Oh MrsK!!!! This was just beyond, beyond, BEYOND girl! It was the sweetest, kindest surprise to wake up to on my birthday! I cannot tell you how much it warmed my heart… and made me a little warm too! I haven’t yet rewatched Basketball after you told me you loved Jim in this episode, but now I will!! I just love how as Pam tries to talk herself out of thinking about him at the game long ago, she can’t really stop thinking about Jim heavy breathing in a different way in that old tee! You captured such sweet early season 4 Jam in this and I loved it.. the sweet couple no longer afraid to show the world they’re together and madly in love… whether it interrupts work or in this case, a community center basketball game, you found that excited, new, bubbly Jam that it just so welcome after season 3 angst. I am not worthy… And the visuals?? OMG. You’re just the BEST!! Thank you!!!

Author's Response:

Well happy birthday! You truly deserve it, what with the reviews you leave and pics you send me. I'm not sure there would have been any other fic that would have done you justice (I hope this goes some way to it!!)

And PLEASE rewatch this episode, I beg of you!!

Oh my goodness. Jim in a cozy cardigan. I cannot tell you how much I love this!!! And all of the cardigans we’ve discussed at length! WITH some of my back story!! And a little bit of Jam’s first date, which was the sweetest thing EVER!! I love that Pam has HER trusty cardigan ready to go— but let’s be honest… I kind of expected PAM to be the who needed to be kept warm, not Jim!! I can see that beautiful little scene with the cherry blossom trees (so sweet!) and it’s perfect! Again, this is just perfect fluffy new Jam love and it’s THE BEST!!! Cute callback to Michael’s dry cleaned jeans too… and I love that Pam picked him up that lovely cardigan on her travels there! I don’t blame her for taking off the cardigan as soon as he put it on either… because LOOK AT THAT PIC!!

OF COURSE our Jim would wear a tie to meet Pam’s parents as her boyfriend… he does have very nice manners!! I’m disappointed that Pam couldn’t see the missing button on his cardigan, but I’m very well versed in simple sewing such as that so if Jim needs that button fixed I’m more than able to help him!

Of course my FAVE cardigan story is the chunky dark cardigan that Larissa gifted him. I can totally see Pam stealing it for cozy weekends on the couch! I can also see Jim wrapping her up in said cozy cardi as he reads to her on a rainy day… sigh… this is the life I NEED!

I love your take on the Gucci hipster cardigan too… def from a stylist with makeup and hair, and I love that Athleap needs some new hipster headshots— and that Pam was there to witness the awkwardness of that particular cardigan— and I love that they’re still laughing together. Did she want that cardi to use for some Jam sexcapades reliving the chunky black cardigan’s magic??? Jk, Jk… but I love me some Jim in a cardigan!!! Thank you my love!

Author's Response: Well this was the one that set it all off, so I'm glad you liked it! And you know I had to write more than one cardigan, because he looks so good in the all!

Oh MrsK…. Pillow talk??? Hint of smut??? Even if this wet Jim is for you, I’m still all into it!!! I can’t decide if I’m in the camp of Jam having a simple dinner and first date kiss OR if they had an extended date like this… but I think it’s terrible that it’d have to be on a work night!!! Nevertheless, you definitely sold me on wet Jim in a towel… especially without the bandage, cause you know this RN would need a backstory!

I COMPLETELY see Michael needing hair and makeup for a Ryan call because he needs to make his best impression— hilarious, and worth another story to read about Pam’s intense morning pulling that together for Michael!!

I love that one of Pam’s top 5 regrets of her life is not joining Jim in the shower too… but it looks like she’ll get a chance to have a do over very, very shortly… how sweet are they with their little banter… and I especially love a flustered Pam hiding from Jim underneath his sheets… so sweet and sexy ;) Nice morning indeed! Thank you for this chapter that I didn’t even know I wanted!!!

Author's Response: I'll happily share wet Jim. Glad you liked it in the end!!

