This was so incredible. I am at a loss for words. Amazing, breathtaking, fantastic, every compliment ever. Absolutely perfect.

"That over time and with a healthy dose of happiness you could exorcise the ghosts here with a cross made from #2 pencils and holy water synthesized from grape soda and things could be different."

Bam. Right there. This is fantastic work, just absolutely smashing. The imagery is brilliant (in the entire piece, not just the line I quoted).

Author's Response: Thank you so much!

That was lovely.  And what a great point.  That parking lot truly is haunted by what ifs and could have beens.  Why should this have been any different?

Author's Response: Exactly my thinking. Thank you for reading and reviewing!

"Smiles can’t stop you from tripping over casino dice when they’re littering the pavement." Wow, I love this line. Great fic!

He should have done it anywhere else. This is lovely and sort of amazingly perfect. I'm so glad I read it.

Author's Response: Agreed. Thank you so much!

Wow, this is amazing. I was going to point out the "Fireworks...ago" paragraph but it seems that everybody else thought that it was just as beautiful as I did. I love the imagery in that paragraph and throughout; every sentence feels very full but there's never too much. I think I will read this one again and again.

Author's Response: Thank you so much! It's always good to hear that something I wrote was worth a repeat read.

Absolutely breathtaking. You've managed to pack an enormous amount of emotion and thought into such a small space. It's as though there isn't a single wasted word here. Excellent job.

(Small thing, though... I'm pretty sure you meant "exorcise," although I'm sure the ghosts like to stay in shape as well... :D)

Author's Response:

Thank you!

(Heh, thanks. Fixed!)

"Ferris wheels can’t take you so high that you don’t recognize the exact spot where you bled a single tear and the contents of your chest. You can turn your head and kiss her forehead but your periphery can still make out the chalk outline where a part of you died two summers ago."

That's one of *THE* most amazing lines I've ever read in anything.
That line ALONE almost brought me to tears.

Author's Response: Wow, thank you so much! I'm glad that you enjoyed it!

This is absolutely beautiful. The imagery is breathtaking. There are so many lines that I love that I would have to just copy and paste the whole story. Absolutely amazing.

Author's Response: Thank you so much!

Wow. Just wow. This part in particular was soo beautiful:

"Fireworks can’t cauterize the wounds of spirits from the past. Smiles can’t stop you from tripping over casino dice when they’re littering the pavement. Ferris wheels can’t take you so high that you don’t recognize the exact spot where you bled a single tear and the contents of your chest. You can turn your head and kiss her forehead but your periphery can still make out the chalk outline where a part of you died two summers ago."

I for one, would like a follow-up. =)

Author's Response: Well I'm not sure about a follow-up, but we'll see ;) I'll be doing some other post-finale fics, so maybe you'll find something there. Thanks for reading and reviewing!
