Having been a JAM devotee from the very beginning, I just can't sign on to a Pam/Ryan romance for the show . However, you have written such a great story here, DinkinFlicka. The initial premise was wonderful, and the resolution was satisfying. I love how strong you wrote Pam, and I wish canon Pam would take a few cues from her. Great work, and I can't wait to read more from you!

I will not throw garbage at you.  This story has really grown on me.  I can see how great Ryan and Pam could be together.  Well, with the way that you've written Ryan.  In your story, he's fantastic.  He's sweet, romantic, and sexy.  On the show, he's just as soon throw away a gold medal made from a yogurt lid and paper clips.  You have managed the impossible - for me to love a story that isn't about Jam.  In the end, I agree with your ending.  It fits, and in this situation at least, it's what Pam needs to do.  Thanks for giving us a look at what life could be like for Pam elsewhere.

*standing ovation*

That's really all I have to say. Perfection.

I almost started crying at the thought of Pam leaving D-M.  Why am I this attached to the characters???  I am proud of her though for doing what she's doing and I love how well the Sex and the City story fit with this one (and thanks for explaining it because I've never seen it).  Thanks for making Pam and Ryan believeable (at least in fic, I'd scream if the show abandoned JAM but I really like reading different pairings like this).

This equals love.  I totally thought Pam and Jim were going to end up together at the beginning (maybe because I am a newbie to fanfic and I had read only happy Jam funtimes, but I digress...) but lo! Pam/Ryan is way better!  Who knew? You did. Thanks for the edumacation.

Wow - I really do like how this turned out. Once again, I don't usually like the unusual pairings, but I really liked the Pam/Ryan combo you gave us. And I barely even felt sorry for Jim. Bravo for doing something a little different, and doing it really well!

AHHHHHHHHH!

Okay my internet connection died and I was freaked out because I wanted to read this story, and it was worth hours of agony.

Everything about this is so perfect and it feels real and natural and it really ended beautifully.  Every character got their little moment and it was spot on (but no Toby :()

-sobs- I can't really catch onto the Pam/Ryan ship that's set sail, but it was still a good story.

And that picture - curious to why it's titled 30 Rock. (It's my favorite TV show, xD)

I can't believe it's over!  But this ending was absolutely perfect - I can't really imagine it any other way.  You are amazing!

wow! I liked it! I'm kind of glad it ended this way, that maybe she and Jim had their chance and they've moved beyond it.
All the references to Sex and the City and especially My Girl killed me! And Creed and Detroit!

Thanks so much for writing this, I earnestly await your next story!

Brava! Lovely ending. I think it all worked out for the best. I always get sad with fics that involve *any* of the Dunder Mifflinites leaving, even if I know it's better for them, so I was a little upset through some of this final chapter, but happy for Pam underneath. And the Ryan/Pam ending was very nice. I'm still shipping Jim/Pam like whoa in canon, but in this story that you built up, the choices Jim made and the effort Ryan put into being there for her, I was with Pam in the end: her being with Jim just didn't feel right. So way to go on convincing me :)

“Dwight, you will be playing the role of Steve, the bartender with one testicle,” Michael moves on and Dwight pumps his fist in the air like he’s just won something.

Just wanted to say this made me laugh my ass off. :)

I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU!

I'm SO happy with how you ended this, because it's really perfect.  Maybe at the beginning of the story I was still hoping she'd end up with Jim, but it just didn't make sense anymore and, seriously, your Pam and Ryan are SO CUTE together.

Michael WOULD be a "Sex and the City" fan.  HEE!

“I don’t know that it’s supposed to work. It… it doesn’t really feel right anymore.”

No, it doesn't, and as painful as it is, I'm starting to think that your resolution to JAM (they do NOT get together) may be where the show is heading. If so, Pam/Ryan works for me. :)

Well done story, very engaging. I've enjoyed all of this. I especially like all the interior dialogue you gave Pam, showing us how she changes and grows. That's a tricky transition, and you made it believable. Thanks for sharing this story.