Another sweater pic? Oh girl…. I know we both love that sweater! And I’m pretty sure once Pam saw it on Jim, she loved it too— even if it was made out of the same wool that Pam’s sweater was made of… speaking of, why does Helene have so much of this yarn?!?! I love your Jim in this chapter, but really, every Jim you write. Just quietly, confidently letting Pam find her voice and her way to vocalize her feelings to him. I also love the reveal that of course he looked at her that day… because honestly, how could he not? She DID look really pretty that day.

And real smut?? This is a pretty daring Jam fueled by some wine… I’m hopeful too that the lack of streetlights and an empty park gave them some alone time to create new sweater memories for both of them… you’re just the best! This is so darling and sweet and sexy and I just can’t tell you how happy it all makes me! Another winner!!

Author's Response: The sweater of our dreams! Glad you like the backstory for this one!

This one is just. So. Darling!!!!! First of all, JIM. Saying that a baby and a toddler will be “easy” while the baby is an immobile infant is *probably* the parenting version of saying “it’s pretty quiet around here” in a hospital—- literally the world hears, and sends a giant middle finger in the form of just awful moments… surely Jim learned his lesson after this, I hope! What a joyful, sweet little moment where Cece meets Philip. I imagine that’s how most first sibling meeting go— that new novelty wears off REAL quick— only speaking as an almost 4 year old meeting my little brother— who actually did come home on my actual 4th birthday and I was not very impressed or appreciative of that!

But God love Jim for being hands on dad and going though all those tee shirts without complaint. I love that he’s contemplating the pee shirt being not terrible until it’s soaked by Cece’s bath water— again, on a terrible work day, depending on the location, type, and amount of body fluid, if I’ve completed more hours than I have left, I might just go the Jim route and say fuck it… really selling this nursing thing here, huh? Lol..I also relate to Jim as always having at least some percentage of my clothing perpetually in a laundry basket… it’s cool, Jim. Totally cool.

You, on the other hand, are not selling this two baby thing MrsK! Was I this horrible to my parents?? How did Jim and Pam not just lose it here? And what was this wild sex shirt of which you speak?!?! I feel another story… For some reason (maybe the accompanying pic?) I’m thinking Jim flirtatiously delivers his “Im gonna need you to be a little more careful about your clothes Mrs. Halpert” and I adored that… because it’s totally one of the things we love about Jam… humor and flirting in the midst of mass chaos…

I love that you worked the scrambled egg bit in too! And what a sweet little ending… because even in the midst of all that, Jam remembered what is truly important— and it’s memories like those that will make you howl laughing at the circumstances surrounding such a great moment of love! Although, for my next birthday, I may need the back story of this shirt. If I write a series on Jim’s accessories for your birthday, do we have a deal? Im open to negotiations… hahaha ;) these were soooooo sooo sweet and I love them and you dearly… thank you again so much… it truly warmed my heart! Lots of love and gratitude my friend!!

Author's Response:

Happy birthday again!! So happy you liked all of these. Obviously had to get the scrambled eggs in there for you! Let's see how the negotiations go haha!!

Thank you for all of these EPIC reviews! You really are the best!

Not gonna lie… could it have worked out with Susie? I mean, the girl loved Judy Blume— couldn’t be that bad, right?!?!? Just kidding, just kidding!!! I love that Jim isn’t quite sure what a truffle is, just that it’s something fancy and special to give a Valentine! And Pam… poor Pam… you are kind of selling me on Tommy over Roy, even if Tommy didn’t appreciate her pun— but WHY is a 6 year old Isabel getting roses?!?!?!?!? So sweet… I always love your holiday treats for us! You’re too sweet to us MrsK!!!!

Author's Response:

Noooo not Susie!! But yeah totally Tommy over Roy hahah

Thanks for your kind words!

Oooof. These are some terrible Valentine’s Days for both Jim and Pam. You write the most cringey Roy that I cannot stand… just super clueless, oblivious, and selfish. Poor Pam… and listen, you can totally let her get pineapple on her half of the pizza! If this is Roy trying… it’s not so good.

