Super late to this party...

I’ve loved The Office for a few years now & have dabbled in fic for other fandoms. Deep in another rewatch, I thought there’s got to be some amazing fic out there for arguably one of the greatest shows of all time & here I am - potentially attempting to devour the MTT archive in its entirety?

If I manage to stop reading for long enough, I may attempt to add a few ideas of my own. Time will tell.

Edit May 19: Understandably, I've fallen head over heels with this archive and all that it offers. I've started a Fic Rec Friday thread on Twitter, where I enthuse about the many stories that have brought me joy. So, I'm just putting it out there if you'd like to stop by and have a look. I'm also super open if you have any suggestions that you think should be added/are must reads...

Okay. Okay, okay. I am a mess! This was wonderful! I preface this by saying I am not generally a huge fan of AUs, particularly college/teen angst, but I LOVED this. Like, to the extent that this epilogue just had tears rolling down my face. This version of Pam and Jim were just all kinds of adorable. You used the supporting cast SO well - especially Andy, which feels weird to say because Andy is so... Andy. Your Andy here was great. As was your Kelly, Dwight and the rest of them... Although, can we talk about that little cameo from Erin & Pete at the end? That was brilliant.
This story gave me hope for every incomplete WIP I’ve ever fallen in love with. I think it’s incredible that you came back to finish it after so much time had passed. Despite the gap between updates, the story was absolutely seamless.
Thank you for writing! I’m excited to work my way through the rest of your work when I have a moment.

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I truly cherish this story. I missed it so much while I was away during that gap, but life has a way of getting in the way of fun things like writing every so often. I was so glad to have the opportunity to come back and finish it, and so so SO glad that people are reading and enjoying it even now! Your words mean so much and I so appreciate you reading and reviewing. Thank you thank you thank you!

I love this! Pam and Jim as high school sweethearts is everything I didn’t know I needed. Their time in high school, that you’ve revealed already is adorable. I love the way you used the expired yoghurt as the beginning of their romance - just perfect repurposing of a canon moment.
Mark in this chapter was a whole lot of fun. I really do hope there is more high school Jam to come soon!

Summary: Pam said she wanted to take things slow. So this is how it all goes down (in some cases, quite literally). The aforementioned, multi-chapter, essentially plotless smut-fest that I've been promising. Essentially smut for smut's sake, since we really saw next to nothing on air. Enjoy ;)

Oh. My. God.
Agian. AGIAN. Girl.
How did you write the sweetest smut of all time?! Just when I think this fic has everything, you bring in the next thing. I was not expecting the next thing to be the proposal. I just —

Why do I love this image of Katy so damn much?! It’s perfect, truly. I can see it so clearly and the way that Jim would flip out and lose his whole mind.

Side note: do you/all of the US I guess really call hair ties “ponytail holders”? I got waaaay too caught up on that detail.

Pam teasing him & bringing it down his back?! I lost it. This story is so hot and yet this chapter is so hilarious without losing the steam. It’s truly a work of art.

See, the thing is, you don’t need to post links to products to give us a visual because your brilliant, vivid writing paints the picture. I am in awe.

I think this is my favorite chapter so far... The journey Pam travelled, leading her to Jim. Pam’s kindness towards Dwight. Pam and Jim just generally being adorable and in love.
I hope with Dwight’s analysis of the encounters they’re able to figure some things out - like how to take down the demons/silencers. I’m a sucker for a happy ending & I’m a little worried that’s not where this is ultimately headed...

I love, love, love Dwight and Pam’s friendship and this is no exception. I think you’ve built it beautifully to both mirror canon and fit uniquely in this universe. It’s also fun to see Dwight and Jim’s dynamic in this world. It adds a little levity to the situation.
The proposal was very sweet too. It’s nice to see it bringing a little comfort for all those conflicting feelings about the future.
Of course Dwight has a bunker...
It was great to see an update, I anxiously await the next one!

Ahhhh. I can’t believe I’ve reached the end (of what’s currently posted). It’s like when you binge a great show that’s on Season 4 & you finally catch up & have to wait a week for each new episode. I’m glad to hear you’re working on the next chapter!
Poor, poor Angela. Poor Dwight. Bless Mose. He’s a sweetheart, always. It’s nice to see Angela open up to Jim here.
Pam and Jim have certainly gotten themselves into a wonderful, difficult predicament... I’m looking forward to seeing where you go with it!

Pam and Jim dressed like Pam and Jim was unexpected in this world, but I kind of loved it. A nice prelude to the more physical side of their relationship taking shape.
I’m feeling for Dwight & Angela... But somehow this chapter felt lighter, the little hints of humor/joking with each other adding to that familiar dynamic. I feel like they’re in their groove. I love the Jim has his disc-man, adding a very tangible soundtrack to moments of this story.

I am so here for Dwight, Angela, the cat and the goats! It seems fitting that Angela would call the creatures demons. Even without speech, Dwight is still so very Dwight. It’s great!

Okay, that “Troy the troll” line was comedy gold. I loved the Christmas present & the repurposing of the teapot card! I hope Pam gets to read it a little sooner than canon - I don’t think I can wait like seven seasons this time...

First of all. I didn’t watch the trailer. Whoops. I did watch that clip of the kids in the car & John signing “I love you” and then screaming, so I feel like I have the gist of it anyway...

So much of what makes up Pam & Jim’s chemistry is their banter. It’s interesting to see what remains when that’s minimized. There’s still some sort of a spark, that much is obvious. I’m intrigued to find out more of Pam’s backstory too.

