Drug Testing and Jinx - one of the sweetest Jim/Pam storylines for Season Two.

And that scene - you can tell me anything... you can just tell that both of them know something changed from joking to serious.

And I love the way you continued the scene and he gave her the card, and the card... awww... it was so perfect and simple and it said what it needed to say without extra words, and is just wonderful.

It was so great how they talked in thoughts.

Great story.

Author's Response: Thanks, EmilyHalpert!  Glad to hear you liked it :)

"I can’t…

And he’s tired of it. Because it’s simply not true. She can do whatever she wants. "
Ah, but it is so hard to believe that sometimes.

This story half made me cry half made me happy. Well, the happy was at the end which was fully happy because she told Roy she couldn't, and that is good, but it was so painful for the first part. I loved the way it was all tied together and it did start off sad, but the same phrase turned happy.

Author's Response:

EH - I am the worst review replier on the planet.  I am so sorry.  Thanks so much for the review.  I'm so glad you liked it!!!

I like how Angela interfers even though she doesn't want to. It is very Angela.

""It's simple." His lips graze the top of her head as he whispers almost too low for her to hear. "Choose me.""
So, low sexy voice and choose me.... gah!

Haha, carrying Pam into the house sounds shockingly like what I do when i carry the 22 month old into the house. Its like, pray to god he doesn't wake up as I am unstrapping him from his stroller, I don't jostle him as we walk up the stairs, and try to get his shoes off (and if I feel confident - his diaper), and then get him into the crib.
However, after that is just a giant sigh of relief and a total exhaustion. Nothing at all sexy.

Author's Response:

This was written back when I hoped Jim would just get pissed off enough to not let her get away with it.  Or - what it'd be like if S3 never happened. :)

"Because it's scary."
I think this sums up season three Pam interaction with Jim.

And in general, this chapter really I think captures the confliction that they had post Casino Night... I mean, its all been said before, but, it does work, and it really just, its true. Jim is angry, and Pam is comfortable, and its conflict. And then the line like Pam's smiles are only for Jim. Greatness. Really, if those two could read each others thoughts... well, life would have been easier.

And its like, so wonderful how caring Jim is. Like, how he can make Pam see that it is Roy that has the warped self image of her, and not her. Just needing someone to say stuff like that is really all you need sometimes. I mean, I remember one time my friend said I had nice teeth, and I was like, really, my teeth? But, it totally made my day, and years later, I still think of it. And, so yeah, the fact that Jim does it constantly. And its not so much that he is like Pam could like him (because then it would just be the opposite sorta thing), but its more like, Pam deserves to know how great she is because everyone does, and something like that.

And that entire scene with Jim just telling Pam to admit it was great, and, Pam you can and will! You will call it off!

Author's Response: Exactly my point here.  So glad it came across.

I believe a short review this chapter just because it made me giggle and smile.

Okay, just a few more things - this was such a sweet chapter.

And...
"Impossible. Do you have any idea how long I've waited for this moment?" He says with a grin.

She gives him a look and smiles back in spite of it all. "Umm. Three years?"

"No." He shakes his head at her. His mouth moves over hers as he whispers. "Try forever."

So sweet and one of the best chapter endings I have EVER read

Author's Response: Awwww.  Thank you!!!

So, the conversation between Pam and Roy reminded me of a story my mom told me, and then as i wrote it all out, I couldn't figure out why it reminded me or what connections my brain made, so I didn't share.

But I think this was a very realistic breaking up the wedding scene. And it still sort of fits into the whole way Roy was acting in Season Three...

Author's Response: I think I captured Roy pretty well and what I imagined a discussion between the two of them would be like.  Poor Roy.  I hope he finds a nice girl.

"This isn't good is his only thought."
Nope, that isn't exactly the best signals in the world Jim.

"Two steps forward, five leaps back."
Completely off topic, but there was one day where I tried walking everywhere by taking two steps forward, one step back. It took forever, and I think I gave up after like 20 minutes or less.

""Their species is peculiar." This reminds me of a chemical fact sheet joke thing that was for woman/females... its like Age: Varies but is generally reported as lower. Weight: unable to find out, physical harm, etc. It was really fun. We had it in our lab right next to the real chemical fact sheets.

You have Jim know about Dwangela, even though he didn't really find out until later S3... haha, sorry, I just had to repicture Jim and his face after learning about it.

Who knows, I may have even mentioned this the first time I reviewed it (forever and a day ago)... but Parcheesi is a weird code word for sex for me and a bunch of other nerds. So, we were at nerd camp, and the counselors put on a skit. And somehow, Parcheesi and sex became intertwined. And swiping cards. Which lead to swiping cards with a monkey. God, we are such weird nerds. But, yes, having Parcheesi mean sex makes that conversation about Parcheesi very interesting indeed.

