Bio:

Once upon a long time ago, I discovered my love for writing. As a child I began setting pieces of my imagination to paper. In my teens, I wrote short stories when I wasn’t busy writing school papers. Post college, I began writing the “Great American Novel,” but got sidetracked when copywriting officially became part of my advertising job. When marketing and research became my profession and my boyfriend became my husband, the bulk of my writing consisted of sell sheets and wedding thank you notes. The birth of my two kids and my own small business saw me writing more emails to clients, letters to teachers and grocery lists than anything else. Now working as a graphic designer, the copy I typeset is not even written by me. In short, I’ve been distracted from my own creative writing for quite some time. Who would think it would be a quarantine and The Office that would draw me back in? When COVID-19 grounded us at home, my teenage son and I binged through The Office (I’d never seen it before) and I fell in love with JAM. Having felt “cheated” out of a whole chunk of the Pam/Jim story between seasons 3 and 4, I sought out Fan Fiction to fill in the gaps, and while I loved the stories I found, none of them quite matched what was floating around in my head. So, after a very long hiatus, I finally took pen to paper again (it really did begin with one of my son’s unused composition books) and here I am. Now re-acquainted with my past love, writing has become part of life once more.  May we never lose each other again.

This has been on my bookshelf for a while and I finally got to read it. I know this is a story from a long time ago but I thought I'd drop a review all the same.

Really enjoyed this retelling of the finale. Season 3. Impressed you came up with all this before the finale aired.

I liked that Karen took herself out of the picture in your version. She really had blinders on in the show's version (although I could see she would try to convince herself otherwise especially after making such a big move to be with him).

But I like how Jim gets to stay "clean" here. Going back a few chaps love the Michael bit. He really can be observant and wise at rare times.

A nice AU ending with a whole lot to imagine for their future.
Overall, a really enjoyable read, well written and full of lots of good nuggets and call backs.

I know this was written 13 years ago but I was told I would really enjoy this series and I’m already hooked. To me the doc crew is a character and one often overlooked in fan fics.

How fun all the imaginary dates and the real one couldn’t be more them.

Love that Ernie gives them the privacy they crave and deserve in the end.

Whole lot of fun.

Can’t wait to read more of the series.

I know this is not a new story but I had to comment. This is perfect, from the first line to the last. You captured not only what pregnancy is like (at least what it was for me) through Jim's observations, but hit upon all the things Pam could and would be feeling having the pregnancy before the actual wedding. I loved the mention about asking before they found out, a small but monumental detail. Loved how he talked about her changing body and her concern about what she would wear to their nuptials. Loved how he's doing his research and trying to take care of her as best he can. I'm on the precipice of an empty nest with one off to school next year (we hope with all going on now) and the other here for only 2 more years after that, so stories like these that bring back memories of what it was like while they were still just miracles in the making are even more meaningful to me. I'm so glad I came across this beautiful snapshot. Well done.

Author's Response:

Maxine, I am very rarely on this site anymore, so imagine my surprise to get this note from you when I happened to be logged in! I'm so excited to hear from you!

My kids are younger than yours, but it was still a while ago when I was going through all of this-- and yet it really does feel vivid in my mind. That excitement and nervousness and sense of possibility. And exhaustion. I had never been tired like that in my life! :)

Thank you for finding this old story, for appreciating it, and for letting me know. I think the community around this show is one of the most special things about it. You've made my day.

HI again.

Been devouring your stuff lately and enjoying it as always.

Love Daddy Jim - he is so endearing. And just how we imagine him to be at home with his daughter. And Jim the husband, still passionate about Pam.
Thank You for her - Just got me right there.

The present is such a cute anecdote -love the way the humorous touches are tossed in throughout.

Tell me - was there some reference in the show I can't remember to coconut shampoo Jim uses or is it just coincidence since I refer to Jim's coconut shampoo in my story too. Perhaps we both have the same image of Jim.

Ending just what I would expect - new parents are always a little frazzled but they make the best of their evening. A beautiful birthday story. Bravo.

