I love this. It does a great job of making up for the fact outlined in the title.

Sigh. I love how it really happened but I love this, too. And much like Jim and Pam-- as much as I think I've gotten over them, it doesn't take much to suck me right back in. It was fun to read this to revisit those feelings. Cheers!

This is so incredibly lovely. I like the "real" way it all happened, too, but this is just incredibly sweet.

Awww, sniff.  I actually like the way that they brought up the roof as their "special place" and that they both kept it sacred.  It was a nice conversation to have before the actual engagement.

Author's Response: This is one of those chapters were I knew *kinda* where it was going, but the actual events didn't play out until I started typing.  I do like to think that SWSNBN never stepped one pant-suited foot up there.  :-)  Thanks for reviewing - as usual.  I do appreciate it!!

Really, really nice finish to this story, Mox.  It was very clever how you weaved the whole "being engaged to make someone else jealous" lines in there, and I loved reading more background story on the roof being "their place", and that they both avoided going up there when they were estranged from each other.  And the proposal, simple, heartfelt, very much "them".

We'll see in September how Greg the sadist decides to solve the engagement issue.  But a flashback to a proposal on the roof, even filmed from a discreet distance, would be perfect.

Author's Response: Thanks, EH - It always makes me very happy to know that I've satisfied the hardcore (as it were!) hussies readers.  :-)  Thanks for reviewing!

Greg Daniels...saint or sinner? You know, given the importance of the rooftop of lurve in fanfic, I think in the last episode of the show, it's bound to be the scene of Jim and Pam's abduction by aliens in the final episode (so they can populate a planet in a galaxy far away. Yes, I'm Dwight.) Glad you finished this - it left me smiling, and I'm not in a particularly good mood. ;-)

Author's Response:

funny you should mention that.... I do have a fanfic crossover brewing that involves Doctor Who showing up and offering (nearly) that very same option...

Thanks for reviewing!!

YES!  [/Pam -- followed by running across the room and jumping on Jim]

Rooftop of lurve and cheesy sandwiches and cheesy pizza is the perfect place.  I'm going to pretend this is the mystery flashback they are going to show us in the season premiere.

BTW -- that was a long 9 minutes.  You're lucky it was worth the wait.

Author's Response:

ha - kinda like how long the end of GT to the start of S5 feels, hmm?

And if the mystery flashback is anything like this, I'll send Greg a Thank You card.

Thanks for reviewing!!!!

Greg Daniels may be a sadist, but you sure got even with him!  I loved your proposal scenario and everything you wrote about the roof being "their place".  Your story will keep me satisfied and smiling for a while..at least until I re-watch the end of Goodbye Toby again.  Grrrr.  Well done!

Author's Response: Thanks, Abigail.  I certainly hope S5 starts on a happier note than S4 seemed to end.  Yay for the rooftop! :-)  Thanks for reviewing!

Well what a surprise! LOL Good to have you back!  Great as usual.  I hope you'll be writing more often, I look forward to it.

Author's Response: Thank you - and yes, I'm going to try and get some of those backlogged stories caught up.  So stay tuned.  (Same Bat Time! Same Bat Channel!) :-)

You already know that I adore this, but I suppose I should reiterate it here. I thought that the rooftop was the absolute perfect place for the proposal, and you managed to pull it off without hitting us over the head with meta cliches. Until I'm potentially proven wrong in September, this is the route that I choose to believe that Jim and Pam chose after GT.

Author's Response:

Thanks!  I just had a hard time believing that Pam would let that night go without saying something to Jim.  They haven't gotten this far by falling back into their old pattern of not talking about things.

Glad you liked it!  :-)

How did I not leave a review for the first chapter?  Sometimes I get confused between reviews and emails.  Anyhow, I love this.  I love that Jim didn't take what's her name up to the roof ;)  But mostly I love that this is what I hope happened after Goodbye, Toby aired.  Here's hoping we see them engaged at the start of season 5.  I don't need to see the proposal, I just want to know it happened. :)  Awesome job, once again.

Author's Response: Emails work as good as reviews in my book, so don't worry about it!  And yes, as long as they are really engaged by the start of s5, I'll be disappointed I missed it, but happy it happened.

Oh, Moxie. Was it worth the wait, you ask? Yes. Yes it was.
This was so sweet, and natural. Loved it!

Author's Response: Thanks, ISB - it had been so long since I posted the first chapter that I was afraid people wouldn't even remember the story.  Thanks for reviewing!!

This was beautiful, moxie.  Thanks for giving us Chapter 2.

Moxie, this is marvelous. Thank you so much for adding another installment. The dialog is pitch-perfect Jim and Pam through and through. Please don't stay away for so long next time.

Author's Response: What kind remarks - thank you, Talkative - it's very appreciated!!   I hope I can get back into the routine of writing more again, soon too.  :-)

Oooh, Creepy Toby.  I hadn't expected that.  I love how Pam sucked up her disappointment to give Jim to boost of encouragement he obviously needed.

Author's Response: I remember reading this review - I can't believe I missed replying!  I think one of the elements of Jim & Pam's relationship that strikes me as so true is how they do tend to overlook their own misery if it helps the other person.  Thanks for reviewing!

Oh please, please, please, write more. I'm practically begging. ;)
This is gooood. The season finale was... good, except for that one tiny little fact that is.. JAM. :( scratch the "tiny little", ha ha.
This seems like it'd end a lot better than the season finale did on the JAM front, and I cannot wait for more because.. how am I supposed to survive the wait? :)

Author's Response: haha - thanks for the review, Sonni!  I promise more is coming soon - most likely up by tomorrow morning!

ewwww....Creepy McCreepsters out in the parking lot!  Goodbye Toby indeed!  Can't wait for the proposal. I'm so glad you had Pam just confront him on this.

Author's Response: Yeah, I was tempted to have her say more, but I'm convinced she is really in denial about Toby.  She doesn't want to believe he's being that way, you know?  At least now she's free to go have some fun on the roof.....  Thanks for the comments, LoveFool!  More soon!

Mox it's good to have you back!   You owe us a bunch of chapters on at least 2 or 3 of your fine pieces of work!  I was pissed off at Greg Daniels also and can't stand Toby at all.  But I guess they need material for 30 episodes next season They just better not mess with JAM.  I have a feeling that JAM is the spinoff....  Great writing as usual.  Could you have Jim kick Toby's ass please.

Thanks,

The Batman

Author's Response:

Oh, Batman - you have no idea how often you sit on my shoulder and remind me there is unfinished business in Squirrel II and 12 More Days.  :-)  I have not forgotten, and as soon as I get moved I promise I'll get back to those.  So look for some mid-summer reading.  You are the best for remembering, though!

And the best way to kick Toby's ass is to get that ring on Pam's finger.  So I'll see what I can do.  Thanks for reviewing, as always!!
