I enjoy your writing and the emotions but until I reread your author's notes, I couldn't pinpoint what was bothering me about this. It's the timing! At the time you wrote this, I totally agree that Pam would feel this way. I guess by now, having been a little frustrated with Pam's inaction, I don't have much sympathy for her. Again, that has nothing to do with how you wrote this but with the feelings I'm carrying over from the show. I did like her becoming aware of how she made Jim feel. And I liked you comparing Jim's absence to being as if all the light and the warmth were sucked out of the room. Hopefully there's still a chance for happily ever after!

Author's Response: The one thing that struck me with your review was your mention of having no sympathy for Pam now. Funnily enough, I wrote this piece because I was mad at Pam because I felt she was so caught up in this fantasy idea of what Jim was supposed to do/be. And now knowing that Jim did make the romantic gesture and she still pushed him away makes me even more angry at her. But I do agree with your hope that there will be a happily ever after.

Nice set-up. Poor Jim, first he's sick, then Pam comes back. Let the awkwardness begin!

You've created such a scene, a mood even, with all the little details I feel like I can hear the snow swirling outside and hear her sensible shoes rubbing on the floor. And you've tapped into something in Angela that feels so intimate. Very nice!

As you said bitterpill, like they (and we) didn't have enough angst last season! But this was so aching and there's longing there and regret and pain... and I wish it would all go away. Great job at creating a mood with so few words.

I loved all of this, really, but the crowning achievement was Andy eating a Pop Tart with a knife and fork. I'm still smiling! Thanks!

You've taken Hot!Tortured!Roy here and made me actually feel a bit sorry for him (and believe me, that's not easy to do!). But no, she can't go back and thank god she realizes that! You've really captured well the angst here, as you always do.

Thing is, Colette, you can take one moment and turn it into something more. All this musing derived from the moment he receives a nod at a sales meeting. "Since then, he’d become an expert on how one moment, one miscalculation, could render the simplest thing impossibly intricate." The angst of Jim, perfectly summed up. And I'm a huge science geek so you hooked me there as well!

(This is why you'll be ghost writing my memoirs!)

Wow. This was charming and as sweet as  - well, strawberry chapstick! Although I do still have a certain fondness for Dr. Pepper Lip Smackers! Very nice.

Author's Response: Thank You!  I'll admit, I lived on Dr.Pepper Lip Smackers for most of my middle school years...but Strawberry Chapstick is special in that you can never find the bloody stuff.  :)
