I'm a sucker for a good Stamford-era fix it fic - feels like a moment when they could have fixed things with a lot less drama - and this is a solid concept for it. It makes perfect sense that Michael would've taken Jim's reveal during the convention and taken it upon himself to fix it and get his best friend back, and that the way he chose to do so would've been about as subtle as a brick to the head. Your character voices sound very accurate, in particular Pam's mix of resentment and longing and loneliness. (And I love the idea of Michael needing to be restrained from contacting Oscar about his scam resistance - very funny and very Office.)

Why do you keep doing s3 fix it fics? Because they're awesome. That is a great setup and I want more. Especially Dwight telling on Pam accidentally while Michael is doing it intentionally.

There couldn't be enough 'fix-the-season-three-mess' stories, and this is going to be sooo good!
I like that even in the distance, Pam and Jim are in sync; Jim's glances at the unpleasant receptionist and Pam's count of occasions she allows herself to look at Jim's desk... it's so touching. As well as the whole aura of longing and hopelessness and despair. And it feels even more acutely when something rather comical happens - like Jim's exchange with Dwight (it was brilliant, btw). It feels like everything has to be okay, just like before, but it doesn't.
Oh, and Michael's thoughts about karaoke and his neighbor - it's so funny and so Michael!
Can't wait to see what happens next!

This looks all sorts of interesting. Once again you've got morose Jim in Stamford down very well. He's still broken up not only about the conversation at the convention, but of course about Pam. Having his old habits of looking up at reception die hard was a great way to help show that.
Same goes for Pam. While it's a fun image to have her drawing that sketch of Dwight, it also feels like she's a bit lost. They're both hurting, clearly. Thus it seems like they've let their hurt and thus their fear take hold.
So enter Micheal. In his own weird way here he sees that. He feels very in character here. Not quite a good serious Michael moment in this chapter, but not to far off one of those either. Looking forward to seeing how you take this one.

As to Michael, I haven’t quite decided just how aware he is of what he’s doing here. That may impact on whether or not we get a good serious Michael moment.
