Author's Notes:

This was written in February during the Writer’s Strike for the MTT Word Challenge. It assumes a number of things:

¯ Michael and Jan are still together

¯ Kevin and Stacy are still together

¯ Toby didn’t make a move on Pam, and has no real plans regarding Costa Rica.

Each chapter is a drabble (exactly 100 words) in which someone does something nice for Angela.

Table: Pam

Pam arranged and rearranged the fabrics on her kitchen table. They were so varied: a charcoal gray fabric with small golden crosses; a tan fabric with cats – white, gray, black, and calico; the beet fabric she had sought for weeks, finally finding it at a website for vintage fabric; and some background fabrics to blend with the others. It would be difficult to make the fabrics fit her vision – a beautiful quilt which warmed and comforted. She would keep trying, though. Angela’s baby was due in just nine weeks, and Pam knew that Schrute Farms could be cold at night.

Force: Andy by Too Late Kev

Force: Andy

For months, Andy had relentlessly tried to woo Angela back from Dwight, never greeting her without an attempt. He moon-walked past her desk, serenaded her, and showed up faithfully at her church on Sundays to sit a few pews away. He had thought this would force her to realize she had made a mistake marrying the Dwightster. But her belly continued to grow and her goo-goo eyes were still only for Dwight – today Andy would admit defeat.

Angela was standing at reception as Andy came in. Her eyes flashed a warning.

He said only, “Good morning, Angela.”

She smiled, relieved.

Vote: Jim by Too Late Kev

Vote: Jim

Jim was helping create a nursery at Schrute Farms, but it wasn’t going smoothly. Dwight wanted a beets theme, so the child would know his “roots.” Mose wanted a bacon theme – he wouldn’t say why.

“Guys, those are both great themes,” Jim lied. “Let’s add, um…a farm theme and a kitty theme, and let Angela vote.”

Jim and Mose waited while Dwight trudged off to find Angela. He soon returned, crowing, “It’s kittens! Just like I wanted!” He glared, as if daring Jim to contradict him.

Jim shook his head. “I don’t know what I was thinking with beets.”

Night: Creed by Too Late Kev

Night: Creed

Creed sidled up to Dwight Schrute at his desk. "I heard your Sheila can’t sleep at night."

"That's right."

"I’d usually recommend medicinal help, but I noticed a bun in the oven. Yours?"

"Of course!"

Creed looked at Angela appreciatively. "Good job, Ace. That's one fine señorita."

"Señora," corrected Dwight, uncomfortable with the conversation.

"For now. Anyway, I made a CD to help her sleep. I used to be in a band. Don't say it's from me."

"I won't."

"Here's my number when she wants more."

Dwight ripped up the number as Creed walked away, but he kept the tape.

Light: Darryl by Too Late Kev

Light: Darryl

Angela had taken her first sip of herbal tea when Kelly and Darryl came into the break room, Kelly talking non-stop.

“But do you think being born is like dying, you know, like all ‘Go toward the light!’ when you’re in the birth canal, or is it like you’re in a tunnel being pushed and shoved from all around and squeezed out like toothpaste, or is it…”

“Kelly, quiet down, girl. Can’t you see Angela needs some peace?” Darryl addressed Angela, saying, “Don’t you worry, little mama. We’ll have our snack in the kitchen.”

Angela looked up gratefully and smiled.

Court: Meredith by Too Late Kev

Court:  Meredith

“Pam, could you make sure Angela gets this list of parenting books I used?”

“Sure, Meredith. Are you heading out?”

“Yeah, I have traffic court. My kid took the car a few times without permission, and I guess he got some parking tickets and then threw them out. So now they’re trying to fine me for nonpayment.”

“I didn’t know Jake had his driver’s license.”

“He doesn’t.”

“Oh.” Pam looked flustered. “So, I should get this list to Angela?”

“Yeah, she wants to know what parenting books not to read.”

“Ohhh, um...good luck at traffic court, Meredith.”

“Thanks, Pam.”

Pineapple: Oscar by Too Late Kev

Pineapple: Oscar

“Don’t tell anyone that I showed you this,” said Oscar, as Angela read the list of food items. For the first time ever, the rest of the Party Planning Committee had come together to overrule Angela – she wasn’t allowed to plan her own shower. It was hard for her to accept.

