I love this meet for Jim and Pam! The crayons! And how he wants to be with a girl who will laugh at that kinda stuff with him... loved it! Solid work old boy.

Author's Response: Well thank you, you old chair

So this is just an adorable meet-cute for Jim and Pam. That Pam was already in the pranking business before Jim got there was a great little detail. I mean, lets face it, it was love at first prank.

Everyone telling Jim to grow up seems to ring true though. Jim was kind of childish those first couple of seasons. Makes sense he'd have been even more so pre-camera. Nice way to show that there was growth as the doc went on.

Tons of fun for sure with this one. Loved it.

Author's Response: Ah thank you so much! So glad you enjoyed it :)

I just listened to this song this morning after recently rereading and you have done such Jam justice to illustrating this awesome Ed Sheeran song! I love that Jim tries to do an English accent because our Galway Girl Pam absolutely does fall in love with an Englishman! Such sweet Jam callbacks too: Office Olympics, the air high fives, the bird funeral, Pam’s Irish Center mural commission, and the Night Out pool game! You blended Jam so well into the bones of this song!

Per usual, you write their chemistry so well. Their eye contact, glances, gazes, and little touches, including Jim’s sexy thumb swipe of Pam’s song-specific drink off her lower lip is just divine! And I love where you fit in the “Gaelic ink” too!

I loved the dance floor chemistry and it seemed like they were doing a lot more than swaying!! The cab ride home, Pam asking Jim to walk him home was also perfect. I love that they just slip into Helene babysitting and the family life and your sweet explanation of Pam’s newfound Irish heritage. What a fun night for them! And then we slip back to Galway Girl with the Doritos and wine reference. In my mind this is set pre finale pre Austin, and I love this little glimpse into that sweet and romantic portion of their life when they realize that they are indeed each other’s home, wherever they are. I hope after they danced they had another nice night leading to an even better morning! So great! But everything you do always is, friend!

Just missed Ed Sheeran in town as he was here but I was at my family reunion— AND he showed up with Eminem!!! Next time! I love Ed Sheeran in concert and anywhere and this is so great! You can adapt another Ed Sheeran song to Jam whenever you want!!

Author's Response: Thank you so much, as always for your wonderful review. I love that you got literally every reference in the song! I think this is going to be my only Ed Sheeran fic I’m afraid (seeing as I don’t know many other songs 🤣) but I’m so happy you liked this! Thank you again!!

I usually try to avoid season 9 fanfics but this is so good! You got Jim’s mindset during that arc quite accurate I feel. Jim was a mix of wanting something more than his crappy office job and want something more for his little family. But at the same time miss his family so much that there is a part of him that want to throw it all away so he can just be with Pam and their kids. He wanted it all his dream job and the cookie-cutter-white-picket-fence family of four with the love of his life. There are only three people he would dress up for (Pam, Cece and Phillip). Love the parallel to Jack and Sally.
A jellybean for you!

Author's Response:

Ah thank you so much! This was something new I had never done before in terms of an inner monologue, so glad you liked it!

Thanks for the review!

I can’t help but be curious about how Jim
found out about Pam’s death, and his actual reaction/breakdown.
Also seeing the situation from Karen’s POV
could be interesting because even though I’m
not a fan of her, I think that seeing your boyfriend
going into the psych ward because of another woman would be heartbreaking. It’s one thing for Jim to say he has feelings for Pam, but it’s another for Jim to lose himself over her.
Also Jim’s breakdown would throw a serious wrench into her plans of moving to New York for the corporate job.
So could you think about writing another fic to go along with this one? Thanks
BTW do you might know when we might get another update for Hello Daddy? I’m really missing it.

Author's Response: Ah thank you so much for the review. But oof! I think several people would murder me if I added another chapter! I think this is firmly done and I’m back to the land of fluff. If you ever want to know more about a fic, just come say hi on Discord!

Hello Daddy will be back soon. I’ve had some motivational issues on it, but I’m midway through the chapter so it shouldn’t be too much longer. Sorry for keeping you waiting!

Um. Ow.

Well, this was a brutal reading experience. I thought you did a good job placing us in poor Jim's addled state of mind and giving us enough clues to figure out the ending in the text itself - the somewhat dreamy and inconsistent state of time, moving back and forth between places and realities without warning. And ugh, what an especially terrible moment for Jim to lose her, just when he has hope.

Ouch. Just ouch.

Author's Response: I know, I know, I'm sorry. There was other Halloween fluff, so hopefully that can cheer you up. So very sorry but thank you for the review!!

This was a very interesting premise.
I can see Jim losing it if Pam did die,
especially when he finally realized he
had a real chance with her, but shot her down anyway.
Jim can now see how he truly took took Pam for granted, much like how Roy always did.
I can also sort of see how Jim having a break down over Pam could be the last straw for his relationship with Karen, because it’s very unlikely that
Jim would have the same reaction if she had died.

Author's Response:

Yeah it's quite a unique one! This is one of my favourite songs and I really wanted to write a fic for it, but it's about someone who's friend dies in a car crash, so it was never going to be a cheery one.

Yeah Jim absolutely wouldn't feel like this if Karen died - as he shouldn't!!

Thanks for the review

Oh my god. You made me stop reading the fluffy goodness for this. Why do you want to make us cry?

Brilliantly written and beautiful corrections of the moments they missed but oh my god.

Please promise never to do this to us ever again if I give you all my jellies.

Author's Response:

Well that's why the fluffy one was there, so that you could recover! But yeah, there were a lot of missed opportunities for them.

SO SORRY and now back to the fluff

Oof yeah that one hits hard. Not just the way that they could have really been honest with each other but the effects on Jim's mind. While hard to read it's also well done. Wish I could say more, but that's really all I've got.

