Finally caught up on BSG so I could read this!  I like Jim thriving in a post-apocalyptic spaceship, and Pam drawing people's houses was so great.

Author's Response: Wow, thank you so much! Pam and Kara are two of my favorite characters. They're so different, but in some ways they've had similar experiences. ANd I really do think Jim would do well in other circumstances. Thanks again!

Interesting!  Well done--you really got the atmosphere of the fleet down pat. I can totally see Jim rising to the challenge and becoming--to his own amusement--an important guy.  And I loved the bittersweet touch of Pam drawing buildings for people. I thought that was really creative.

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I've never written any BSG before, but I'm glad you thought the feeling was right! The idea that Jim and Pam would thrive in the post-apocalyptic BSG scenario is what prompted this idea. Thank you so much for taking the time to read and comment!

Weird!  But I like it so far. :) Will continue...

Author's Response: Yeah, this is definitely a departure from my norm, that's for sure. I'm so glad you decided to read it!

This is a first, right? Anyway, regardless, I'm delighted you wrote a crossover between two of my favourite shows. I too love Kara (she should be with Lee!), but I had never before seen the parallels between her and Pam...great job!

Author's Response: Yeah, I don't expect to get a lot of traffic on this story- it's definitely a rare bird. But I love these two women so much and I think it's for many of the same reasons. They really do have a lot in common (I tend toward Kara/Lee, myself, but right now they're both too screwed up to be good for each other. Like Jim and Pam in S2? Hee.). Thank you so much for reading!

damn - I didn't realise at first that this was multipart - it is beyond awesome!!!!!  Really, I think you really did a great job pairing Pam and Kara.  They could learn quite a bit from each other.  Is it greedy of me that I want to see Jim show up??  ;-)

Author's Response: Thank you! If you're greedy, I'd hate to have to classify the teeming masses clamoring for more of your story. I loved the idea of Pam and Starbuck- so different, but with a lot in common in so many ways. I liked the idea of Pam being the strong one, here- the grown-up, finally, after all she's been through.

Beautiful.  Truly lovely.  And honestly, I could see RDM himself weaving in second chances as a theme in his own storytelling.  It fits so perfectly with what we've seen this last season.

Author's Response: I'm almost more invested in seeing Pam become the person we see here- strong, assured, happy even in dire circumstances. I think she has so much potential. But I love Starbuck and can't wait to see what her special destiny really is!  Thank you, thank you- for your insightful help and for your wonderful comments!

This is where Pam's new strength really shows through.  Strength from carrying a new life.  Strength from being a survivor.  Strength from having total confidence in someone else's love.  Ah Kara, you frakked up both of 'em on your own.

Author's Response: Poor Kara. I'm not sure she ever had a chance (until now, of course, but we don't know who/what she is now, quite yet). As we discussed, I wanted Pam to be strong because of what she's been through, and who she's been with. I love the idea that they are thriving together.

Honestly, you've just got such a fantastic handle on Kara!  The competing anger and betrayal with genuine interest and hope that there's an answer for herself.

And I know I already told you but it bears repeating.  I love that she wonders what Jim looks like.

Author's Response:

He looks more like Sam than Lee. Just an observation. :)

It was hard, but fun, to speak as Kara. I know Pam so much better (from a fic perspective), but it just didn't work the other way around.  Thank you!

Man.  It's just such great characterization for Kara to find prenancy to be arrogant.  Nice.  And this, too, "Kara felt some of her tension seep away into trust. It was an unsettling feeling" was just so Starbuck.

Author's Response: I adore that you can come up with little things to comment on after you've already read the whole thing. Thank you!

Oh very cool. Dwight would be so proud!!

Author's Response: Heee! Thank you! I am almost as big a geek as Dwight, truly! I hope this inspired you to get back to work on your magnum opus!
