It was really interesting to get Pam's perspective on this one, her FOMO comes across quite well, especially with the Toby jab.

I liked the connection you made to no Jim eqauls no solitaire wins, kind of highlighting how integral Jim is to Pam's daily routine.

PS I hate mobile.

Author's Response: I assume the PS is why I got two notifications about this comment ;) Thanks for the review, and I'm glad you noticed the connection at the end!

I love the insight that a third party can give to Jim, Steve's take on Pam's feelings from the day of the prank is a great perspective.

Author's Response: Thank you! I'm having fun with letting Jim get a little different life because he knows Steve, including the perspective.

Ouch, Pam's thought process and avoidance of thinking about getting a date set for the wedding really struck a chord.

Roy not getting the prank is just another reminder that Pam and him are on different wavelengths, and one can't help but wonder when they'll open their eyes and see the destructive interference that causes (physics analogies!? I guess I'm just in that mood).

Author's Response: I like the analogies! I guess that makes actual S9 Jim a wave of light, capable of interfering with himself? Thanks for the review!

Jim and Pam syncing up with saving the prank by getting rid of the picture was really sweet.

Dwight's comments on fanfic were just right on point, that got a good chuckle.

Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad I could make you chuckle!

Ah yes, Dwight's implicit trust of faxes...

Pam's and the "You can tell me anything" works well in this context.

I love that Pam is inspired to paint Dwight's disbelief, I hope she gets to share.

Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad this repurposing worked for you!

All in all a pretty canon compliant chapter, though the added trash talk was a nice touch.

Author's Response: Yeah, I just wanted to get that little extra dig in; the rest is just setting up the emotional arc, which is still canon-adjacent if not totally compliant.

I'm with Pam here, the "competitive" side of Roy should definitely not be seen in any setting, at least not in the form we've seen it here!

I do like that Pam is taking time to paint still, even in the middle of these frustrating and confusing situations.

So I guess Hot Girl is coming up eh? I'm excited to see how that goes, you know that episode has a special place in my heart.

Sorry to review bomb, I've been busy and just now got all caught up!

Author's Response: Hot Girl it is indeed: there's a lot going on in my changed Hot Girl, so I hope you enjoy it. And I'm going to reply to all those reviews, so you get a counterbomb... thanks for them, I appreciate knowing your thoughts!

Ok, sorry but I can't keep up with the review bombing! Has it really been a week since I last reviewed? I think chapter 9 was where I left off. Anyway, on with actually reviewing.

The arc that you're taking Pam through while Jim is totally unawares is wonderful and you write her emerging emotions wonderfully. Having Pam in her eyes making a jump with no one to catch her makes her very brave in this story, and I really appreciate that it's not about her and Jim, but yet it sort of is... Well done!

Looking forward to their shared realisations!

Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying her emotional changes, because they're the key to this story, I think. I'm glad to know they seem to be working for you!

I'm glad to see that even with the specter of Katy hanging over Jim's should Pam still confides in him and takes what she can get. The delightful surprise that they are both single will surely make her day at some point, and I look forward to that. Jim being oblivious to the whole facade that he put up is just icing on the cake, hopefully his isn't offput by Pam's distance.

Well done as per usual!

Author's Response: I think this is the situation we'd have if there hadn't been the whole tragic-backstory-Casino-Night thing between them. Because she can trust in him because she hasn't hurt him. I hope you enjoy the next chapter of Pam POV!

Quite the emotional low point in the chapter with Pam's hesitance at Jim's 'Love you,' ouchies. I did appreciate the pick me up with the kids, but the low just before that with with the teapot reminisce was tough too. Really well written chapter with quite the swing of emotions. Well done, I look forward to more with trepidation!

Consider yourself forearmed, I will be upset if there is actually an affair 😠

I mean I'll probably get over it, but please no!

Author's Response: Thanks DG! No trepidation allowed! With patience and a little time, all shall be revealed.

The kids were just all sorts of adorable. Cece's rag on Pam with the stranger danger had me chuckling.

Of course Pam has caught the eye of Jim's big client. At least that means she might get invited along so Jim won't be all alone with A... Am... ok. I'll be honest I forgot her name and I'm writing this review a few days later because I've been busy - moving on!

I feel like a kid covering their eyes at a movie - you don't want to look but you also want to know what's going on - you've definitely done well on hooking us that's for sure. I'd be here for the kids if that was all that was going on with the story.

JJ your warning went unheeded, by the time I got to that part I had already forgotten! Take that as a credit to your writing, I was very immersed in what felt like a very chaotic situation, with kids on one side, more stranger danger, and supposed marital troubles all rolling around.

Admittedly I still dislike Amia in a personal sense, but youve written her in so well, so great job there, I'm with Jim on the whole bitter about not sitting with the kids thing 😉.

This was a great chapter, and I look forward to seeing more!

