JENNA BENNETT - this holiday fic was a delight!

It has everything I love in a story
-a spunky new character we never met before
-ensemble snark and shenanigans that was spot on
-a glimpse at the future with a confident and self-actualized Pam
-Jim mayhem and Jim mush (plus the added bonus of his mini-me in on the mayhem)
-parent perspective - (I have such a soft spot for Jim's mom knowing what it's like to raise boys)
-Roy bashing
and a happy ending.

I do love the Anna character - she's a spitfire.

I just love the way you weave your stories. Your vision is so much what I see in them and for them and you tell it so well.

Note to self -must read more from Jenna Bennett.

Thanks for this!

Happy Holidays!

Oh and the note about tense - I feel you!

JB! Seeing this on the advent calendar really made it feel like Christmas. It slayed me! Sweet Anna and her JTT reference, the looks into the future and how well you wrote the scene with future Jim, it was all so lovely. It gave me all the best warm Christmas feelings. Going on my re-read list for sure!

Ah, I love the glimpse of Pam's Christmas future. Cece in particular seems exactly what you would get from a child raised by the two of them, and this seems accurate to Roy's particular breed of terribleness.

The line with Pam bemoaning someone having to explain the circumstances of her death is hilarious, and I have a lot of love for the whole Anna concept - especially as a Veronica Mars fan. (Really, what fictional character wouldn't be better off with a ghost best friend wandering the Earth until their death is avenged and dispensing fashion advice as a side project?)

Author's Response: Thank you! I do love ghostly Lilly Kane! “Dispensing fashion advice as a side project” is so very apt. Anna was a lot of fun to write - a little sillier than my usual stuff, but that’s what Christmas is for!

Jenna! I love a great Christmas story and this one is so, so great.

I was hooked immediately at the lines "Roy was not a giggler" and "Seriously? Her coworkers are terrible people." The subtle humor you inject into these stories always hits just right.

Anna is a delight right off of the bat and who can't relate to kissing a boy being gross unless it's JTT?

This future with Jim? I mean, yes, yes he's dreamy but it's Philip that's my favorite and his complete disdain of jello shenanigans.

And then there's the Roy-future, and Anna winning me over again with "way to peak in high school"

Gee. However will Pam choose?!

"he has feelings for Jim. And he’s maybe a little in love with her?" How did you do it? You summed up the entire first two seasons in 2 simple sentences? And I love it so, so much.

It's a date! And my cold grinch heart grew two more sizes.

So uh yeah. I'm going to need your other Christmas story as well. I don't even care if I have to wait until March.

Author's Response: Thanks Coley. It’s truly really nice to know that someone else thinks I’m funny (other than me).

I very much appreciate you referencing the grinch in a relation to my Christmas fic too.
March may be optimistic, but I appreciate the enthusiasm... We shall see...

This story is unbelievably sweet and gentle (despite the fact of how it all started). I love the interactions between the older and the younger generations of the Halperts. It's so natural and cute! And the life with Roy... I genuinely feel sorry for them both. Perhaps, there is a woman for Roy, who makes him happy and be happy herself, but it definitely not Pam. Glad, she made the right choice. Yay!
Also, I feel a little bit sad for poor Anna... but, maybe, she had happiness in her life and after...
And I would be delighted to read more Christmas stories from you!

Author's Response: Thanks Dernhelm! I worried using the kids would take away from the story a little bit, so I’m glad that worked. Oh Roy, we all love to hate him, but I feel for him (a little). I think perhaps there is a good fit for Roy out there somewhere too... Hopefully things work out okay with that wife of his down the track. I may never finish that other Christmas story - we’ll see...

So lovely and fun. And yes! Another Christmas fic would be awesome!

Author's Response: Thanks Merria! It’s nice to know there’s people willing to read Christmas fic well after Christmas - me too!

This was wonderful! I really liked the new take on the whole Ghost of Christmas Future thing. Just like in "A Christmas Carol" it's really the preview of what's to come that causes a lot of the change in our main character. The difference between both of Pam's future's was very telling. The future with Roy, dull and the same. The future with Jim warm and loving. Yeah, not a hard choice.

I also really loved that it was Jim who was right there at her side while she was unresponsive on the floor. Good job Jim. That she doesn't reject the teapot for the iPod and thus gets the card, which leads to her right choice was just all sorts of sweet. Great job.

And January is a fine time for more Christmas stories. Any time is a fine time for more Christmas stories.

Author's Response: Thanks Warrior! Wishing you all the best for the new year. We’ll see about that other Christmas story... it make take me until December to finish it after all...
