I’ve been catching up with this in the last few days. Really enjoying it and I like the way you’ve written Roy so there’s pathos there and we can see why he’s behaving the way he is. I’m glad Pam and Jim are finally together. Looking forward to the next chapter!

So sweet, Pam helping nudge shy-boy further. And she has moxie telling Roy to knock it off. Feel someone is going to pay for that though…. Nail biting I till he next chapter.

Wow…. Excellent… I can see my dads oil stained and craggily mechanics fingers, can smell them even when he scrubbed with lava soap… that was trippy.
And..we all knew something was up with Roy..can’t wait to see how that plays out!

Realized I hadn’t reviewed before now.. I got so excited to keep reading, same red flags have been going up in this old therapists head too… what is up with the locket and the love bombing in the dates..?!

So I'm going to get this part out of the way first. Roy is 100% a creepy stalker who is only concerned about himself. He only sees people for their usefulness to him and that's it. He may think he's in the right, but he's believed his own lies for long enough I doubt he would know what's true or not anymore. Pam telling him clear as day to knock it off should have been the hint for him. His thoughts about getting rid of Jim just prove that.

Okay, now onto the good stuff. I am in love with how Jim and Pam are now that they're together. They're making a life together and it's wonderful. That they have the approval of friends and family just further cements it. Hopefully it's not just the calm before the storm. And as always Singer is the bestest boy ever.

Oooooof. Roy taking a hard turn into full stalker mode. We always knew you could do it, buddy. You've done a good job here filling out his backstory to show us how he got here, and exploring how Roy can think of himself as the hero in spite of, you know, all of this.

The image of Jim with band-aids on his over-scrubbed fingers is great. As is Mark handing Pam a pan to throw at him mid-fight.

EEEP. THE KISS AT THE END. It better darn well not be a year before the next update...

I hadn’t read this one, so I’m really glad you updated and it popped up. Really enjoyed binging the whole thing today. I haven’t read the book so can’t wait to see what happens next!!

If the next update is in a year, you're going to have Singer to answer to, and that dog doesn't play.

I'm so so happy to see this come back! And with so much adorable Jam fluff!! I still am so curious about Roy and about what that good doggo Singer knows. There's a twist going to happen, I can feel it.

I want to date guitar-playing, dirty-handed Jim, please. (And someone should let him know the US version is better) He's so good and so lovable.

Now go write more of him.

ASDFGHJKL I loved this, Aly!!

Ugh, poor Roy! What a rough childhood to have to go through!

Please don't take forever to update us on this again!!

Okay I promise I’ll talk about the rest of the chapter too, but YOU HAD THEM WATCH THE UK OFFICE. I loved that so much.

Ugh. Roy is such a mixed bag. I feel so bad for him and also need him to get away from Pam, pronto.

With all the characters, you covered their range of emotions so well (surprise, surprise). I especially appreciated Pam’s feelings changing, or at least lessening, over the grief she feels about Mark’s death. It reads very naturally, and also means she and Jim can legitimately date now!

Really getting bad stalkerish vibes from Roy now. Clearly he's a product of his past. He's let all that childhood trauma define him rather than trying to leave it behind. So now in his attempt to not be his father he's got the hero-concept about him. It really comes across that he doesn't think Pam knows what she wants so he's going to show her what she needs. He's taking away any and all of her own agency to make her own choices. While I sympathize with him for his past, that doesn't justify his present actions.

Nice to see Pam looking to get some perspective on how things are going. It's one thing to be caught up in a rush of emotions. It's another thing to have your friends validate your feelings. The trip to Mark's grave seems to cement that in her. She still has all the happy memories of her time with Mark and now after thinking it over it feels like she gets some closure on that part of her life so she can start a new chapter with Jim.

Speaking of Jim. It's so cute to see how over the moon he is to be with Pam. Really get the sense that his dreams are coming true being with her. The trip to Brooklyn seemed like a lot of fun. Then coming home and watching the UK Office? *chef's kiss* Then of course their first kiss. Just delightful.

Clearly there's something brewing with Roy though. Hopefully between Singer and Jim, Pam has a few layers of protection.

Wonderful to see this one back as well.

I don't know how I am just reading this now. Such an intense plot, it has me completely engrossed. You describe the settings, characters and emotions so beautifully I can envision it all. Roy really ratchets up the intrigue and suspense, he seems like a devious, disturbed and dangerous guy. Love how Pam had to take the bull by the horns and ask Jim out, clueless Jim is an adorable Jim. Also love that there were nerves and some awkwardness on their date, that is more realistic than declarations of love from the start.

Pam has also been a tad clueless. Roy has been over-the-top from the beginning, the mailbox note, showing up at her work constantly, the gift, limo, all of the red flags flapping in the wind. I hope there is more soon!!

Oblivious Jim is so cute. I loved their date and I loved that Pam didn’t immediately get all gushy and romantic and that they discussed Mark. I think that was super realistic and really well written. And friggin ROY you write him so well! Obviously there’s something going on there but clearly he is a great manipulator when things don’t go his way. Good for Singer, I wish he’d bitten Roy’s entire hand off.

