Her arms wrap around his neck, playing with the tips of his hair.

“Mhmm,” she sighs and buries her head deeper into his chest as he runs his calloused fingers through her hair. He grins at his own inside joke. Silence was a rarity between them.

He regretfully pulls away and checks his wristwatch. “Lunch ends soon, baby.”

She moans and hugs him again. “One last kiss until tonight?”

As his response, he gently puts his hand on the small of her back and brings her towards him. He tilts his head in and bends down to reach her. The kiss starts slow, but she deepens it eagerly.

They retreat with remorse, but look forward to that night.

She starts to walk away, but instead comes back to him, pulling him down and whispering in his ear, “And Darryl?”

“Yes?”

She feels no guilt as she murmurs coolly in his ear.

“Don’t mention this to Ryan.”
