The Office helped me laugh through a really difficult time in my life and change some things about myself, inspired by the character Pam's transformation.  Thanks to all the authors here for continuing the story!

While I don't plan to write, I so enjoy  reading what the authors here create.

NLM!!! Where has this been hiding?!
So glad you brought this back and dusted it off. It's excellent, and I usually don't like high school fics. Your writing just flows so well. But please promise you'll update more quickly! :)
Thanks for including the image at the end and please be a nerd and make up the mock website!
Thanks for writing!

I just stumbled across this story today and it is absolutely fantastic! Made my day!
I liked all of it, but especially where Pam really ponders the relationships that she is in in Chapter 25. Nice to see her thoughts. I like that she is in the driver's seat as far as what happens when she realizes who everyone is...
The way you wove quotes and different situations that happened in TO was seamless- great job!

Thanks for writing this- a definite favorite of mine now!

Author's Response: Thank you! I really liked writing this one, so I appreciate the feedback, especially the specific point about ch 25. Thank you so much!

Ok, that was sweet and a great job for being your first Office fic! I am always up for post "The Job" stories, and this one doesn't disappoint - well written and original in that I never thought of them having a "redo" of casino night. This is one I will come back to and read again!

Author's Response: I was very pleasantly surprised to see a new review for this story. I'm very glad you liked it. It was a lot of fun to come up with everything for it. I remember I'd just finished binge watching the series and thought there had to be fanfic out there for The Office. A couple days later this was the result. Thanks for taking the time to leave a review.

Summary: It's 1963 and West Scranton High's new math teacher Jim Halpert has a secret. When it rears its ugly head and puts both him and librarian Pam Beesly in danger, how will he react? Will they be able to outrun his dangerous past or will his enemies catch up to him, once and for all?

Ok - this is my first time reading this one (where was it hiding ?!)! Fantastic and sucked me right in... and that shirt, the definition, the setting- so fun! I will be binge reading the other chapters tonight!

Like Pam, I have a lot of questions. And Jim, what self control you have-a perfect gentleman there (well, minus the almost getting her killed)!
Looking forward to the next chapter.
Thanks for writing!

Author's Response: I’m hoping to have Jim exercise a little less self control very soon. 😉 thanks so much for reading it all and letting me know what you think!!

I was excited to see an update for this fic!
Good to get some backstory on how Jim ended up at the school and his "secret " life. The dialogue between them is just perfect- I forgot I was actually reading!
And this:
“I like that job.” Jim met her eyes and their gazes locked. It felt significant."
Oh, it was significant alright!
Can't wait for the next chapter!
Thanks for writing

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I enjoyed filling in the backstory for this version of Jim. I hope you keep enjoying!

I always wanted the "Kathy Issue " to be addressed and dealt with, and here is my answer!
I always felt that their true thoughtfulness and kindness towards people was something that drew Jim and Pam together as well as something they appreciated about each other. I see that here as Kathy didn't get what she deserved...
I do like that Pam got a little spicy there at the end!
Thanks for writing

Author's Response: You're just going through all my old stuff now aren't you? Not that I'm complaining mind you, I love getting reviews. This was another fun story to bring to light. It's my contention that when Jim and Pam are truly together, there's nothing that can pull them apart. Not distance pushy temp workers. They are also kind souls. Few of their pranks are actually destructive and by this time they've realized that it's important to be honest. Thus we get this talk at breakfast. Thanks for the review.

I really enjoyed this story because of the way you wrote it and the care you
took in writing it... sentences like these:
She was aware of Roy in the way one was aware of the weather or the traffic. His moods were borderline predictable, in the way that February would be cold or rush hour busy, but still bore watching: the difference between a day he felt slighted and one when he’d won the warehouse poker game was as stark as between a blizzard and a thaw.

And this level of writing took place throughout the story. So many funny and unique phrases that were so in character (like Roy getting her wings AND jalapeno poppers - yeah that'll fix it, Roy...) and Jim noticing how he no longer had to hold back when interacting with Pam, something I hadn't thought must have defined their relationship in the beginning and a big change for them once together and out of the office.
I could quote something from each chapter, but I'll refrain and just say great job retelling this in a fresh way. Thank you for writing and sharing. I've read some longer fics that fade out in attention to detail toward the end and this one definitely didn't. Again, thanks for writing!

Author's Response: Thank you. I really appreciate both the time you took on this comment and the specificity of it. It's really wonderful to get feedback like this and I really am thankful!

You've really got Angela and Dwight down pat, here! Very in character IMHO! Especially the Angela/Dwight/Cat conversation in ch 1!
I was wondering if Angela really saw Jim - it's interesting how these four tiptoe around the truths in their relationships with each other and no one really wants to tip the scales too far!
Can't wait to see what happens at Pam's apartment!!!
A side note - I looked at your artwork on your Tumblr site.... Oh my! You have a gift - I am absolutely amazed! I was an art major in college, so know that I truly appreciate the dedication that went into your pieces... A lot of heart, too. Thanks for sharing your gifts!

A nice, sweet, peaceful end to this one. I enjoyed the read.

Author's Response: Thanks for commenting. Yeah nothing to exciting for this chapter. Not everything in life is big and dramatic so makes sense to follow that theme here.