Author's Response: Maxine, you did a deep dive here! I think I wrote this in college back in 2009! Thank you so much for giving it some life again! I think every man I ever dated used coconut shampoo. It smelled good, but they didnít feel emasculated lol. I think Jim is pretty comfortable but he still maybe is a bit insecure about his emotional side. So coconut shampoo it is Lolol Thank you so much for deep diving back! I highly recommend my fic Paint by Number if you get to it. Itís a really fun read and itís completed! I was 22 then, but still loved writing and was studying it at the time! Now itís just my side gig, during the day Iím an Assistant Director at a college. Very different :). Thank you for coming back again and again!!

I am enjoying this FF so much that I had to open my account early just so I could comment on how much I love your writing. It's the little things like "marrying into a family that drinks hot chocolate water" that really bring this to life. Your use of metaphorical language, the descriptions you come up with and the parallels you drop in do not go unnoticed and are what excite me as I devour your chapters. I know I'm late to the party on this story but since I'm still playing catch up I am so excited to see what's in store for JAM in your narrative and hope you will see this review. As a new FF writer myself, I find your style inspirational and aspirational. Really well done. Never ever ever give up (writing, that is).

It was time for me to jump in on this one. ive got a lot of catching up to do but if you can find time to read and review all you do in between saving people's lives and delivering your own child then I can commit to a chapter a night and maybe caught up by the time we know who will be president.

Ok first impression, well written and would expect nothing less from you. I'm picturing Top Gun, mixed with Call of Duty (yes I picked up on the Stamford call name and of course Jim is Jester) mixed with A French Village as I read.

Pam on the cockpit dash. I would have like more of her but I know it's the set up and leave them wanting more applies here. So much that I'm on to the next chapter already.

Author's Response: Glad to have you hear. Honestly I didn't even remember Jester from Top Gun for that one. It was more along the lines of Jim is a prankster, thus a Jester and it sounds good. Also the Cooper call sign is a shout out one of the restaurants in Scranton the characters sometimes mentioned.

Glad the set up chapter worked well for you. I remember having a lot of fun writing those chapters so I'm glad you enjoyed them too.

I got Pam. Ok now I'm hooked. It may take less time than I thought to catch up.

OK - thoughts.

First off, I used to commute through and work across from Grand Central and I loved your description of the constellation ceiling. Oh you brought me back - thanks for that memory. I tried to picture it in the 40's but in reality it always had a old feel to it - never really got modernized so it felt the same to me.

So is the elevator being out a nod to Big Bang Theory?-with Penny being sister's name why not take advantage of opportunity to slip that in. I'm pretty sure that's what you were doing here. Love it!

I like the explanation of how things went bad with Roy - such a classic tale of peaking too soon or finding it hard to adjust when you leave the little world where you rule to be just another person in the real one. Plus, since they were never really all that compatible, it just took her seeing him in the real world to figure it out.

So I like how Pam is somewhat naÔve and not-worldly - got another flashback to my NY days as they head to a NY bar - made me think of a bar on NY side by Staten Island Ferry (can't recall the name), but the scene is the same no matter where it was meant to be. I at first expected it was going to be Kevin - but worked so much better as Todd Packer. Who's got 2 thumbs and is going to pants Todd Pack -This Guy. Hooray for Jim, the Hero.

Looking forward to reading more, Glad it's a weekend. Got some writing to do but on my breaks I'll be deep diving into more Silver Wings. Oh BTW, if you can't tell what i think - great job so far.

Author's Response:

I don't think it was intentional for me to have a parallel with the broken elevator and The Big Bang Theory here. I think at one point I was thinking I'd have the elevator be broken in order to have a little hidey hole sneak off place for Jim and Pam. Though when you put it like that I can see the parallels.

Glad the New York scenes are ringing true to someone who used to live in the area. I've only visited NYC a couple times in my life and have never been through Grand Central. Seen a few documentaries on it over the years though. I kinda liked being able to split Roy and Pam right away. My thought was that since Pam is still living at home, she'd have a better sense of perspective about Roy and come to that conclusion a little earlier.

