I just knew that Gerald was going to have a bad reaction to the baby. He is like the dad in that song
The Cat’s in the cradle. It was good to see Jim stand up for himself, and Pam, to his dad. I think Gerald has the wrong idea of what makes a good dad, and if Gerald keeps up the same attitude he won’t have a relationship with his grandchild because he won’t have one with his son. If I were Betsy I would have been very upset at my husband for being so cold
to our son that Jim would leave their holiday.
Also Gerald doesn’t seem to like the idea that Pam has her own company either. It’s like he would rather
Jim be with Katy who, in canon, was a shallow airhead that would just sit on the sidelines of Jim’s life so he can work. I don’t think Gerald likes the idea of Jim being with a woman who can contribute to Jim’s business and career. Also Jim going to the doctor appointments with Pam is not slopping
in the middle of the day. Jim has probably done more as father by going to Pam’s doctor appointments than Gerald has ever done as a father.

It's pretty clear Jim's dad is shaping the kind of father that Jim wants to be, so that he won't end up like his dad. I guess there are different priorities, but I'm sure in the end we'll see that Gerald does love him, it's just his way of showing it isn't quite what Jim needs.

Even if there was no Jim in Pam’s life,
Cathy is very disrespectful to her boss.
Cathy and Karen are cut from the same thirsty
cloth. They’re both so full of themselves
that they can’t see disinterest if it slapped them in the face, which is something I would love to see Pam do. I can’t wait to see their reactions to Pam being pregnant.😈 I loved Pam’s dress and shoes.

I would hate being that bitter in life.

I’m really curious about Gerald’s background in
Scranton, because he just keeps getting mixed messages from his dad. Perhaps Jim should just give up on having a deep and meaningful relationship with his dad and just try to be cordial with him. It was good to see that no one else backed up Gerald’s opinion at the dinner like he was looking for.

Love Actually is very dear to me heart - if you haven't read Jim and Pammy make a Porno, it's all about that scene and I loved that it was Tim!!

We'll find out eventually what's Gerald's deal is I promise! Next update will most like be in the new year as there's an Xmas fic I need to write!!!! But I shall try my best for sooner!

Interesting story.
I can’t bring myself to feel bad for Jim because
he was such an ass in season three. If Jim would
only open his eyes then he would see that the only
reason why Pam would be with Roy again was because of himself.
Jim was so busy feeling sorry for himself he
couldn’t see that he had become the very man
he thought Roy was. So yes pam deserved better.
Better than Jim.

Actions speak louder than words.
Roy’s proposal was awful and so completely him.
I think Pam and Roy were together for so long is because they were each other’s comfort zone.
So when Jim came along it disrupted the only thing that they ever knew, and I think that’s why Pam was having a lot on confusing thoughts and feelings.
Roy and Pam were never going to have an adult relationship with each other. They would always be
in their high school relationship no matter how old they got, and it seems that the Pamin this story is starting to realize it.

Author's Response: Yup, all that's the point. To get Pam and Jim both think about their various relationships with an adult mindset and clear reason rather than just the feelings of everything. Early season Pam is also scared of change unless its forced on her. So what would it be like if change comes via a mentor type relationship versus a desperate declaration? Glad you liked it.

Yay I’m so glad that you updated this story!
Jim was smart to listen to Sam about being a good man. It made Jim smart to be there for Pam, but to not jump the gun about telling her that he has feelings for her because the timing would have been all wrong. I do think that Sam and Beth are good for Jam because they can help him and Pam see things from a different perspective.
