I —
Bored, this was so damn beautiful & I was too wrapped up in it all to form a coherent review. All the lines were my favorite lines & that’s about as much as I can narrow it down.

Author's Response: Thanks, lady! I appreciate *any* review, especially from you!

Wow. I mean, this is just gorgeously written.

SO many great choices here.

I love the buildup and description of Pam and Jim’s tandem discomfort, especially in contrast with Karen slipping into this world as a second skin. And the description of Karen making sex “feel vaguely like a carnival ride” does tremendous work – you can picture exactly what it is about this that’s making Jim feel uncomfortable.

Given that this is not a particularly flattering take on Karen, I appreciate you including a brief note on WHY Jim is in this relationship with his sense that he could benefit from someone like Karen not allowing him to be complacent, and the parallels of Pam needing someone like Penny in her life.

The line about him seeing Pam as “a mirage, a vision of everything he was never meant to have” and trying to memorize the details before the mirage disappears is so accurate for S3 Jim – this was definitely something that was in his head during Phyllis’ Wedding.

Your crafting of this moment of sad acceptance that this thing between them is over and they missed their moment is just heart-breaking and lovely.

“The clock ticked down and with each second left behind in the previous year, she felt closer to the truth that she would survive this; that the last words she spoke to him were less of a lie and more of a promise.” That whole sequence between them accepting the end and Jim finding her again is spell-bindingly written and just really emotionally true to the feeling of a sad New Year’s Eve. And then them coming back together? Damn.

I love the detail of Jim’s relief at housekeeping having come. It lets us feel some of the discombobulating wonder Jim is feeling, and also grounds this piece a little. It’s also a good reminder for the reader that just like in canon, someone else’s heart is getting a little messed up along the way.

Anyhow. This was lovely. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Author's Response: I really, really appreciate insightful reviews like this, thank you! Often I think I commit entirely too much mental energy to putting little nuanced details that no one will even notice so it is rewarding to have someone pick up on them. Thank you so much!

I... wow... it's just... wow...
I'm a little overwhelmed at this moment, so I can't quite form an appropriate review. I hope you'll understand.
"I don't know but it feels right."
This line is so tiny and simple, but it hit me with the force of a heavily loaded truck. I love these moments so much!
And I don't know how you are doing that, but please, don't stop. And thank you!

Author's Response: I always understand and I always enjoy your emotional reviews! They bring me so much joy. Thank you SO much!

Stunning. The way you write is just so beautiful and this Cinderella New Year's Eve was the perfect way to get them together.

Poor Karen keeps getting ditched in NYC but as you so eloquently put, he was never hers, always Pam's and as the new year begins always will be.

Thanks for creating yet anothing pice of art that brought them back to where they belonged.

Bravo.

Author's Response: Thank you, Max, SO very much! I'm so glad you enjoyed this. :)

You had me going there for a minute. Pam seriously thinking of going to Chicago is absolutly a shot to the heart. Then there's Karen. Full speed ahead with her plans, her future, her ideas of what that will be and how Jim will be there with her. Seems like she doesn't even really see him. Perfect analogy there at the start for Karen. Jim is just a ride, something to enjoy as she gets what she wants. But clearly she doesn't know him.

The image of Pam in that dress walking through the crowd to Jim just watching her agog is so SO wonderful. That right there seems to jumpstart his heart, one that had long been lifeless since a fateful night the previous May. Now the heart is beating again and it sends dearly needed life to his mind. The fog lifts and there she is, waiting for him.

As the new year dawns they're finally together. I love that so much. New year, new life, and they're together. Kisses and talking on the love seat starting to mend the scars of the previous months. This was just beautiful. Bravo!

Author's Response: Thank you SO much, Warrior! I'm thrilled that you enjoyed this. :)

This was a perfect new years story. A big party, high hopes, a touch of angst, and romance. The kiss! The champagne! The hoodie! Thank you for this.

Author's Response: Aww, thank YOU, Sprinkles! I'm thrilled you enjoyed it. :)

I really thought you were going to break me with “I’m moving to Chicago. We’ll always be friends.” Instead you broke me with “No you don’t. You can’t even imagine.”

“…when she closed her eyes she saw the homeland of him in the iridescent sage behind her eyelids.”
“…the bold new her wondering who was trembling now.”
“…the bokeh of the distant lights flickering like starlight beyond her shape.”

Excuse you!

AND - the University of Scranton hoodie - I see you!!

Author's Response:

Oh Ava, you have seriously pulled out some of my absolute favorite parts and I love it. As for the hoodie...*ahem* well, you know where that idea came from and who is to blame. ;)

A thousand thank you's for your review!

Bored, this was absolutely beautiful! Once again you have me in awe with what you’re capable of doing with the English language.

“No you don’t. You can’t even imagine.” Kill. Me. Dead. There were so many other amazing lines in this, so just imagine I copied and pasted the whole thing here.

I love bold Pam.
I love the sweatshirt over the dress.
I love them looking out over New York and her with her head in his lap.

I seriously loved it all. Another job very, very well done.

Author's Response: Thank you WW so much! I was hoping that the premise of this wouldn't be awful and cliché so I am thrilled you enjoyed it. Thanks!

bored, this killed me in the absolute best way possible. I loveee the idea of Fancy New Beesly crashing a corporate party in order to win Jim back. Karen's response was perfect as well, trying to figure out what Pam is doing and keeping Jim moving forward. And then their little "we'll always be friends" talk really just ripped my heart out. I am SO glad that he found her and they told each other to stay. And then Pam packing a bag without booking a room, ughhh. Amazing. I'm sure to read this at least ten more times in the next month.

Author's Response: Aww, thank you Aly, so so much. I was hoping the entire thing wouldn't come off as being terribly cliché, so I'm thankful you enjoyed it so much! Thanks!

“No you don’t. You can’t even imagine.”

Sorry that was just my SOUL SHATTERING.

Author's Response: Well, that was the reaction I was hoping for. ;)

I really truly don’t have the words for this.

Every word of this was perfection. The imagery of her dress and a Cinderella moment and the confrontation in the bathroom and them both moving and I really thought that was it and then it wasn’t, and that kiss and then how they talked all night and kill me with that Han Solo and Leia energy at the end my godddd

Everything you write is always poetry, always flawless and emotional and evokes such a wide range of feelings that has me in awe at the end of every piece. This is no exception. Beautiful job, friend! Thank you for sharing it with us!

Author's Response: Oh BT, your reviews always feel like a work of art in and of themselves. I love that enjoyed this so much and thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your encouraging words.
