Perhaps breaking the silence had fractured whatever had kept them apart for so long.
Just getting around to reviewing, so...this is a beautiful little story. Love the above line that proved to be true. It was her lakeside invitation to him to come back to her that ultimately provided the impetus for him to forget the job in NY, and return to Scranton.
Ah..the kissing..that's for later :) Thanks for writing this!

"She reaches out for his hand, and their fingers weave together like vines as she leads him to the edge of the water where they break the moon again before watching it put itself back together." This was a beautiful line in a story full of beautiful lines. Very well done!

I love the imagery of this short story. Probably because I'm a huge sucker for the moon, but really, really lovely use of words. :)

Honestly, I sucked in a breath at the line "the moon breaks like glass, shards of it bursting out from the center" and didn't let it out until the end of the story. Just breathtaking - literally. This is haunting and gorgeous and really has the most perfect sense about it - it's so understated, subdued, but at the same time, captures the utter amazement that those two will feel when the do inevitably shatter whatever barriers are between them.
This was simply gorgeous, really.