It's always fun to have Packer get what's coming to him. And even better as a way to introduce Jim to the story.

Thank you for your own in depth reviews for this one. I love reading your thoughts on it all. I'm very glad you're liking it so far.

Ok Warrior I am loving this story - for lots of reasons...lets go bit by bit...

I grew up very close to Mitchell Field. I don't even know the history of it so you did your research - and all the references - you are military or ex-military? Of really good at delving into research for your story?

Enjoy this moment,” he whispered. “Because you’re never going to go back to a time before you met our squad-mate Dwight.” How you brought all the little references and pranks into the story her - just delightful.

I can See Pam being affected by the newsreels - (sidenote to you if you can you might enjoy the Plot Against America -HBO miniseries based on Norman Roth book - 1st few episodes slower but gets good at end).

Swing dancing - such a nice scene him teaching her to dance and I can just hear the big bands playing. Plus the line - Because the lady is always right, that’s why.

I'm sure there's something I'm forgetting so just know it was all great.

Can't wait to go to the beach.

So glad I finally decided to dive into this one.

I will have to add the rest of my jellybeans later now that I know I only have 5 to dole out.

PS - wow I thought for sure you had made the elevator out a nod to BBT with the name and all - serendipitous coincidence I guess.

Author's Response:

Glad you're liking things thus far. That's fun about Mitchell Field. I just got my info about it off Wikipediea. It was a WWII military base near NYC so it fit for the story I had planned. I'm not military or ex-military. However aviation and military history have long been hobbies of mine so it's fun to indulge them a bit with this story.

As AU as this story is, I feel it's important to keep it grounded to the characters, lines, and situations from The Office. I'm sure you'll catch more things like that as we go on. I'll have to look into that miniseries.

The swing dancing was fun. Especially because back when I was in paramedic school, after class I'd meet my girlfriend (now wife) and we'd go swing dancing. Those were some of the cues they used to teach us.

Can't wait to hear what you think of the trip to Coney Island. Thanks again.

A www what a sweet chapter but I especially liked the chapter end notes. It so touching when real life is seen into the fics.

Like how the hot sauce and pencil find their way in. Just a real nice snapshot of a great day at Coney Island. And the first kiss.

Author's Response: Thanks Maxine. I had a lot of fun with this chapter. Figured Jim and Pam could use a great weekend together to start out their relationship in this world. Glad you liked it.

Just finished another great chapter. I really loved the letter. The canvas bit was just artful (no pun intended- well maybe it was). You really are doing your homework too. As a NYer who used to commute in for work before moving to the city I know that Lirr goes into Penn station and not Grand Central. (It was a pretty frustrating thing when I lived on Long Island and worked across from Grand Central).

I will say I was kind of taken aback by Helene but I was thinking it may have had something to do with the era. I am glad you explained in your chapter notes.

I'm very excited for Pam to head back to city. I miss my city so much (moved from there 8 years ago) and I imagine between tour research and descriptive imagery I'll get to visit in my mind even if a different time.

Author's Response:

I honestly don't remember if I researched that bit about the LIRR and Penn vs Grand Central Station. Still I'm glad I could add another bit of realism, especially for a NYer. I do remember researching train routes from NYC to Scranton though. I also had to go back and re-read this chapter to remember everything you were talking about. Not that I mind really.

It's been a lot of fun exploring this dynamic with Pam and Helene. It's been a challenge to be sure.

And yes back to New York for Pam. Thanks for the review as always.

im going deep diving but I'm having loads of fun doing it especially stumbling on this one

The picture you painted of the family watching the game is just adorable with the rivalry and the innocence and the love.

And all the references in the story - bonus fun. now I know them from Office Ladies but they must have been from other sources and I'm sure I missed some since I only became an Office Fan in 2020. GBBS and bread, watching the game Pam and Phyllis in their trailer, 13 hours all made this playful yarn even more fun. I did have to look up the Gloria reference but that when I did I smiled again.

Personal note : not much of a hockey fan anymore but did live on LI during the islanders heyday and the parades used to go right down my street - I lived near the collsium where they played (I'm a bit older than most around here, in age but not spirit) so once again your story brought up some old memories. So thanks again.

