Oh man, that's a really good Karen insight there, really humanizes her. Jim threatening to call the cops on her was the highlight of the chapter for me, got a good chuckle out of that. I'm really looking forward to how Pam deals with the situation, I image it's like going to be very bittersweet for her. The almost reveal and Karen's staunch denial of the real reason Jim left Scranton was tantalizing.

Looking forward to more!

Author's Response: Thanks, DoomGoose!

I love that they are getting into their old dynamic, but o can't help but think things are going to go sour soon. I am dreading and anticipating seeing things from Jim's side and how his frame of mind is. Looking forward to the next chapter for sure!

I really liked being able to get into everyone's head in this chapter. Sure it dispelled some of the mystery but knowing that delerious and cognizant Jim want Pam around is a balm to my jam heart. Karen learning of Pam's mediator superpower was a nice touch. I'm glad to hear you don't intend to leave us hanging on a cliffy for too long, looking forward to it!

Author's Response: Many thanks, DoomGoose! Much appreciated.

There was a lot of emotions in this one, but I'm glad they've got things mostly sorted out here! I'm even more glad that you've promised us one more chapter of this, I'm really looking forward to it!

Author's Response: Thank you! Chapter is written, but it's a mess which needs sorting. Hopefully up by the middle of the week (if I stop distracting myself by coming up with household tasks that absolutely need to be done NOW...)

I love the journey that you take Pam on here. The courage that it took her to open that car door and knock was admirable, and I'm so glad everything turned out well in the end, you are a writer after my own heart! Great job, looking forward to your next work!

Author's Response: I always debate whether I should get them together or not in stories like these but how could I not? Thanks for the review, I'm glad you liked it!!

I really liked your unique take on Roy, it's not often we get to see a softer side of him. The heartache throughout was really well done. I'm not a swiftie as I heard it called in chat the other night, but I can certainly appreciate the inspiration it seems to bring around here!

Author's Response: Thanks DG! We’ll make you a Swiftie yet ;)

I was worried my Roy here would be too hot of a take - we sure do love to make him the villain here. I’m glad he worked for you.

Jenna you should know by now that we're all down for Season 3 fixits. The hurt that Pam is feeling and the fleeting highs she gets by seeing a sliver of the old Jim are so painful to my Jam heart, but I know you'll fix them in due time so it's ok!

I think you capture Pam's loneliness and desperation very well here, and it's especially apparent when she's considering just up and taking a bus back home or someplace else entirely at the gas station. Ouchies the feels.

I really look forward to seeing more!

Author's Response:

Thanks DG! I promise I definitely will get to the fix. Although, I suppose this isn’t the most traditional of fix-its because I’m kind of making it so much worse before I make it better...

At the very least, Pam will be grateful that she didn’t hitch a ride to who knows where by the end of this...

So I read this the other night before I went to bed. This is great work, as always. I'm always a little wary of the stories with trigger warnings and such, but I'm glad to see there wasn't too much of the gory details here. I really like how strong this Pam is, getting herself out of a situation like that. I cannot wait to see her grow further as the story progresses.

Author's Response:

I understand your warriness when it comes to TW works. I myself can be triggered by some, so I get it. There won’t be too many gory details, I promise (I can’t handle that either)

Pam is SO strong. Smart too.

Thank you for your kind words!

You captured the raw emotion here really well, and I can totally see Pam not sticking around to let Jim get a word in edgewsie after the night she's had and the mistake that she realised she was about to make. Great work as always!

A lovely spinoff that leaves soany questions! What took Pam from "I can't" to "I can," did she drive home to tie up loose ends with Roy or something? We don't have to know but those are the kinds of things that hooke onto a story, too bad it's a oneshot!

Author's Response: I'm so sorry it's only a one shot, DG. Maybe one day I'll extend it ha.

