Michael’s un-firing Devon scene was funny! Michael was spot on in character.
I was a ball of nerves along with Jim as Pam open the gift and read the letter. Her reaction is exactly what I would have imagined.
Roy. What’s an ape. Good thing that is over.
I think all the characters’ characterizations are spot on.
Aww perfection.

Author's Response: Ah thank you so much! I really like writing all the different characters here, so glad you liked them!

Very lovely. Nice Roy/Pam breakup in particular.

Author's Response: Thank you so much! Means a huge deal to me coming from you!!! (slightly fan girling over here, not gonna lie)

So this was all sorts of sweet. Starting out with Michael standing up to Jan and not firing Devon. A bit of rare courage aimed at the right place, though not without consequences. I can very easily see Jan not taking Michael's outburst laying down and really hounding him on the budget like that. However, it does have the effect of reining him in.

Which leads us to being set up for a much different Secret Santa. I think that was a very good representation of what would have happened had Pam read the card there while sitting in the circle. A huge shock to her system that would have triggered a whole host of conflicting emotions. Very easy to see that she would run away to try and gain some space. But just like on Casino Night now that Jim's feelings are out in the open, she has to figure out what that means for her and her relationships.

The conversation with Roy felt real too. How she asks him if he really knows anything about her and he comes up lacking big time. Clearly Roy is only putting in the bare minimum and it's nowhere near enough for her. I'm sure it would have been a huge hit to her heart to see the guy she's been with for so long not be able to figure out anything about her. So, she does the smart decision and breaks it off. And the of course she needs time again.

Fate though is tricky. I think it's also a sign of how much they're meant for each other that they both have the same thought of where to go to clear their heads. Which leads into another heart to heart conversation. This one being a lot more fulfilling for both of them. Pam is able to tell Jim just how much all his support means to her, and Jim finally knows his feelings for her are being returned.

Great job looking into this scenario. You brought a lot of realism and heart to it and made it really sweet too.

Author's Response:

Ah thank you so much! I get really nervous writing canon fics to try and make sure they seem realistic, so I'm glad that came across!

I had a lot of fun with this one, and so happy that it's finally out of my head. Glad you enjoyed it and thank you as ever for your wonderful review!

I enjoy a story with a good trickle down effect. You set that up well here. Michael doesn't fire Devon, no bonus, can't buy ipod, needs to accept Phyllis' homemade gift., no Yankee Swap, Pam gets teapot with note.
I also enjoy when Pam figures things out a little sooner and can act on what she's figured out.
Oh and your Kelly was a lot of fun.

Author's Response:

Thank you so much! Yeah I basically started backwards with this one, what would have caused Pam not to trade the teapot, and then when I realised the iPod was only there because of Michael's bonus, well, the rest then fell into place!

Glad you liked this, and thanks for the review!

This was so good! I thought it brought up some really interesting points! Although we aren’t privy to the behind the scenes Roy, it’s very telling that Jim has saved these mementos from his relationship with Pam.. and when presented this way, it’s almost surprising that Pam didn’t see the difference before as early as the teapot. Very nice! Only critique is that I think Jim is wrong, clearly his portrayer JK is excellent at growing a beard!!😂 Excellent work as always! Looking forward to next Hello Daddy!

Author's Response:

Yes! That's partly why I wanted to write this. It still confuses me how Pam received THAT gift, and didn't see it as anymore more than a friendship, especially coupled with Roy who didn't care what he got her.

The beard thing made me giggle when I wrote it. I'm sure he could definitely play Santa these days. Hello Santa ;)

Thanks so much for the review!

Personally I think your fics are the best kind of gifts… but what do I know?

Author's Response: Oh you
