Beyond happy to see this one updated. I still want to bang Pam & Jim's heads together and I wouldn't mind Danny & Cathy taking a long walk on a short pier. Looking forward to NY and seeing if I can really get past slutty Jim's constant sexcapades of the last 6-7 years. Pam probably deserves Danny, but I still always want Jim/Pam in the end.
1 Love this chapter (though I'd like to knock Jim & Pam's heads together so they wake up). There is enough of sweet caring Jim mixed in with slutty Jim to keep me from disliking him. The date with Kelly was hilarious, Jim is probably going to hate himself for the Cathy comments. Kelly WILL talk and adding Cathy back into the mix will be another layer for Pam & Jim to get through if they are ever going to be together. The banter in Pam & Jim's messages is so we'll done.
Very excited to see what happens next, especially after the kiss. I have the feeling these two are headed for some choppy waters, but I'm hopeful they figure it all out.

With their banter, glad you liked it because admittedly, one of the hardest things I've come to realize in writing is imagining a conversation happening in my head. Especially anticipating how two people would react to each other.
Five years ago Pam left everything she knew behind for a life of adventure in Europe. Now she’s back and so much has changed. Can she overcome her past demons and find happiness, or is it just not meant to be?This is so well written, just beautifully done, though this chapter was incredibly difficult to read. I had hoped after the previous chapter he was divorced or his marriage was strained or anything to get them back to each other. I have to say though this is delicious angst. Can't wait for the next update!

Ok, I would like to shake Jim for not listening to Pam's voicemail, though I get it. If he listens and she is telling him goodbye, that's it. Game over. Not listening keeps hope and possibility alive. I'd still like to grab his phone. There is a real possibility that, after not hearing from him for a week, she has gone back to Paris heartbroken again.
I also get why Pam walked away. He just found out his wife wants a divorce, he is drinking anniversary champagne, they are in his house with his wedding photos prominently displayed, his toddler asleep upstairs. . .not the best of circumstances to launch into a passionate love affair. He isn't divorced, he isn't even technically separated. Also telling someone you want a divorce and getting divorced are not the same.

My joy when I saw there was an update was dampened a bit when I saw that the new chapter completed the story. I've really enjoyed this. You write beautifully and I was hooked immediately. So much so that I'd be happy for it to go on and on. Such an interesting premise, seemed very in character, well done!

1 I want to write a coherent review but I think I may need a cold shower first. Wow. Something that on the surface could be ooc for these two, you've written about in such a way that I am totally buying it. The banter, the sex, it is all hot.
Jim said there was nothing romantic about the office and he was right; this isn’t romantic. This is the furthest thing from romantic they’ve ever done.
But it just might be the hottest.
1 Yes, you wrote something kind of smutty and believe me I am here for it! When Pam thought she "hopes she isn’t accidentally shipping paper somewhere it isn’t supposed to go", I almost had diet coke shoot from my nose!

Did he realize how everyone would look at him for pushing Pam away (literally as well) when she's pregnant with their baby? 1 I was happy to see a new chapter up. The angst is thick here especially towards the end when you feel as if something big has or will be happening that Jim can't bring himself to discuss with Pam.
It's evident that she loves him deeply still. Not sure what Jim is thinking or feeling but I suspect we will soon.
Can't wait to see how Karen interacts with Pam, Jim, Julia and the kids.

I may hate Karen a bit less after this chapter, though I really feel it is unfair of her to be so terrible to Pam who has clearly put in effort with her over the years. It hasn't seemed like her marriage was all that happy before Jim & Pam ran into each other. Her treatment of Pam may not come from malice, but Pam would never know that & I'm sure it's obvious Pam is exhausted & unhappy. So I may feel a bit sympathetic towards Karen, but man am I starting to hate Jim. I'm close to wanting Pam to say "enough is enough" and take the kids and go. Jim seems nothing like the person who was so in love with Pam when they reunited and the storm clouds are gathering. Something is not right. I feel heartbroken for Pam. The kids too. What if Pam had called him die to an emergency? Though at this point it is, isn't it? This entire chapter made me sad.

