like to return to the JAM 'happy place' as well. :) Thank you as always, Dernhelm. <3

I want to hate it, honestly, as it causes me pain over and over again, but I absolutely love it!
Thank you!

Author's Response: I know it is rough right now but there is hope on the horizon. The pain makes the payoff so much better! Thank you, friend!

Do I want to cry? Do I want to laugh? Do I want to make a lot of 'aww' noises? I don't know, probably I want to do all of that and THANK YOU for that!
(Seriously. Lately, I have some trouble with feeling things — I feel mostly numb to everything that used to bring me emotions (or potentially could cause feelings) — and now I feel many things, which is so nice for a change).
And I love your writing, it's so poetic and delicate, like watercolors on fine paper. Especially I love these lines:
"she saw something more complex, more like a melodic song with notes of concern and pain and regret each playing their part across his melancholy visage."
and
"he had read her like the pages of his favorite novel before sliding the bookmark into the crease and shutting it for another day."
That's so heartachingly beautiful.
And I like these subtle changes you brought to the canon. I like their silent conversation and acknowledging each other's emotions, it really feels like something natural, and I hope that those changes will lately play their role. Can't wait to see that!
Also... thank you so much for not letting Pam fucked Danny. That little thing made me a little happier!

"Great. It's a d- settled then." - this line is so adorable and just a tad sad, but I love it!
I'm looking forward to the continuation!

Author's Response:

Thanks very much for your review! I'm not sure about how fast or slow would this scenario work, but I'm leaning towards fast. At least in my case, while on quarantine I found my self getting very friendly with a couple of people.

I feel sorry for Pam so much and, at the same time, I'm so proud of her. You wrote her turmoils beautifully realistic. 'Too. What else had Roy taken from her?' I like this line so much!
And the ending is perfect. I like stories in which Jim saves Pam, but there is something fascinatingly beautiful in the stories where Pam saves herself on her own...

Author's Response:

Thanks very much for reviewing!

Me too! I love when Pam stands for herself and does her thing without help. In this case Jim sort of inspired her to move forward, but it's mostly her, making some important choices.

And I found Phyllis' help very endearing.
Thank you!
P.S. I wouldn't mind this forward Jim ;)

Author's Response:

Thanks a lot!

It was a heavy chapter to write! I felt like fighting with my husband just because, and I think it was the spirit of the chapter getting into my life.

At first I was going to make Dwight help Pam, but that would've been awkward down the road.

Forward Jim - Quarantine Jim... it's a fun balance :)

I read this chapter right after waking up, and it made me much happier than my usual morning cup of coffee.
I don't even know where to start — I LOVE everything about it. Their conversation in the car. The way Pam forgot about social distancing and hugged Jim. Red and black striped pajama pants. The dinner. Oh, the dinner and 'it's a date,' and the fact that he combed his hair made my heart melt. And the sadness of their college and art discussion. And 'I like you.' It was so sweet and adorable, and, perhaps, that's my favorite taste of JAM.
I'm so grateful to you that you're writing this story, and I'm looking forward to the next chapters so much. Thank you!

Author's Response:

Thanks very much for such wonderful review! I'm glad you liked it. I love when they banter/flirt, and doing it over the internet brings back some memories of many years ago.

I was not sure about who should hug whom, but then I thought Pam is a little vulnerable right now, and feeling both decided about her decision and lonely because of the consequences.

I hope you like what's coming next.

Cheers!

Oh, poor Pam... This whole chapter is amazing and painfully realistic; you could make so many plans, but then something unpredictable happened, and you could do nothing about it. That's so, so real.
And yet, I like the way things go between Pam and Jim. That they are sincerely talking about everything and that they admit feelings to each other, and their mutual care, and Jim's insecurities about being too pushy, all of that are so endearing.
I hope that things will get better! Thank you for this story!

Author's Response:

I love (in a kind of perverse way) the irony of she getting sick right when mandatory lockdown is about to be lifted.

And, of course, she wouldn't like Jim to be too close because she doesn't want to give it to him.

Thanks very much for your review!!