Author's Response: Aww, thanks DG. Would it surprise you if I told you I had you and Aly in mind when I added the warning? Thanks for putting up with all the craziness, haha.

Summary: Pam wanted to help out Jim, to get closer to what once had been. Only things never seemed to go her way, and maybe help could come from other places.

I really enjoyed the chapter, and I too feel like Karen was a decent human being who was only guilty of being involved with Jim.

I'm interested to see where this goes, as we saw from the Christmas episode Karen and Pam really can get along well, so it'll be interesting to see what form their relationship takes after Pam says some things... How much Pam says I am waiting impatiently to find out!

I love Karen and Pam's talk here, although I felt like Karen's overconfidence that Jim would go back to her will come back to bite her - or I hope so. Here's hoping Jim doesn't go full hermit on them.

I love wishy-washy Jim bashing, looking forward to seeing how you decide to move forward with this!

Summary: FeatureTake a little stroll through Season 3 with me, will you? See what’s going on in Jim and Pam’s heads as they try to find their way back to each other.

Start at Casino Night, take a left at The Merger, and end up somewhere before Fun Run. Most chapters will follow actual episodes from Season 3.

So this is going to be a cumulative review - so sorry, but I've been really busy! I'd love to leave a review on every chapter but it's easier to do a drive-by at this point.

No objections to skipping some S3 angst - I'm all aboard.

It's really nice to get into the heads of Jim and Pam in canon - as much as I love a S3 fixit it's always interesting to see how different people have the characters justify their thoughts and actions.

I'm excited to hear the happiness is approaching, you've done a great job with this so far so I'm looking forward to seeing some fluff too.

Author's Response: Thank you!! It’s been a super hot minute since I’ve written anything and following canon was the easiest way for me to break back into it. I’m happy with how it’s been turning out but I’ve definitely caught the bug and want to write more, especially some stories that diverge from the “script”. Thanks for reading! :)

Summary:

Two months after her husband dies, Pam receives a gift from him that helps her in more ways than she could ever imagine. Now it’s four years later and she’s finally ready to start dating again, but just like everything else in her life, it gets a little messy.

AU based off of The Guardian by Nicholas Sparks. If you’ve read the book, this plotline will be pretty similar while still incorporating characters/references/small plotlines of The Office as well as possibly my own little twists.

Aww. That was sad and sweet, I'm really looking forward to seeing where you go with this, seeing as I'm not familiar with the inspiration.

I am worried that you're taking a swing at my unofficial "Best dog as a supporting character" title!(Just kidding, I love the idea of Pam getting a puppy - although I can't help thinking of John Wick with how you did it, which is just a fantastic mental image.)

I look forward to seeing how things go with Roy, especially since Jim is already in the picture and Pam is aware of his feelings towards her.

Singer as a litmus test is wonderful - and although Roy is actually cast as a really sweet dude so far, I can't help but yelling at Pam "THE DOG KNOWS!" Oh well. I guess I'm along for the ride and we'll see how it goes.

Some really interesting perspectives all around on Pam and Roy's date. I couldn't quite suss it out but something about Jos description seemed a little foreboding. Of course Jo is rooting for Jim, that's really sweet. Hopefully the pep talk from Danny was just what he needed.

Great job, looking forward to whatever happens next!

What's going through Pam's mind on Casino Night right after Jim tells her he loves her?

Alternately we get to get to see into that cute mind of Pam Beesley!

I feel like you really captured Pam's thought process well here, especially with the ring weighing her down. I know I said it back over on ffnet, but I like that you chose not to have them speak, I feel like it really serves your narrative well.

I think I followed who was speaking pretty alright, so well done there. Admittedly some of the dialogue near the end I was unclear on, it was hard for me to make out what was being said... Not sure if that makes sense or not. Pam's reaction seemed in line, but Jim reading it as a rejection and his responuse had me a little lost? Specifically him saying he didn't want to do that, it just didn't quite seem to fit in my mind.

That aside though, you did great justice to the scene and really captured the mood.

You convey the raw emotion and confusion in this chapter really well, I could really relate to Jim's disorientation and spinning there. I'll admit that I was a little confused at how Pam showed up so quickly, but I guess we can chalk that up to an unreliable narrator in this case! Well done, nervously looking forward to catching up with the rest!

Nice use of parallels between the perspectives, showing how in tune Jim and Pam are at this point. Pam's sudden appearance is also explained, so that's a mystery tied up neatly! Looking forward to the next chunk of plot of what I've deduced from the chapter structure rings true!

Oh man, that was a rollercoaster. From fever crazed Jim to does Cece have enough milk to emergency surgery, quite the up and down in moods. Again you do a great job of conveying their emotions, I'm just hoping everything turns out ok and we can get to the cute Cece visits dad in the hospital type stuff 😂