Author's Response:

Yeah - I always took Pam's thinking Dwangela was together during Email Surveillance as Jim sort of buying into it - even if Pam tried to take it back.  But obviously he had no idea.  LOL!

And um...Parcheesi was really only meant to mean Parcheesi here but good to know.  LOL!

Best Greeting Ever: "You come here often?" He whispers, unable to keep the smile from crossing his face.
So totaly Jim!

And I love how understanding Jim is, even though he like, he is angry at her (well, as angry as he can be about her), and unsure, he is also a bit angry at himself, and totally understanding.

I wish I could have more do-overs.

Author's Response:

This might be my favorite scene ever.   Writing it was effortless - their voices were in my head so loud and clear the whole time.

And even though this was technically only the second first date she'd ever had, she was pretty sure that it would never be matched.
And I bet she kinda hopes she won't have a third first date...

"I'm scrappy."
That quote totally reminds me of Friends. Monica is scrappy also :)

I can't wait for three weeks :). I bet Jim can't either...and Pam duh, can't wait!

Author's Response: HEE!!  Yes.  Monica is scrappy too. :)

Ya know, it wasn't until I started watching The Office that I thought of CPR as romantic. But then I started picturing Jim and Pam practicing together, and oh, for concious choking... specially for concious choking. Those two would love to practice that. Sorry, I teach CPR, and my brain gets those two and, yeah. Weird stuff happens.

And Days Of The Young and Restless is so totally Michael!!!

And Jim is waiting for her. I think this story (heck, nearly all the stories here), have just convinced me that Jim is nothing if not perfect. And then reality strikes.

And then break my heart with the last line. You are breaking my heart a lot with this story I do believe.

Author's Response:

Ha!  About the CPR.   Enduring a little heartbreak just makes it sweeter in the end.  At least I hope so!

I agree with Pam. I mean, honestly, Roy couldn't be all bad. I mean, she was with him for ten years, and I think it was a slow process. It was love. But then they both got comfortable, and they both just ya know, Pam got used to it, and stuff like that. But, I still also think that even when Roy was a complete jerk, he probably still did some nice things. Because I think that way it was a harder choice for Pam. Oh I don't know what I am saying anymore

Hugging Jim is like wearing an oversized sweatshirt, she thinks with a sigh. It covers every inch of you and makes you warm all over.
I want a huggable Jim. I love that feeling.

Such a sweet fun chapter.

I probably am like Jim by being a creature of habit. It is Cheerios for breakfast, and peanut butter and jelly for lunch. Daily. Dinner I branch out a little bit... well, I have aout 6-7 meals I will make, but the days vary. And laundry is Monday unless I get way to swamped with school work. Then it is whenever I have a spare second, hopefully before I run out of clean clothes.

I am going to place a wee bit of blame/thanks on you and this story. So, it was forever and a day ago (aka winter time I believe), that I read this story at FF.net, I guess. And I left a review. And you sent me an email (I believe this was before I could remember my login information there, and therefore, it was an anonymous review, just with an email address). And you told me about this site. So then I started visiting this site. And then somewhere shortly after it, fanfic went from being something I read occasionally to being a way of life. So, not sure if it is blame (because I used to have a life outside of the office and mtt), or thanks (because really, it is a fun life here).
But, when I rediscovered that email that you sent me, I just had to reread the story again.

It is so interesting to read this story (which I don't know when it was written, but apparently, unless my memory is totally flawed, it was at least before wintery time), and connect it with what has happened since then.

I love the angry Jim confrontation. Going along with what I just said, I can still believe that Pam doesn't connect that she is the common denominator between angry!Jim, and that the reason he gets angry is when she isn't going for it, she isn't taking a chance, she isn't being all she can be (slightly borrowing from the army - i think - with that last one)

With the wedding responses - you and roy perfect together - honestly, what are they going to say - you and roy are horrible together? Yeah, so two of my friends are engaged, and I have things I want to say to them (neither is quite like roy, its mostly - you've been dating 6 months and you are ENGAGED alreadY!!!!!)... but ya know what, there are some things you just keep quiet about. Unless you are Jim. and I don't mean that in a bad way. Its just Jim's reason for protesting was a different one that others would say. Am I making ANY sense at all... because really, I know what I am trying to say in my head, but trying to make it into words is just producing a lot of goobly gook.

Haha! Well, I guess this was written post-Runaway bride. Which is so funny, since it happened in Atlanta, and I am from Atlanta. And so, Atlanta references are fun. That woman was crazy though. An insane time.

Pam's bit of bravery for cancelling the wedding was very brave, but, she needed just a bit longer (okay way to much longer), until she could get up courage for beach games. Or maybe she just needed to wait for a good sweeps period. Haha.

Love that Jim thinks "stop calling her pammy" because of the whole "don't call me pammy"

Wow, yes, this was just great, and I can totally remember how it was great in the past.

