Oh man, what a great chapter. This part:
For the first time all night he looks at you, actually looks at you. “You don’t get it. I can’t… I can’t think right now. I can’t talk. I just… I have to see if she’s okay.”
rocked me to the core (just like it did Karen.) Because he's never felt that urgency with her, that panic, that extreme of any kind of emotion. And she knows it.

I'm so glad you're continuing this! I love your take on that night, especially Pam calling Karen. And this chapter was so awesome, with Jim concerned only about Pam and having to get to her to make sure she's OK. And even though she just broke up with him, Karen's still concerned for his safety with Roy.

I love that Jim just had to go check on Pam, even though Karen said Pam wouldn't want to see him. I like the change to Jim's POV at the end and "you shouldn’t have had to say it" and “Just try not to get yourself killed, okay?”