Author's Response:

Thanks for looking into this one too Maxine. The other big real world references here was that John and Jenna had a bit of a Twitter war going back and forth during the Stanley Cup finals that year. I used a lot of their tweets as dialoge between Jim and Pam. Mainly in the "Stanley's going home with Pam tonight" and "So that's how you want to play this Beesly?" So that was fun. All the other references were just fun things I put in as a laugh.

I only watched Game 7 that year, took notes of things, and then wrote this story the next day. It was fun. Thanks for taking the time to review. I'm glad you enjoyed it so much.

Origin stories always a big hit for me so learning where the French came from a treat to read. Your writing style is so pleasing and entertaining.

I developed sympathy for Karen in my own writing of her POV but this takes it to a whole other level. Bravo.

A newcomer to both the reading and writing of Office fan fiction (and fan fiction in general as well as The Office) I’ve been sampling the local flavor of the authors who have an obvious following (and for good reason). Hoping not to get too intimidated but hard not too when I read stories like this with such rich back stories and strong narratives. Looking forward to discovering more of your stuff and hoping to find some time to read more of the chapter fiction when I have more time.

Another wonderful story.
Mr. Rogers was a part of my childhood so it was a trip down memory lane for me too. One that reminded me of the 7 year old who answered a call for her father from a Mr ROGERS (a common name after all) and could not contain her excitement that Mr. Rogers was on the phone for her dad.

Pam is a wise and resourceful mom. Jim rocks too for relieving her from dinner duties. And you rock too for being one of the helpers you mention in your story.

Author's Response: Thanks. It was fun to bring this one to life. I remember I'd had a few rough shifts at work and somehow the YouTube rabbit hole led me to that quote from Mr. Rogers. It helped. The great thing about writing is it can help us all in so many ways and I wanted to share some of that with the community here at MTT. Glad you liked it.

I feel you - it's powerful and truthful and so well written. What I most love is that while her body has gone home with him, her soul has not, and I'm so glad in your narrative she is unable to ignore what her heart is screaming. So glad she left. I always hated that she went back again. No matter how lonely she was feeling. There is so much truth though here - I even have some of the same real life experiences from the drunken-ex calling to the going back again for another attempt - so I am so moved and lost in your story.

I'm a real newbie here- only discovered The Office while in quarantine and then this site shortly after, and began my own fan-fiction a month or so ago. With not a lot of time to get lost in multi-chapter stories, I've been trying to sample the shorter works of the local legends and hope I don't get too intimidated by the talent I come across. But I am so glad I came to your story, here, even if I feel a little humbled.

There's a part towards the end when she interacts with Roy and then Jim that so resonated with me - it's a feeling, an idea, that I have in my rough draft of a chapter that I've yet to post but will be coming soon in my new fiction. What I love is when I find other reader/writers who have same though process - it reaffirms what I felt watching the show. I will admit it scares me a little too to read too much of others stuff for fear of being unoriginal but I'm hoping that I bring my own spin to things - after all we are all writing for the same characters.

All that to say, I love your style and loved this story. I, if you can't already tell, I tend to be wordy and verbose, but you have a talent in saying it all with such succinctness but with no less emotion. Again beautiful. Can't wait to read more of your stuff.

Author's Response: Thank you for this kind and detailed review, Maxine. Welcome to The Office, MTT and writing - it’s lovely to have you here!

I look forward to seeing what you come up with. There’s been an influx of new content on the site recently - that coupled with a lot going on at work has left me a lot slower to read/review. I’ve been meaning to catch up with your story - I promise I will at some point in the not too distant future.
You’re right, we’re all writing from the same source material. There’s bound to be some similarities from time to time. Although, there are a lot of talented writers on this site that do a fantastic job of creating their own recognizable, but distinct versions of Pam and Jim. I recommend all the reading! I don’t think you’ll lose your own style in seeing what’s out there :)
Thanks again!