Is Howard, Ryan? If so, I am not a fan in this universe...
My heart hurts a little for Larissa, & Jim. I suppose that’s the thing about an apocalypse, there aren’t many silver linings...
Onwards to the next chapter!

I loved the contrast between Pam & Jim’s dreams. I completely get the unconscious brain dreaming in both those ways when faced with a silent world. I found it a really interesting inclusion.
The unicorn necklace storyline was adorable. Jim has caught feelings! I loved his flicker of jealously. Smitten Jim is such a sweetheart.

Poor Roy... kind of... I did love his final words though. Trish sounds like a treasure. I like the idea of Roy having a sister with a few more redeemable qualities.
It’s a nice kind of tentative friendship that you’re building here between Pam and Jim. I’m too impatient to keep reading to leave thoughtful reviews...

Oh. My. God. Schrute Farms was a treasure I was not expecting to encounter in this story... I now have my fingers crossed for Dwight to feature...
I’d be remiss not to comment on the Pam/Jim situation and their confessions of love which gave me all sorts of feels!

No, it’s fine. Just break my heart and build it back up all in one story. I’m fine.

It took me a very long time to read this story, mostly because I tend to avoid Season 9 in the fic world because it just hurts too damn much. Plus, I’m all about the chase, & getting them together earlier than canon. But, this was well, well worth reading & I’m glad it’s the exception to my “I don’t really love established couple” fics rule.

This was all sorts of wonderful.

Author's Response: Yeah I’m going back and reading reviews on my own stories, what of it? I’m a review ho, I’ll gladly admit it! No but for real somehow I missed this review and wanted to make sure I told you THANK YOU! It is always such a high compliment to get a good review from you because you’re just so good. I feel honored that you’re glad you broke your rule for this one! Season 9 is a tricky one and bumps in the road for our favorites are hard, so I’m just so tickled to know you liked it so much. Thank you!!!

Summary:

When the secrets of one employee cost the others twelve hours of peril, locked in the office under a hostage situation, true colors begin to shine through.

Essentially taking the General Hospital Metro Court hostage crisis from 2007 and pretending it happened in The Office, so if you've seen it, some plot lines will probably give you nostalgia... :)

This was epic. Wow. I kind of loved all the Dwight/Angela more than I thought I would. I really enjoyed your characterization of Angela. Your version of everyone was pretty great. I especially liked your Meredith - I think she would respond basically like that in a hostage situation. This was a really fun read - in an angsty, please don’t kill of Pam way. Larissa as a surgeon intern was a great twist. Definitely added an extra element to everything taking place outside of Dunder Mifflin. I’ve seen this story come up a few times in the most recent list, and I’m really glad I finally took the time to sit down and read it!

Oh my god, BT. Way to take that Michael comment and run with it. I laughed so much at Pam explaining that particular interaction to Jim. I love that you made it even more embarrassing with the server. And then for good measure you threw in this particularly delightful line: “Ew. Don’t say his name in my bedroom.” and I laughed some more.
Then this got all kinds of smutty and sweet, and I just adore the way you write these two dorks. It’s so, so great.

Author's Response: Thank you so much, Jenna! This one is a fun one for sure, I love the early days of their relationship when there are still new ways to experience each other. Thanks for reading and reviewing!

I don’t know how you managed to pull the heat from the last chapter back into this sweetness, but you made it work, and you made it work SO damn well. I love this version of them so much.

Author's Response: Right? He’s totally a “send nudes” guy. He’d probably ask for them to be chiseled into stone had this been an Ancient Greek story, I bet. 🙄 Thank you so much! After the shower scene I was like “oh am I actually ready for them to get hot and heavy? I don’t actually think so...” so I felt like I had to write myself out of the (shower) corner I’d written myself into. So thank you for saying so! I hope you keep enjoying!

Damn, BT. Damn. That was vivid. My heart is in my throat. Pam was the perfect mix of frozen in fear and driven to action.

You really took casino night, turned it on its head like that & expected me to be okay. I am not okay.
Jim saying “I can’t” and passing out. Nope. No, no. Rip out my heart why don’t you?!

Phyllis is a hoot. So very Phyllis. How dare Pam commit the abominable sin of cutting her off when talking about Bob Vance.
Side note: my father has one leg that’s shorter than the other from dropping a fridge on it & the break not being set right, so I snorted at that line.

Okay, okay... in retrospect, I can forgive you for the casino night-esque “I can’t” when Jim’s first conscious thought is “I love you too.” I can live with that. They’re so damn adorable.

Ahhhh... I’m going to need an update as soon as is humanly possible. I have no clue who’s after them, but it definitely doesn’t sound like good news...

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I’m glad you got a kick out of the refrigerator line! I hated to tease with the “I can’t” but I’m glad that I made up for it. I hope to update again soon, so stay tuned!

Damn, BT, damn. First of all, bringing a little bit of Fancy New Beesly into this universe was incredible. But, the real standout here is the backstory for Josh - way to take something from canon and repurpose it in such a unique and yet completely believable way. Wow.
And on top of it all, Pam and Jim were just so delightfully soft and vulnerable with one another all throughout this chapter. I am feeling all the feelings.

Author's Response: Thank you so much, Jenna! I hope you keep enjoying it so much. It’s been fun to flesh out these canon details/characters a bit in this new setting. I have some big things planned, so stay tuned!