Also, I truly love Jim as a mechanic. I can see it so clearly. And him taking of his coveralls? GIRL.

I was so nervous I was going to get to the end here and Jim had been waiting outside to surprise her with breakfast then see Roy stumbling out. So thank you for not hurting me haha.

This was an amazing update. You do a wonderful job of clearly describing every event that I feel as if I'm watching a movie.

I don't remember where this is entirely set. I know you mentioned them going to Brooklyn, but I honestly have this playing in my mind like a Nicholas Sparks movie. Like they're in Georgia and there's the Spanish Moss trees everywhere.

Anyway, beautifully written as always! I'm glad Roy is out of the picture for the most part.

I thought it was adorable when Jim stumbled over his words and his thoughts of Pam having flaws but still being the most beautiful woman he'd seen. My heart can't contain it all! So perfect!

A couple of things I really liked about this:

You diving directly into the date... felt for a second like Jim's concern could have led to a fight, and I was glad to see Pam recognize it for what it was.

Your continued interpretation of Jim as Not The Best At Everything and in particular not the smoothest guy in the world out on a date with Pam for the first time. It's just a version of Jim we don't see very often, and it's fun to see you play it out. I love him totally botching his precanned line.

Singer biting Roy.

And the way you've developed Roy here... yes, it feels knowing the genre like he's bad news, and we've certainly got some signs in the story that he's bad news, but you've made it very clear why *Pam* wouldn't necessarily think he's someone she should avoid like the plague. There are red flags, but you've also given us context for how they might be ignored. (Plus you've let Pam see them at least as pink flags... she's noticing some of his less savory aspects and they are definitely bothering her.)

Anyhow. Looking forward to seeing where you go next with it.

Wow! Lots going on here. First of all I think it's great that Danny had that heart-to-heart with Jim. Just the kind of brotherly kick in the ass Jim needed. Paid off too.

Their drinks at Creed's was so lovely. They're finally really talking and low and behold rather than things unravelling they're still them. You did have me going there when Pam said that Jim was a nice guy. However when she reused the line as a way to show her interest in him was brilliant. As was Jim being about as dense as a rock. Wonderfully cute there.

Their first date was a treat as well. Nothing big and flashy, just simple and sweet. Adorkable Jim was great. I get why he's nervous. It's been a big thing in his mind and now it's really happening. Hopefully he relaxes a bit as we go on.

Roy showing up like that though. Whoo boy. Yeah a roller coaster of emotions on his part. Anger, jeaoulsy, more anger, and then yeah he's being vulnerable but doing so in the worst way. After all that he goes for the sympathy card? I mean yeah it sucks for him, but still, low blow.

Pam, you're to nice for your own good sometimes. Bestest Boy Ever award keeps going to Singer. Seriously, I love that dog. He's the best part of this fic. All the good boy treats to Singer.

Only halfway done? Sounds like the twists and turns aren't over yet. I still don't like Roy and don't think he'll really take this lying down. Also hope to see Jim and Pam bloom some more. Great update.

AHHHH I loved their date and awkward Jim and that she understands she wants to be with him!! All the feels.

But ugh, Roy. I just know something is going to happen with him and it gives me anxiety but I am here for it!! Hahaha I loved this chapter!!

Okay first of all, I laughed out loud at your description of Creed's bar. INFLATABLE DATES LOLLL.
Oh, sweet, thoughtful, awkward Jim. I loved reading about their date. The way they both think of Mark feels very real, and I appreciated that aspect of their time together.
I have a feeling that things with Roy won't be patched up that smoothly. I worry a bit for Pam, and I don't think I'm alone in that. (Looking at you, Mechanic Jim.) You have me hooked, my friend!

I'm super happy you got more Jim and Pam time here too! I'm glad to see their dynamic and their appeal to each other being developed a little more. And I appreciated that it's mainly just them having a fun, normal night with real conversation about real things. You can see them working in real life, as opposed to just on dates.

You worked some good comic moments into this one - obviously Singer giving Pam the silent treatment was great, but the slapstick with Jim finding out Pam needed him, his awkward moment with soaking wet Pam (and hye, now you can use the Wet Jim/Pam tag!) and Singer trying to be his assistant. Plus, you worked some of them Noticing each other in between. There were some really funny visuals here.

A *very* interestingĀ development with Roy's backstory. He may have hoped he wasn't his father's son, but I suspect his controlling nature and hatred of weakness are things he shares with him, and maybe he's aware of it.

Ooooh, finally some Roy backstory. That’s not at all what I expected his motivation to be... It garners some sympathy, but at the same time, he’s still giving off a super weird/creepy vibe so I can’t feel all that sorry for him...

“I won’t stop thinking of you.” There’s that creepy vibe again.

“It was gradual, like a sunrise, growing warmer and brighter as the minutes passed, and the next thing he knew it was morning and everything felt brand new.” This line is absolute perfection. I love it so much.

Big yes to those thoughts about starting to see Jim in more of a relationship sort of light!