I'm of the opinion that considering all the angst Jim and Pam went through to get to each other, and S9 shennanigans, they deserve nice happy times for the most part moving forwards.

Also glad you like my writing style. One of my favorite authors once said that when writing, "paint a picture with words." So that's what I try to do. Glad that works for you.

“What was the point of secrets anymore, for three years he had kept this inside hoping it would fade but could only feel it getting stronger. Pam would reject him, Jim knew that, but at least he could say he was honest.” An alternate take on Casino Night.

Break my heart why don't you. There was so much to love about this chapter. Everything I thought was about to happen and then you twist. Each time took me by surprise. Their coming together so real, so satisfying. That made the end hurt that much more. (Still loved the chapter, the way you made me see it all through your writing). Nervous about what's next.
Well done.

Author's Response: Yes my hand slipped and I made the end of this chapter really angsty XD It hurt to write but hopefully that makes what comes next more satisfying(don’t be nervous). Thanks so much for reading!

Ok so this explains one thing - with him spending so long on shaving it's no wonder he doesn't have the time to take a comb to his hair... not sure if Jim is this facetious about his grooming although the reference to the grandfather helps me buy it and the contrast to Roy helps too -- plus I enjoyed the story so much I'll buy it for the sake of getting this story from it.

Another wonderful little slice piece.

As you could imagine I was delighted about the prankster in Pam and the innuendo suggested both pre and post shave - I like the subtle hints rather than the outright descriptions. This feels very true to the Pam and Jim I picture in this stage of their life.

I noticed other details like:

"noticing other details"

her grinning at the view

Pam's recognition of his smell

clutter of the apt - three added towels to it.

Your stuff always so enjoyable - lately coffee and your one-offs precede my morning commute. Glad you are always writing more as I have been devouring your stuff that pre-dated my MTT addiction.

Author's Response: Thanks as always Maxine. Glad you liked all the little and more subtle moments I put in this one. I'm glad I can help you enjoy the pre-communte part of the morning just a bit more.

Summary:

In their new house in Austin, Pam gets inspired by a certain Taylor Swift song and leaves out one of her old journals by accident. Jim gets Pam's perspective of The Job and some other events from season 3.

Just a cute little one-shot of future Jam reminiscing over old memories.

So after I saw you're ditto on my rec I had to come check out your stuff. Right off the bat I was feeling it. Stuff we saw so alike.

I'm about to say the sac religious here but I'm not familiar with Folklore. That said I love the way you tie lyrics to sentiment and feelings. Lyrical inspiration is always so strong.

Aside from the deep insights to Pam's mindset I like the little bits about the toys. I love these little details in stories. Not only do I feel like it gives more depth to Jam but also to the writer behind the story.

I liked the little callback to Philly Jim and his Avatar.

Promise to check out your other story soon. So much to read so little time but it's on my bookshelf. Meantime glad I got to enjoy this one.

What a simple, wonderful, concise, amazing story. A 55 word snapshot of each season, each one as lovely to read as the last (maybe the third had a little sting). Hoping to find time to read the longer stories you have in my tour of the works of the local legends. Love these little ones to get a taste of what I have to look forward to.

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I am so glad you enjoyed them. These are some of my favorite little things that Iíve written and it means so much that people like them!

Summary: "About five weeks after Jim started at Dunder Mifflin, he and Dwight went 15 hours and 42 minutes of work time without fighting. We haven’t come within a full workday of that record since… until now."

I was smiling from the moment I read the disclaimer. What fun! key moments for me were the no-hitter reference. I had a lot to learn when my son became a all-star, little league player. I have since become well versed in baseball dos and don’ts and would also know as well. And Oscar, you nailed him. I heard his voice and saw his face at that moment. So much fun. Thanks for the laugh.

Author's Response: I'm really glad you liked it! Definitely got attached to this fandom for Jim and Pam rather than the comedic side, but these are fun characters to just let mess around.

Really great start. Your writing is very natural, easily read and yet very entertaining. I especially like the part about watching her at the Dundies. I like that you explained its plausibility since not quite what we saw on show...I do that too. Looking forward to seeing more from this story.
