I need to catch up on reviews for the other chapters because this is another fic I was so stunned to see updated I gasped. Honestly felt like a holiday morning. I was so excited. And such a great ending. I love the tease to another series of the Halperts (and baby) going on this adventure and revisiting some of the original characters. As always, I am a HUGE fan of your writing and style and really am thrilled to see this rounded out. Not sure if you're out on the fanfic as a whole but if this story continues with this adventure, I would 100% read it.

My favorite things about this chapter ....the first line (well the first 2 lines) and the last line.

There was an intimacy and detail in the first paragraph that conveyed her experience and the shift she felt so beautifully.

Though we know what is to come from Anternum I do hope we will get more of Pamela's thoughts as she continues her "new life" in Philadelphia.

I'm finally getting to review this stunning chapter. Sorry it's taken so long.

Of course, with all that you share, this whole thing was beautifully written and really lets us into her mindset and thoughts, but here is what really stood out to me...

The quick realization there was "no choice at all" in seeing how James reacted to Roy and how he spoke of her...

James offering to keep watch, (so true his character) and her internal debate about "thanking him for his devotion" and her desire to feel those lips. Her thoughts about what he might think and the back and forth.

This line...
“It is impossible to forget about you, Miss Beesly,” he replied, barely above a whisper.

I thoroughly enjoyed the chat between her and Penny (the bit about sex and the horse seemed well adapted to the times) and of course Penny had gotten a peek.

So beautiful that Helene cared to find her a dress and that Pam assured her there was no need - that Mr. Halpert had no expectations.

Loved the addition of Robert Vance and it was such a perfect placement. His backing of Colonel Halpert and assurance of his honor to Helene works so well.

And the description of the kiss at the ceremony with all it conveyed . Her reaction to his kiss as the pivot point for her - -just beautiful.

Another glorious chapter. Your Victorian love scenes are so gorgeous and yet, as I was discussing with MrsK, bear no resemblance to lack of running warm water or showers… granted… Jim has servants to bring hot water, but still! They’re gorgeous and playful and just ooze sweetness and love and soulmates. I love how flirtatious they are and that they just can’t get enough of each other… so good!!

Ooh… what an icy reception from Betsy! I can tell I’ll love Eleanore, but Betsy is very cool. Pam seems very strong though, so it will be interesting to see how she comes to handle the criticism placed upon her character.

Gregoire is a fun character! I laughed out loud at his comment about the dress looking like a peacock mated with a chicken— so Michael Kors on Project Runway which was so hilarious!!! If you haven’t watched, must Google his top quotes!!

And again, their connection continues during dinner. I love this juxtaposition of who James was before he left for war, and how he has returned— and that Pam is the only one who knows this new version of him. I love this very Pretty Woman-esque love scene too with the piano… and oh, then ending?? The I love you? So good!! I’m just in awe!! Loving this story and all it brings… this is such a delightful James and Pam in this AU!! Thank you for sharing!!!

I finally finished this story, and it is oh so bittersweet. Ive told you this before, but I could read this story forever. I sincerely hope book 2 comes out asap as possible, because I will be waiting impatiently for it. James and Pamela have and aways will steal my heart, I adore them so much.

I like how real you made this fic. Like how tough it was being a woman back then, marriage and PSTD at the time. Most of the Halperts & in laws are so rude to Pamela (and James by extension). Loving this story so far!

Author's Response: Thank you! There were certainly some unique challenges back then and it has been fun to write these characters navigating them. Thanks so much for your reviews!

Okay. This review has been a long time coming, as you know, since I decided to reread this from the beginning and then truly savor the chapters so you graciously blessed us with all at once like some kind of fanfiction goddess, which you most certainly are.

And not just a goddess of fanfiction but a goddess of WRITING and not only that, writing INSANELY, INCREDIBLY, AWE-INSPIRINGLY WELL.

Because let's be real, this is a full blown original novel. Sure Jim and Pam are there and they're recognizable in things like Jim's loyalty and desire to do what's right and Pam's tenacity and calm demeanor, but you've created new depths to these characters that we all know so well that it felt like meeting them for the first time. You put them in a brand new time and place and did it in a way that didn't put me right to sleep the way that most historical romances tend to do, but instead kept me captivated and intrigued and wanting to know how all the chips would fall for them at the end. And to leave us with a cliffhanger for book two???? I love you but I also kinda hate you, and I mean that in the very best and most complimentary way because the hate is only because I don't have five other books to read with this version of Jim and Pam and Larissa and Markus and everyone else immediately and I mean IMMEDIATELY. Your writing is the type that I would have left for the library or the bookstore to go get the next book the moment after reading the first one, or rather I would have gone out and gotten them all after reading a single chapter because it's quite clear from the get go that you have an incredible talent that I feel so, so fortunate to get to reap the benefits of. (But speaking of book two, companion novel about Larissa and Markus when?)

I could gush about you and your talent all day. And when I reread this as I know I am going to as it is thankfully on my phone forever and ever, I will likely gush at you again. Thank you so much for being here with us and sharing your talent with us. You're incredible, both as a writer and a person, and I'm proud of you and for you.