“Pineapple Upside-Down Cake? Under no circumstances should cooked fruit be served at my baby shower!”

“It goes with the theme…”

“It’s a stupid theme!” cried Angela, crumpling the list in her hand. “You need to fix this.”

Oscar surrendered to his hugely pregnant, always difficult co-worker. “I will, Angela.”

Entourage: Stacy by Too Late Kev

Entourage: Stacy

“Why’d she want the no-frills model?” Stacy asked her fiancé.

“She said frills are for lazy mothers,” Kevin answered, worried that Stacy might be insulted by Angela’s attitude.

“Well, she needs a baby seat that vibrates and has a toy bar. They’re not for lazy mothers; they’re for mothers who want to stay sane.”

“Too late.” Kevin giggled.

“We’ll get the Entourage seat. She’ll be glad about the frills when she’s making dinner with a screaming baby.”

“She’ll be rude about it.”

“You can say it was on sale, so it was cheaper.”

“Then it’s a good business decision. Nice.”

Sky: Phyllis by Too Late Kev

Sky: Phyllis

“See the pink and blue streamers I found for the shower?” Phyllis whispered to Pam.

“Phyllis! That’s not baby blue, that’s sky blue! Sky blue is whorish!” Pam tried to look stern, but had to laugh.

Phyllis laughed too. “I used to be hurt when she said things like that, but then I realized it was just the way she is. I’d better not wear pink or blue for the shower, though.”

“But Angela loves calling you whorish!”

“Oh, dear.” Phyllis thought a moment. “I’ll wear my pink and blue pantsuit then. Just for Angela.”

Pam smiled. “She’ll like that.”

Lost: Kevin by Too Late Kev

Lost: Kevin

“This is our last accounting meeting until I come back from maternity leave, and I wanted to tell you…” Angela hid her eyes from Oscar and Kevin, hoping they wouldn’t see the tears forming. She gathered control of herself and continued “…that I’m leaving Oscar in charge.”

Oscar nodded; this wasn’t news to either of them. “Thank you, Angela. I’ll try to live up to your standards.”

Angela started to sob; she squeaked out, “You two will be lost without me!”

Kevin glanced at Oscar, mouthing “Are you kidding me?” Out loud, he said, “We will be so lost, Angela.”

Party: Jan by Too Late Kev

Party: Jan

Jan came into the office to see Michael standing in front of Angela, waving his hands near her belly.

“Whoa, Angela! It’s like there’s a party going on in there! I can see your stomach rippling! He’s partying like it’s 1999 – plus ten!”

Angela’s mouth pursed with disgust as she glared at Michael. She crossed her arms in front of her belly.

“Mommy, I can’t see! Stop covering my eyes!” Michael giggled.

Jan took Michael by the elbow and steered him into his office. “Lunchtime, Michael. And stop talking about Angela’s belly.”

“We were having fun!” Michael protested.

She wasn’t.”

Giant: Toby by Too Late Kev

Giant: Toby

Toby came into the kitchen as Creed was saying, “I’m telling you, Andrea, you’re gonna have a crazy tough time in labor. Have you seen Dwayne’s giant melon?”

“That is not helpful,” said Jim, as Angela started to tear up.

“Just saying it straight. She married a melonhead.”

“It’s all right, Angela,” Toby said. “My head was really big, and my mom said I slipped right out.”

“Really? Thank you, Toby.” Angela left the room with a withering glance at Creed.

“Isn’t your mom like six feet tall and big-boned?” asked Jim.

“Angela doesn’t need to know that.”

“Good point.”

End: Michael by Too Late Kev

End: Michael

“This is it!” Dwight sobbed to Michael. “It’s the end of my life as a wolf on the prowl!”

“Oookay, you were more like a wolf cub, anyway, Dwight.”

“I was a wolf!” insisted Dwight. “And now she,” he pointed to Angela standing outside Michael’s office, “is turning me into a tame dog.”

Michael looked at Angela, suddenly realizing that her contorted face showed pain instead of emotion. “Idiot! She’s turning you into a dad! Get her to the hospital!”

“What?” Dwight looked stunned, but Angela nodded.

“Come on, wolf cub,” said Michael, grabbing his keys. “I’ll drive you both.”

Thanks to Swedge for beta-reading. This completes the spate of nice things done for Angela, that not-so-nice, uptight accountant.
