I guess the best way to describe it is that they were a mere breath away from completely falling apart and then at the last minute, they managed to somehow barely bring it back together. Lovely how this worked out!

7 Very interesting perspective here. I don't usually get into a story that is based on a song I don't know because it evokes certain feelings in different people that are so disparate. In this case though, the story is about Pam dealing with the feelings she's been trying to avoid for so long which is something we can all relate to! I hope she finally is ready to understand. You have some nice images here - is this your first fic?

Interesting idea. I'm not sure I buy the idea that Karen would put up with that - she seems a little too self-confident. But we don't really know much about her and I do like fics where authors take a chance and think outside the box.

Author's Response: Thanks! As much as Pam's working hard to hold it together in front of Jim and be all it's-all-good, she's gotta be just torn up inside. And after everything, I can just imagine Jim being unwilling to act on his instincts about what's going on in her head until she's able to give him a clear sign of what that is.
7 Jim better speak up! I'm confused - are we supposed to think that Mark thought Pam was a bitch or that Jim really said it or did Pam just say it to get a rise out of Jim here? Pam's anger works for me though and I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes.