Author's Response: You are, quite literally, the best. d84;a039;

James was never really in love with Katy. Probably purely lust.
James is so swooning romantic with Pam. I have no doubt he is in love with her. If he met Pam first instead of Katy.. we know where his real interest would lie. Even if he had to marry Katy for family and convenience. He probably would have fought to not marry her and marry Pam instead.
I get that Katy is hurt and all but she went too far. Pam is a wonderful match for James.
So “The Philadelphia Evening Sentinel” is this AU’s version of Dunder Mifflin?
James is a loving husband. Swoon.
I am glad both have said love yous!

“water seeking a path over stones in a creek bed. “ your imagery is perfection and poetic.

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I always love hearing the thoughts of readers as they move through the different aspects of the story.

The head housekeeper is Phyllis! I suspected it because of Lapin.
In despite of the unconventional circumstances of their marriage I would say they are in love. Because Jam are soulmates and in any world they belong together.
Betsy Halpert is quite rude to Pam. But back then the country was truly divided in half. She sees her as an enemy. Plus her son was supposed to marry someone else but came with another. So it’s possible she is assuming there was something improper happened.
Gr?goire seems like quite a character! Who is he based on?
I like how James is absolutely completely continuously in awe of Pam. In awe of her since first sight.
Pam is his family 😊
Not surprised Larissa is part of the suffrage movement.
Schrute… I know who that is!
James is already so protective of Pam! Sweet husband.

They are one step away from home. I hope Pam will be alright as a southerner in the north.

Both James and Pamela have saved each other from living with people they don't want and people that want to follow what is typical of society. Roy is a caveman and I don't doubt he started the fire. Luckily James is a complete gentleman.

The whole story was amazing. Like I watched a movie and was glued to the screen for hours. And that you want to continue it, that's the best.

This was such a great story and I’ll miss it,
but I love that you are continuing it with Elysian.
I can’t say I’m surprised that Roy’s family thinks it’s entitled to have what it Pam’s.

Author's Response: Thank you! Thank you so much for your reviews and your support of the story. :)

What a sweet little morning after for James and Pam! I love the intimacy of him never waking up before with a woman in his bed--such a lovely little detail you add! Such fun chemistry and banter between the two!

Sweet callback to the conference room scene where Pam falls asleep on Jim's shoulder! Loved that detail too! And another sweet beginning to their second night together... so sexy and deliciously them. I love their conversations spent discovering each other. I can see that Pam is essential to making James feel good about himself... to reflect the goodness in him that he sees in her. I am constantly Googling history stuff as I read this story and I am learning so much! It's quite interesting when you realize how much uproar it will cause when Jim brings home a southern girl that he's married... can't wait to see how this all goes over! The last line was simply perfect-- home is where Pam is. Home for Pam is where James is. Can't wait to read more. This is just so well done!

Author's Response: Thank you! Yes, things get interesting in Philadelphia. I hope you enjoy it :)

"I do not think anyone deserves you but I will happily take the role since you are willing to give it to me." ***sigh*** Why is Jim Halpert SO good in this AU? And thank GOD for Rebecca interrupting Roy and Pam on the night of the fire! I can't imagine that was just fortuitous, either. Go Rebecca!

"He wanted to confess that the thought of spending even a day apart from her scared him to death and from the moment he laid eyes on her he wanted to know every secret she held." I mean... come on. Come on! This love scene is so beautiful, so intimate. Again, it's those details like Jim's nose tracing a pattern on her skin, his eyes roaming her body and pulling her hands away from her covering herself... it's not just sex, it's love. And then their pillow talk? Divine. Simply divine!

Author's Response: Thank you! James is hands down my most favorite iteration of Jim I have ever written. I adore him :)

SO GOOD! I love how Roy has this confrontation with Jim and Mr. Vance (love the Bob reference!) but ultimately, it's Pam who tells him to leave. That's so satisfying.

I'm in love with the way you write such beautiful romantic scenes. You capture the chemistry so well. You can literally feel the chemistry, attraction, and desire between them with your words! Even though they aren't kissing (though they were immediately prior), James's actions like his thumb stroking Pam's cheek and his nose sliding along her cheek are such intimate moments that exhibit such love.

I will never tire either of James' innate sense of Pam's safety. He isn't overbearing or treating her like a damsel in distress, but just senses when he needs to be more protective of her, like when they go to the lodging place, or when the guy delivering the water stares too long at Pam. It's super sexy too! So good!

Author's Response: Thank you so much! You never know how ramntic scenes and loves scenes will be received. James has a very strong protective nature, which some of that is due to the time period and his upbringing, but I adore it nonetheless. Thanks!

Go West young man!

Sad to hear that Helene is ill. And of course more trouble from the Andersons. Figured there would be something from them.

Larissa coming out too? That'll be a hoot and a half for sure. I wonder if Markus will also be making a trek out west. Can't wait to dive in!

Fortes Fortuna Adiuvat!

Enough of the pawns, strike at the king. James' confidence in going to Charles is on full display here. Charles knows he's lost too. In the end he's a bully and as is typical, when faced with someone they can't intimidate, the bully cowers in fear. Great way to round that off.

Then James to come home to seek out his wife. Wonderful. He's overcome his fears. They may still be there of course, but the hope he's found with Pam at his side is so much more powerful than any fear. Wonderful.

Loved the addition of the full poem at the end too. Wish I still had more jellybeans to offer as well.
