This is such a cute story! I wish it would have really happened!

Now this is more like it! What could have been and you wrote it so well:
as she stomped over the awkwardness behind which he was shielding himself...
"Awesome," he muttered, as all his resolves suddenly were scattered on the ground...
"It's good to be back," he repeated. But this time he was talking about something else entirely.
As much as I love this telling, glad it didn't go this way on show only because of what we would have lost in all the great fics that break our hearts with angst or "fix them" like this one.
Very Sweet
Author's Response:
Thanks so much!!
Of course it's better the way it is, with all that long suffering, lol.
But I wanted to give this a try :)

This was adorable and cute and felt very much like something that could have happened and might have happened and maybe almost happened if their eyes had met in just the right way. *sigh* It would have been a better world.

If only! This was great, so much feeling encapsulated in just 400-odd words. Loved this!

This would have been much better for season 3.

Oh, that was the perfect way to start my morning! I love every bit of this story, and it feels so real... so sad that in canon, they (but mostly Jim) learned to be bold much later and after so many heartbreaks...
Thank you so much for writing this story!

Short but oh so sweet. You are 100% correct in that is what Jim should have done. All it would have taken was 10 second of insane courage and their lives would have shifted for the better so much sooner. Their ending lines in this one are the words of two people finally welcoming each other home. Loved it.
Author's Response:
Thanks so much! It was all there, the awkward looks, the unsaid truths, the body language... but of course, writers wanted to torture us, and they did.
Cheers!