And Jim… poor Jim. Clearly pining for his soulmate Pam. At Luca’s… they’ll get there… just gotta get through this cringey Valentine’s Day first. Although, I will agree with Karen… carnations? I’ve never understood this about Pam, and don’t even really think they actually were her favorite flower. That being said… if one is presented even with said carnations… one should respond graciously and acknowledge the gesture of kindness! I loved how Jim was so miserable on this date that he was even contemplating the paper costs of the menu… pretty bad, clearly. However, I’m hopeful you’ll soothe us over in the next chapter with a shared appetizer and some of that penne ala vodka??? Lovely as always friend!!! Thank you for sharing!

Author's Response:

You know I hate Roy, so I love to write him like this!

Carnations…yeah I don’t like them either, but Jim got them for her the following year, so I guess she does like them!

Glad you liked this chapter!!

I loved your title names so much… Pam and Jim’s first Valentine’s, their last Valentine’s, and now, their Forever (Every) Valentine’s! Very creative! I too, like Jim, forgot about the horrible comment Roy made to Pam until you reminded me… ugh… did you hear that universal cringe???

I love how Pam literally made sure Jim had a Valentine’s Day kiss literally the second he woke up—so sweet! And his card to 6 year old Pam is actually an acceptable use of Pammy— pretty much the ONLY acceptable use!

I love 9 year old Jim too… SO appropriate for that age! And middle school Jim brought me back… we’d always do those carnation deliveries and I loved them! At work we just did candy grams on Valentine’s Day and it was so fun!! Good job Jim! In fact, all of teenage Jim brought me back.. including the movies! How appropriate that they saw 27 Dresses… perhaps a nod to the Booze Cruise 27 seconds of silence? Perhaps my fave was Jim and Pam sneaking into his parents home for a basement couch hook up… only to be interrupted by said parents… SO appropriate for 16 year old Valentines Day!

College V Day was so funny.. especially them waking up post weed… but adult V Days were the best… love their eventual date at Luca’s because that’s so what Jim would do… make it just slightly different than a dinner date but even more special by arranging a special private morning brunch… and the key was perfect! The mini golf “instruction” by Jim was funny and sweet, because I can totally see Jam (especially Jim) getting cozy with Pam in the guise of helping her perfect her putt. I loved the dad getting annoyed behind them too! So appropriate!

The last two Valentines are the best… going back to the roof with grilled cheese and the picnic blanket… especially because Pam too recognized the magic of that moment with her sketch. Of course it was so meaningful to Jim! I loved his “recovery” Valentines gift too— one they will surely make good use of!

Thank you for this sweet Valentines celebration! You always write the sweetest fic for Jam, especially for the holidays! It’s always delightful to see what you’ve done next! And to think, eventually, we’ll have an HD Jam Valentines Day too!!! Coming up soon, right?!?!? Jk jk jk… kind of! Happy Valentine’s Day to you too! This was the sweetest gift to us from you!

Author's Response: Ah thank you so much for yet ANOTHER epic review!!! So glad you liked this one! And don’t worry, there will be an epic HD vday planned!

I love that Holly is Pam’s teacher… I can just see how kind and sweet and understanding she is with Pam— and how much she wants Pam to find her words! Of course we’re already getting a little inkling of who Roy is too.

This is such fascinating insight into selective mutism because of course Pam isn’t delayed… just anxious… but it’s hard for everyone else to see that. You can feel Helene’s anguish too.. especially when she has to convince Bill that they need to take her to a specialist. You write Pam in such a sweet, hopeful voice who just wants her parents to be proud of her… and that personification of the Monster who sits on her chest and keeps her words in… wow. Amazing insight! I love that Holly and Helene keep trying to bring her words out everyday… there’s always that little bit of hope that she can do it the next day— and I love that hopefulness— thank you for sharing and posting!!!

Author's Response: Thank you! I’m so glad you enjoy it! Can’t wait to write more for y’all!

