Here are just a few ways you broke my heart:

“The tears that have been stinging her eyes for the past hour finally start their slow escape down her cheeks. She wipes at her eyes with the sleeve of her cardigan before choking out, “Me too.”” I want to hug Pam.

“Yeah. I know. You couldn’t spare another second of your life with me to just tell me that you’re okay.”
“Did you ever stop to think that maybe I’m still not okay?” (I AM NOT OKAY, ALY)

“...one-fifteen in the morning other than to tell me about Michael and complain about your day. I’m sorry, Pam, but that’s not my job anymore.” My heart.

But then you mended my heart in such a great way and I absolutely loved all the flashbacks, especially the ones you created. They were perfect and adorable and really brought home how connected they were and I’m just so grateful these two idiots finally figured it out.

I loved this! Give me all the angst. And then make me whole again. Hahaha great job!!

Slow burn of a one-shot here. But achingly beautiful through everything. That it was the bird funeral that got Pam to pull out her Jim box seemed really appropriate. Just the kind of silly fun she would have with Jim. It's no wonder she misses him so much.

Then getting home. In Vino Veritas to the fullest extent. Their phone conversation is everything it should have been. Raw, unfiltered, desperate, longing, but peaking behind all the rough edges, their love for each other.

Now it's time for Jim's tortured thought process. I really liked how he didn't just jump in the car and go. There was still doubt, fear, and hesitation. Makes complete sense.

Their reunion was just more of the same. However now that the big hurdles are over they can finally say through word and deed what they truly feel. It's lovely. Same with all the canon and extra-canon references. All those really fleshed everything out. Like the painting Pam gave to Jim. The extra times at the reception desk talking about favorite candy. Lovely.

Yes, angsty to start, but the reward at the end more than makes up for it.

I just...I need a minute. This was amazing. Actually, truly amazing. You captured them both so well. Their actions, their voices, their feeling are so. Spot. On.

I have so many favorite quotes, but this one is my favorite:

It’s quiet again, but it’s an almost comfortable silence. Like rain pattering on your window, thunder and lightning looming in the distance. It’s not close enough to be a threat, to cause any real damage, but you keep an eye on it. Appreciate the rain, watch out for the storms.

Please never stop writing angst.

It's always so lovely reading a version of this story where they're *both* willing to take decisive action and emotional risks to get to their happy ending - I really appreciate you making that choice.

"I love you and I hope you love me too but, really, I know how this is going to end" is a terrific description of Jim's looking at Pam face in the first two seasons.

I loved the parallels you wrote for them in this one-shot. The collections of mementoes that they're both going through are great - I loved the details you invented with the lobster-claw oven mitt, which is definitely the sort of joke gift she would've gotten him. And the idea that she spent the post-basketball weekend painting something for him is adorable. You did a really good job in general showing the way their minds both work and how it indicates how right they are for each other.

Hmmm. Exit 17 sighting. I see you.