This was beautifully painful. Of course I may have been rocking back and forth crying if you didn't promise things will get better. Pam is trying so hard to keep it together and reach out and Jim is in danger of creating a "too little, too late" situation. It's hard to imagine he doesn't see what's happening and where this is headed. They both know what happens when you don't communicate.
"...the thing that makes her so disposable, lovable only to a point." The last two paragraphs, oh my god. Poor Pam.
I am completely invested in these characters and this story. When I saw there was an update I was excited and afraid at the same time. More please!

I don't know why I was so shocked at the separation. I can't imagine how difficult Pam's call to Karen was for her to make. Jim should've made it.
I'm still finding it hard to feel sympathy for Jim. He could have fixed this ages ago. He seems to be getting a little taste of what Pam has endured for months, the big empty bed, crying himself to sleep.
He thinks that it's "been a week since his life fell apart", he seems as if he still doesn't quite get it. He stood by fiddling while Rome burned, while Pam burned.
You do this so well! All the emotions, heartache, ugh. It will be interesting to see if they are on the same page as far as what dinner's about.
He's hurt Pam so badly, can that pain inflicted over such a long period be forgotten or completely healed? She's right, sometimes love is not enough. It's got to be hard that it's taken the end of their relationship for him to suddenly find time.
Thank you for sharing your talent and imagination with us. I also appreciate you letting us know the story won't be completed so I can stop my possibly obsessive checking to make sure I didn't somehow miss an update.
I'm sad this story won't be completed. Five Years and this fic had me particularly hooked.

1 So very good! The dialogue was spot on, I loved the huge shift in mood and emotion from start to finish.
Canon-divergent, lyrics inspired, plot-bunny directed, get Jim back to Scranton fic set in early season 3 where Michael makes a yearbook, Pam makes a phone call, and Jim makes a decision.
1 I'm a big fan of your decisions. I have no problem with Josh being an even bigger jerk than on the show and definitely no problem with Jim not sleeping with Karen (way to go Jim!).
It was a nice moment when Jim reflected on the "unique" personalities of his old co-workers and realized Pam wasn't the only one he missed.
Interesting that Jim asked David about Michael's book. As out there as making that book may have been, it does humanize the people in Scranton and shows Michael feels strongly that the people are what is most important to the success of DM.
Can't wait to see what happens when Jim returns. Hopefully Jim wasn't the only one resisting meaningless sex!

And to me Jim's unhappiness in Stamford was not just about missing her, it was about his abrupt departure from a comfortable friendly place, no matter how chaotic and 'unique' it was.
The book was the germ of this story - I heard the song and had to make a way to get a bunch of photos into the story but when I did come up with it I realized how much it fit (as a companion piece to the film Michael made) and how much the book could represent. So I really love that you noticed it and picked up on it.

1 This was a wonderful way to wrap this up. They have really started not only to be honest with each other but with themselves. The meeting between Roy, Jim (and Pam!) in front of the condoms was awkward, angry perfection. Nice to see Pam doesn't let it knock her back several steps.
Thanks for writing this epilogue, I wasn't ready to say goodbye to these characters. Also we would've missed out on "...a bulky eighty plus box that screams I WANT SEX WITH YOU ALL NIGHT AND THEN EVERY NIGHT."

1 When I saw there was an update, the first thing I did was scan for "completed" and was relieved when I saw "no". So put me in the YES column for more chapters and/or an epilogue.
Pam meeting with Katy was a surprise but considering their long friendship the right thing to do. I smiled at the thought of Katy realizing during her hookup with Roy that there wasn't really anything between them. Suck it Roy! A lot of guilt for little return.
Big fan of Jim ragging on Danny & hopefully deflating his enormous ego on air.
The part about the difference holding hands now, something that is not new to them at all, being both strange and familiar was really nice.

1 This is incredibly impressive and so much fun to read. My first ending was the black hole and it was enormously comforting to be able to go right back and try again (and more importantly it is all so we'll written that I WANTED to keep going back to see how the story could be changed).
