You did two things here you don't see that often in Jam fic, both of which I liked. Jim looking for his fatal flaw is something that feels very real that doesn't seem to happen that much... realistically the thought that the problem is with HIM must have crossed his mind. And I think of lot of writers portray his relationship with Katy as deeply sporadic... but she *was* hinting at trying to marry him in this episode, so I think there's support for what you've explored here, where that relationship is deeper than he let on, and maybe one he's actually put some effort into. Strong choice!

Good look into Jim's mindset at this point in his life. Even with Micheal's "never give up moment," it would still make sense he's got a lot of conflicted feelings going on. The feeling here is that he was trying to be be a good boyfriend for Katy, but in the end that relationship was nothing more than a distraction and he was sadly using her to try and get his mind off Pam. Despite Katy being otherwise great, she's just not Pam. So yeah, his break up with Katy is harsh and a jerk move of him. It fits where he is in his life, but it's still not the best.

Nice work gettin into his head here.