I think that one of the things about Jim and Pam that resonates with so many people is that they both had dreams of accomplishing something career wise and ended up with a job that just paid the bills. I thought the nod to that here was very realistic and balanced out the sweetness of this chapter. Of course, for some of us (as is with JAM), pursuing the dream of loving someone else is more important than the career, which I think this chapter highlights very well.
I've enjoyed the story! Thanks for writing!

Author's Response: That's a great point about Jim and Pam's relationship. Thanks for your very insightful comment.

Why is it that I love the Pam and Dwight friendship so much? You wrote it well here, just enough annoyance, some truth and a sprinkle of kindness and understanding. And I think I'm going to take Dwight's advice as well! (not about the sinus headache!)

Author's Response: Thank you. That was exactly the tone I was going for so I'm glad it came across.

Ok, I think one of my favorite things about this whole story is that you are weaving in your experiences with your family with one of your favorite things (The Office). That makes this a much more personal and lasting piece, IMHO, because of its personal nature in recording some of your early experiences with your own kiddo.
Nicely done! Thanks for writing!

Author's Response: Aww, thank you H&C. It's been fun to incorporate some personal things with this story. It's probably about 20% stuff from my experience, 80% making it up for the fic just to let you know. Glad you're enjoying this.

Oh. I have to say thank you to the nod to Persuasion - I reread it every summer! And thanks for the backstory on Superman. I've never read comics, so it helped me to understand where Jim was coming from.
Jim gets five stars here for cleaning up, making dinner, taking care of the baby and arranging a thoughtful surprise!
This was a nice break from these crazy times! Thanks for writing!

Author's Response: The nod to Persuasion is also a nod to the current Regency-JAM story being written by Dernhelm, but I'm glad you liked it too. No problem about the Superman backstory. The comics I reference are among the greatest story arcs of the character. Glad you liked how Jim was taking care of things at home. Glad I could give you and everyone else a quick break.

Summary:

After the events of Casino Night, Pam is adrift and Jim is anchored.

A spin on early Season 3 that relies far too heavily on nautical imagery and references to Titanic...

Yes! Two chapters in one week!
I liked seeing (seaing) the reactions in the Stamford branch as the ship was sinking. Jim didn't need to save the receptionist, either!
I think you wrote Jan very well. I could hear her bustling through the office and see that vindictive smile! And I've always had had a soft spot for Pam and Dwight's little friendship. Thanks for putting that in there, too. I have to admit that a part of me hoped Pam would get to stay and paint the sea! But I'm happy as long as Jim and Pam are together!
Such a good story... I'll be sad when it's over but so glad to have read it as it was being written! Thanks for writing!

Author's Response: Oh I’m glad my Jan worked. I was a little worried about writing her.

I have a huge soft spot for the Dwight/Pam friendship too. It’s one of my favorite things.
Hopefully I’ll have the final chapter up sooner rather than later...

YAY! You updated this! I've been waiting!
I got lost in the dialogue and storyline- so good! I'm glad that they are taking it slow, but maybe, not really taking it slow.... I've enjoyed the continuation of the sea metaphors woven through this chapter as well. I also like that her friendship with Karen is continuing.
As far as I'm concerned, you can add as many chapters as you like. I will be sad to see it end!

Yaaaaaaaay! You updated again!
This was great- every time Jim got all doubt-y about going overboard (sea metaphor there) with his attentions to Pam, I got nervous right with him that this was going in a terribly angsty direction, but it didn't and I thank you!
I'm glad Pam's sticking to her guns about taking it slow, but also struggling with it mightily.
Thank you for the update!

Author's Response: I loved this review - thanks so much! I sea what you did there ;)

I'm relatively new here and have been following this story from the start. I've really enjoyed the "Pam in Stamford" setting!
I couldn't help grinning through this entire chapter... I love how patient Pam is being with Jim's guarded behavior and how slowly and softly you have them coming back towards each other here.
It's also nice to be able to enjoy Karen here, though I've been secretly worried she'll somehow slide in and derail Jim!
And Andy and pig Latin? Perfect! Nice to have that in the middle of this chapter to give pause to Jim and Pam's sweet and cautious interactions. Can't wait for the next chapter!

Author's Response: Thanks for the review! I had a little bit more fun with chapter, I feel is if they’re returning to themselves a little bit more. I’m glad to see that translated well. I have no plans to use Karen for evil in this particular story...

You did such a great job wrapping up each conflict and incorporating the words and attitudes of the characters.
I have to say that the letter scene and Mr. Halpert riding back to meet with Pamela was my favorite part of all.
You had a lot going on in this story (The Office, Persuasion, P&P and your own original content) and it was wonderful!

Ooohhhh.... is Toby our Mr. Elliot?! Perhaps we are at a turning point for poor Pamela. I like the friendship that you have created between Miss Flax and Pam. I always liked Holly - reasonable, yet silly.
Thank you for sharing the poems - I can see Pam and Karen in both of those, though I especially liked the Wordsworth poem.
Thanks for writing!

Again, you do a great job of keeping each one in character without compromising the flow of the story. Sir Michael calling Mr. Flenderson an old shoe and Mr. Howard not asking to be introduced and pressing Pamela to change her plans sounds very like them!