Oh my God. *shudders*

You know what, it may not be everyone's cup of tea (because you know... spoiler) but I loved reading it. I'm not saying I'm sadistic. I just like reading these types of things.

You can see all the roads not taken and all the things that could have been. This is a great interpretation of how things between Jim and Pam could end in disaster. Let's all thank our lucky stars you weren't the showrunner. Kidding.

Have all my jellybeans.

Author's Response:

You're not sadistic? Are you sure??

Hate to break it to you, but I'm back to all things fluff now

I'm not sure I recognize what's new - the third person or tacking season 9 - not an easy task I know, but you've done well getting at what he might have been going through and thinking and dreaming.

I appreciate that the Jim you write for this story believes he's doing this to give his family more but also knows there's the part of wanting to do more for himself - more than sell paper - something he can be proud of and be the best for them.

I can totally see the Halperts doing a Halloween Christmas and that this would be the time he would get into costume for them.

Good job here

Author's Response:

It’s the first time I’ve written in first person or ever really done an inner monologue kind of thing, so I wasn’t sure how it would be received. But I’m glad that it’s come across well!

Thanks so much for the review :)

First off, OW. The Season 9 vibes are strong and painful. I feel like we don't necessarily get a great sense of how much *Jim* is worried that they're losing what they had, and seeing that in his eyes and expressed through all these classic Jam moments in chilling.

But also: the image of them dressed up in Nightmare Before Christmas costumes for actual Christmas is amazing, and feels like a Halpert family thing.

Author's Response: Thank you as always for the review! Glad I could give you that image of them all dressed up :)

Woah. Shout out to me for being an actual beta, so proud.

I think I’ve only watched season 9 once, are you going to kill me if I admit that?! But I really like this look into the season 9 angst, I’m going to think of it as canon :) the problems will still continue but having this nice moment for them all warms my heart.

This is well written and I want you to give yourself a pat on the back, for you writing a first person fic and I know the tenses were a tricky one.

Your reward for another fic being posted is another oversharing fact, I guess? Should you choose to claim it, just let me know.. I’m sure I can rummage around in this bad beta brain of mine.

Please have more faith in yourself, I know I’ll then be out of a job but I guess it’ll finally be a job well done?

From your number one fan - a sleepy yellowberry22

Author's Response: It’s all taken back now. You just get worse and worse. Should you even be allowed on this site? I’m not so sure.

Having said that, thank you for your unwavering support and hype-up-ness. I deffo wouldn’t have finished this one without your help.
Now please go and watch The Office again.

Angst? Yes, please!

You did a really great job with this. It's nice to see Jim fearful about the things he's missing out on and how his success is actually failing his family (it certainly doesn't come across in canon, or at least as much as it should). It's painful knowing where this one leads but I really like what you did with NBC (one of my faves!) and him trying to do something small but meaningful for his family. The parallels between himself and Jack are great too. I feel for S9 Jim, I just wish we'd seen more of *this* side of him.

Author's Response:

Thank you so much!! That’s so great to hear, especially from you - I feel you are very much the queen of angst. I was merely dipping my toe here, not sure I’ll be back too soon!

I Miss You is all about NBC, so when I rewatched it, I kind of felt Jack was restless like Jim and wanting more, so glad you liked those parallels.

I’ll be leaving the angst to you in the future I feel! But thank you so much for the review and lovely comments!

This was really well written. Right in the depths of S9 angst and heartache for sure. To think that Jim wouldn't have been there for Christmas Eve was really a killer. The same with him thinking that he can't tell Pam any of these thoughts because she already has enough to deal with and he knows it's his fault. Very realistic in that regard.

Very glad for the lightheartedness of Halloween/Christmas. Very unexpected but still very cute. You can tell that here at home, with his family Jim feels complete. If only he'd have really listened to those feelings somewhat sooner. Great job with getting a lot of complex feelings woven throughout this one.

Author's Response: Thank you so much!

The song I Miss You is kind of all about NBC - the line ‘we can live like Jack and Sally if we want’ so I wanted to make sure I really brought that to life.
Thanks again for the review and your kind comments!

Judging the fact that you have tickets to see Ed Sheeran, but letting it slide.

Absolutely loved this so much, smiled the entire way through it. Now write me a long story about Irish Pam, I think I’m in love. Please.

I’ve had the desire to be a good beta today so I think you need to send me something quickly. I don’t think I can store this energy for another time.

Still the worst beta ever. Always your number one fan.

Author's Response: Still a terrible beta, but thank you for making me keep going with this one! I guess you're not so bad

Okay, this was ridiculously adorable and I can 100% picture Jim and Pam doing this. I also thought you did well planting enough seeds of what was actually happening to make the twist fair. Fun way to play with reader expectations - it's not just that they have a lot of shared traits with canon Jim and Pam, it's that they're literally canon Jim and Pam. And it's lovely to have them have this moment of reconnection after all the ugliness of Season 9. Feels like they needed it.

Hope you're enjoying your hamentashen...

So, this was a ton of fun. It's a great music video and a great song too. I'll admit you had me going there for a bit. Thinking we're getting a British Jim and an Irish Pam. Still even thinking that it was super cute to see the way they were connecting at the bar. Pam playing fiddle or trying to dance a ceili were great images.

Since I was so heavily wrapped up in British Jim and Irish Pam, when they got back and Pam starts whispering to her Mom, I was like, kids? What kids? Does this Pam have kids she didn't talk to Jim about before inviting him to her apartment looking over Galway harbor? Then it clicked about the role play. Which made it really sweet. They're still having fun and making things interesting. Great job with this one.

Slainte!