I'm excited to see where you go with this. Season 9 is something thatedt a sour taste with me too, do a fixit is just what the doctor ordered! Overall this chapter covered a lot of ground and I think you did well. You covered a lot of different perspectives, which was pretty ambitious, but none of the transitions stood out from the others, so well done there.

Author's Response:

Much appreciated!  Yeah, I wanted to get a feel for how the story should go. A lot of it is canon (especially Dwight's story, he got the most from that season), but that one diverging decision (which you've already read by this point) will reshape how the series will work. It is ambitious, but it helps me get into the characters' heads.  I wanted to represent them well.

Apologies for the late reply, btw.  Life and quarantine, you know.

Thanks for the review!

Reviewer: DoomGoose Signed 1

"Oh, the difference six months will make." Well now that's just ominous. I can't tell if that's foreshadowing or retrospective, but some of the tags you tacked on this story have me leaning towards the former.

Overall I feel like it's pretty canon compliant right now, although the flashback Jim has the convinces him not to go all in was a nice touch, it really showed how conflicted he was with the decision. I'm glad Jim didn't go for it without talking to Pam again.

I'm looking forward to seeing where you go with this, hopefully nothing too scary or scarring, in all aboard for fluff so we'll see if I need to jump off the ride at some point in the future.

Again though, you set the tone really well and maintain a cohesive narrative even with all of the perspective changes, well done!

Author's Response:

Yeah, Pam was quite the risk-taker and far more assertive during Seasons 3-5, and a little during 6 ("Your mom came onto me." *SMACK!*), but it goes to show how quickly her perspective has changed after S6.  I've noticed this with her hair too; most of the time during 7-9 it's in a similar style as S1-3, before Fancy New Beesly.  I want to explore that and see if she eventually makes more difficult decisions

And, yeah, Jim taking that call... it annoyed me, even though I completely understand the motivation.  Both him and Pam made mistakes during that period, but it seemed like he didn't even consider what dropping everything and going for a new job did last time, bolstered by the fact he has so much more to lose.

And, knowing your writing, I understand your concern.  Don't worry, the Halperts will be more happy and fulfilled this time around.  There will be hurdles,  *big* ones, but at the very least they'll better communicate, despite their insecurities.

Thanks for the review!

I haven't reviewed this in a while and wow looking back over this the story has gone places! The jam payoff was totally worth it, I was smiling like a madman for most of their subplot this chapter. I liked the parallels to Casino night that you made for Dwight and Angela as well.
Really glad that Jim and Pam are back in sync though, that does wonders for my morale as a reader 😂

Keel up the great work!

Author's Response:

LOL Thanks DG!  Glad you hopped back in.

But yeah, as far as JAM goes, they're both in a much better place than they have been, and they'll be much happier for the rest of the story.

The Casino Night parallels came to me as I was watching it.  It's not as impactful as that moment, but for fans of all things Dwight (myself included) it's a tough watch emotionally.  There were several ways I wanted to go about it, but I settled on something I felt worked the best.

Thanks for the review!

That was a rollercoaster, I really thought you'd do it! I was morbidly curious if you were going to make Jim watch after Pam's outburst, but thank goodness you presented us with a balm instead. I felt like Pam's jumping to the conclusion that he was there to take the teapot back was a bit of a jump, but in the end it worked so it didn't detract from the rest of the story. This was really well done, thank you for sharing!

That was my intention (he'd make a really good Bottom, actually--there's a whole scene I didn't include where Bottom bosses around all the other actors and wants to play every part in the play, and that's just screaming Michael to me so I think he'd actually be good at it). Well done, there we a lot of laughs in this one for me.

Things that stood out to mere were Jim almost walking into a wall, and Pam with the all caps all the time texting, because that was just weirdly endearing.

Toby in with the paperwork and Mose not being a responsible adult was just icing on the cake.

Of course all good Jim impressions must involve tapping on Pam's desk.

I look forward to seeing how you spin the aftermath of this.

Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad you noticed all those little grace notes; they were fun to include, but it's way better when someone sees them...