Unfortionatly, my battery on my laptop is nearly dead, and so, I can't read this more until later once I get it charged more *sigh* battery life is dying. But, I am going to reread this again, just because I HAVE to.

Author's Response: Wow.  I'm so sorry (or thankful - not sure what you'd prefer. lol!) to have lured you here.  Thank you so much for your kind review and for rereading.  You rock!

Aww, its the last chapter. It was way enjoyable reading this again, and again, I have to thank you and this insane story for bringing me here and making me have no life outside of the office.

Oh, and you know how I said those two were perfect, this story is. From new babies, weddings, proposals, freakishly tall Jim, and the ending and the how it like comes full circle, and everything.

Just perfect...

Author's Response: Thank you so much Emily.  Sorry it took me so long to come back and reply to you but I wanted you to know how much I appreciate your feedback.  Getting reviews for a story that I wrote ages ago always makes my day.

I have heard such good things about this I had to read it myself. And then I was almost certain I read it before. And then I was like, well, I didn't review it, and I figured this was one I HAD to review, so yeah, I'm confused... anyways, on to the real review...
Haha, I love the "like having a blog, but more embarrasing".... very true. if my life were on camera, i wouldn't even need to speak to completely embarrass myself.
Domestic Parter, and Kevin.
Okay, I think I am going to say here, that if this first bit was any indiction, I may have to start saying the things I don't like.... because, um, yeah, so far this is great. (but, nah, I will just stick to commenting a ton and mentioning everything)
Pam making herself go!! :). Go Pam!!
Its really bugging me, because I know I read this... okay, about 90% sure I read this... maybe I read it when I didn't have an account and couldn't do anonymous reviews? Or maybe I just couldn't see my previous review? Oh well, I am still going to reread it, because, its good.
Trust me Jim, there are plenty of ladies who love you. And fictionally love you, because, you are fictional, as much as we may hate it.
I always am up and wide awake for my 8 am classes. Everyone probably hates me for it. But I kinda naturally wake up at like 6-7, so, yeah, by 8, its like, I have a few cups of coffee without having any coffee really. Lots of energy. And then I crash around noon... (which just happens to also be a boring class)
un-awkward - great phrase!
Aww, such a romantic wedding... already going on their honeymoon.:P
Haha, mentioning Dwight's Speech from Mussolini!
Aww, Jim and teh art museum. And then Jimmy legs. Made me laugh!!!
Gah! That entire paragraph with them getting ready.... they would be so perfect together!
Haha. Wow, normal fancy dinners without Michael... yeah, that is probably boring though!
The whole clinking of glasses reminds me when I was at my aunts wedding... and my cousin clinked the glass... and it broke... we very carefully hid the evidence.... haha
Jim in a towel!!!!!!!!
Okay, so really, I am trying to resist just making a comment at every line (and I am not trying to be like overly flattery at it, I really want to!!!!).... but this line, I really do enjoy, so I felt the need to say it: She takes a step back when he puts her down and touches her hair, her necklace, and settles on tucking her hands in the back pockets of her jeans.
Its just, its everything great.
She didn't tell Jim.... Poor Jim. My heart fell into my stomach. and since I am laying down reading this, it went horizontally, and that takes a lot, because it didn't have gravity to help (that went into weirdness territory).
Snickers! I am addicted to snickers right now... its quite sad.
Okay, so yes, I loved loved loved this even if it was the second time around. It was just, great in every way. Okay, so I am going to end this comment before it gets even longer

Michael would have issues with Jim being the star. Hehe.

And that reference to the climbable tree, is why I will die of embarrassment if I ever meet JK. Because even though my thoughts are totally tame considering whats out there, I know whats out there. And I'd just.... eek.

It is interesting, becauase although Jim and Pam both seem very private, they also let the cameras in more than one would expect. I mean, they were in the car as Jim drove (and turned around) from NYC. Jim told them about the ring. So its sort of weird. Jim, especially. He always gives this air of being somewhat private, protective, but, he also is totally public and open.
Okay, seriously. They are fictional. I know that.

I could tell he was lying. Mostly because I knew you wouldn't let there be a story where Pam and Roy were happy together and Jim was fine with it.

Author's Response: Ha, you caught me- of course Jim isn't happy for them! Thanks for going back and re-reading this old stuff, it is so much fun!  And yeah, Michael...heh.

I would love anything if it was in Jim's car. Wait... um, driving places. Errands. Okay, um... moving on...

My car is only starting to looked lived in, and I've had it for.... 6 years? And its still relatively barren. Right now, its got a hoodie, a bottle of water, and a protien bar in there. And not much else.... and that, honestly, is more than its had ever before. I swear, if it wasn't for the doghair, my car would practically look like it was a rental.

I love that grin also, Jim. :)

I love imagining how high up Pam has to hold the umbrella to get it over Jim's head. Because I am dorky like that.
Oh, and then you mention it which is why I love it even more.

This story was too cute for its own good. I loved it.
