I like how you incorporated Toby into the day's events, both the ones we saw and the ones you created -- very much in character, and it's nice to see Pam have someone to lean on.  When I first saw Pam/Toby in the description for this set, I didn't want to read it, but I'm glad I came back.

Author's Response: I'm glad you came back too!  In all honesty, this story started as one drabble that was more Pam/Toby than anything else, but I couldn't view them as more than just friends...he's the perfect person for her to lean on. :)

One day we'll look back on this & laugh, indeed.   I think we need to handcuff those two together until they have this freaking conversation and then... just leave them cuffed together -- hee!

Yay!  You've struck a lovely balance between cautious, angsty Pam and FNB here -- this sums it up for me: In a way, she needed to remind him of all the things he had loved about her.

And there are two words that should never go together -- sexy and falsetto.  But there they are now, thanks to this show.  Scary.

This is AWESOME, xoxoxo!  Such a keen eye you have, noticing Jim's sirt color and the possible significance.  Love this line: "....he wonders briefly if trying to move on won't eventually blow up in his face too"

Twas not me with the keen eye - twas nomadshan.  I simply verified it using highly scientific data (read: pouring over many pics of Jim Halpert - such a tough job.)

Perfect movie for them to see ~~ and I like cautious but available Jim.  Nice characterization.  And now I am dying for the next chapter ~~ never happy, I know.  I hope you take it as a compliment  :o)

Everything depends on everything. This chapter is just brilliantly simple on it's own -- but don't let me talk you out of writing more if you are so moved.  And I like how you wrote Pam taking a bit of initiative, but still having doubts.  It's a nice balance between what we want to see and the Pam we have been seeing for a while.

I love how you draw the comparison between Pam's situation (engaged to Roy) and Jim's situation now (with Karen), but you did it in a much more thoughtful way.  "I know what it feels like to be knee deep into a relationship with someone you only sort of half want to be with".  And the reappearance of "What are you doing?" is just ingenious.

BTW -- this story drives a stake into the heart of the Parking Lot of Doom!  Hee!

And yes, this is how it's supposed to be.  Sorry to see this story come to an end, but what an end it is  :o)

Oh sweet holy Jesus.  I was joking about French Hens being about kissing, but Wow.

I really like the detail about Jim still being a bit unsure about jumping into something with Pam, not fully trusting that Pam really loves him -- that idea hasn't been explored much before.

And Pam & Jim in Paris?  Just. Wow. 

Oh, sweet holy Jesus, I didn't think this chapter would end with an even bigger cliffhanger than the last one -- you are killing me here, xoxoxo!  I really hope you are taking some time off from paid work to work on the Calling Birds.

And Angry!Jim voice on Pam's answering machine is soooo hot!

I know you warned us this one was a downer, but somehow I really didn't take it that way.  It was actually a relief to have Roy & Jim talk, even though it just made Jim more confused, it seems like a step forward somehow.  And I really like the callback to "Basketball" and I think that the dialog (both spoken & unspoken) are very in-character, BTW.

Thanks lisahoo.   I'm happy to hear it.  It's just that last chapter was so light at the end - and I felt like this one was pretty bleak throughout.

I don't have any real hope we'll see Jim and Roy have a heart to heart - but hey - any excuse to imagine the two of them running around the court in shorts works for me.