I love Helene trying to get Pam to speak… very good ideas, definitely sneaky! Oh Meemaw… this sounds like it’s gonna be terrifying. I can feel for both Pam and Helene in this situation, as it’s clear that she’s getting little support from Bill and just a negative vibe overall from Meemaw. Such profound points about Pam at the end too, not taking chances. And that being silent is supposed to be good, because you don’t upset people… but in this case, it does. Too much for sweet little Pam to carry. Again, great chapter! I’m very invested in this sweet young Pam! This is excellent!!

Author's Response: Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!!

What a terribly perfect role for Jan here— though I know speech language pathologists aren’t terrible people, this clearly isn’t the person who can help Pam. I so feel for how little Pam tries sooo hard to make her words come out— and has to apologize when they don’t. What a tough place to be in! My heart aches for her! Fantastic chapter!

Author's Response: Thank you so much, she certainly fits the role the was to be filled in this story!

I knew who Pam’s teacher was before I even saw the words Mr. Scott! He would probably be a great elementary teacher… the kids would love him! Funny callbacks to Michael hitting on Helene, then saying she’s too old for him! Sweet Pam definitely has some good stories to share at dinner with her family from that classroom! There’s a hopefulness in this chapter that I definitely feel in your writing! Whether it came from Michael’s interactions with his parrot or not, hopefully it gets Pam on the right track to finding her words!! Great chapter!

Author's Response: Thank so much! This one was super enjoyable to write because of Micheal!

I’m so relieved that Pam seems to have a reasonable plan to help her find her words! I know it won’t be easy, but it seems doable in small steps. Of course, Roy won’t make it easy, but perhaps Jim can come along?? I hope Bill and Helene will see small steps of improvement in their girl! This is so good and I adore this AU!

Author's Response: Thank you so much, I’m so glad you enjoy it! There is improvement to come!

Oh Jim!! This is so sweet and hopeful. From Michael the teacher to Dwight in his overalls and dress shoes (and always , ALWAYS, about beets) to Roy the bully these are such great interpretations of Office characters. Of course Jim is patient and can interpret Pam’s expressions and face… no one else has been patient enough! Love that Pam feels at ease around him— and love the Jello call back! Delightful chapter!

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I love adding in little call backs!

How profound for young Jim to do the right thing! His mom should be VERY proud! Clearly she’s bringing home such great lessons from her work in psych which are translating to teaching her son compassion. I’m so glad Pam has found a friend who accepts her, words or no words, but also realizes that she has something to say— and that if you’re patient enough, you can even communicate with her without words. The yellow sun at the end symbolizes to me that sunnier days are coming for our Pam— thanks to our Jim. Love it!!!!

What a testament to teachers! And oh Jim. Picking up on Pam drawing what she wants to say. How incredible! And of course, so true to canon Pam! The callbacks to jello, Dwight’s stapler, and the teal teapot are just icing on the cake! Can’t wait to see the prank come to life— and more sweet Jam!!

What a significant statement in that she’s cracked the glass of her box— this is truly seeming to be a turning point for Pam! And with the help of Jim— I just love it! The pranks were never for Jim… but I have a feeling that they’re going to be to help Pam find her voice! Love Jim’s mention of them being a great team— yes Jim, yes you are! Go Jam!!! You have the sweetest metaphors to describe Pam’s mutism— they are so descriptive and thoughtful. I love this ride home with Helene being cautiously optimistic, Penny singing Pam’s praises, and Pam bursting with pride— all while Helene must negotiate then safely across town in rush hour traffic! Mr. Scott as first grade teacher with Jim, Pam, and Dwight as students?? Oh wait… you’re writing that!!! lol. And then we end with this sweet swing imagery which, to me, everything about Jim and Pam. What a great description of Jim and Pam in how he felt rewarded for reading her through the silence of not speaking… similar to when they spoke without words— only glances and looks throughout the show. I work in the operating room and even before masks and the pandemic, I totally got this—you can have entire CONVERSATIONS without words, simply glances, eye rolls, smile crinkles, etc! Def in contrast to Katy’s babbling constant chatter. And yes, Pam is making progress! So glad she’s realized that she can speak without words! That used to kill me about the pandemic. When people would complain about “missing smiles” and “facial expressions”… you can read soooo much non verbally from the eyes up!!!