Okay, so probably I will be leaving some long, coherent thing once I put my mind back together, but for now:

BEST. EVER.

Okay - I'm JAM to the bone, but this entire story was just so well written, I couldn't help but enjoy it.  Even though to be honest, there were times when I was reading it though my fingers.  The story was hot, and funny and silly and sad. You made Ryan/Pam entirely plausible. I found myself grinning like an idiot at the picture at the end.   Congratulations universe, you win.

Aw man!!! I really wanted that to be Jim! But it's kind of perfect how it is. I got so invested in this story, and that's solely because of the writing. Keep it up, I love your stuff.

Well done, Ms. Flicka!   I loved it.   The best part is that the angst is so suspenseful, so emotional, but not overwhelming and depressing.  What a terrific ending!   Love love love.

MY HEART IS VERY FULL AT THIS MOMENT.

Oh, this is so great - YAY Pam/Ryan! YAY LEAVING DUNDER-MIFFLIN. And hee, the Sex in the City thing was awes.

And augh, her getting rid of things like the yogurt lid and paperclips hit ME in the griefbone, but also, it's so time. This was just so satisfying. WELL PLAYED, YOU.

I can't believe how you've turned The Office upside-down and made it believable to me.

It's not that I think Jim would ever do some of the stuff you have him doing (such as the scene in the ship's bar where he's showing Pam what he wants Ryan to do...), but you made me willing to suspend my disbelief and go along for the ride.

In this chapter, it's really interesting that Jim has dumped Karen.  The Pam-ship has sailed without him, and now he's looking around for a boat to go after her.  But he doesn't get a good fast boat, he gets a leaky half-assed boat.  And he's clueless!  "Um, I can go to New York, too!  It'll be great!  I just didn't waste months with someone I don't care about!"  Too late, Jim - you should've just stayed with Karen!

Everyone was very much themselves here, except Ryan, and Jim, who are altered versions (that I'm accepting).  Ryan is definitely an upgrade from the show; Jim plummets to a somewhat cowardly somewhat jerky guy.

I liked everyone's responses to the announcement Pam was leaving, the Kelly/lipstick response particularly.

Your Michael/Pam interchanges were very nice.  I especially liked when Michael said if he had a daughter... and then she hugged him to cut him off in case he was about to say something to ruin it.  (Like "If I ever had a daughter and she... liked girls, you are the person I would want her to have hot lesbian sex with."  That's the kind of thing you were implying he might say, right?  In any case, that's what Creed and I inferred.)

I do think Pam would still go to New York the next day (or maybe the day after, and just come back for the graduation.  I have that trip as 2 hours, 13 minutes on Mapquest.  Maybe I should check Wikipedia, so I can get the best possible information.

So, no garbage throwing from me.  I was glad to see you updated this; I was wondering where you were!

I look forward to whatever you write next.  Your stories always make me think, and I tend to enjoy your crazy dark view.  (Of course, on the show, I'm really ready for some light, fluffy, JAMtastic moments.) I also like that you know where you want to go with a story, and you do it.  Peer pressure be damned!

We'll see what the next story is, and if we ever get to that date at the dojo...

OMG, what a GREAT ending!!! SO many great moments with each and every character. I'm so sad to see this end. LOVED this part:

“Maybe you’re right, Pam,” Kelly sniffs, standing up straight. “Maybe I inspired him to do great things, like Joey did for Dawson. And someday he’ll make a show that chronicles his first love with me and how our relationship totally changed the course of his whole life even if we weren’t meant to be together forever.”

“Yeah... that’s kind of specific, but maybe,” Pam nods and Kelly hugs her tightly.

You got Pam and Kelly's dialogue SO down, there! I really really really really REALLY hope you write more Pam/Ryan SOON!!!

I wasn't liking the end because I thought it was Jim, despite the t-shirt thing (I was confused), because I am really dense.  I didn't like the Jim in this at all, but I still thought he was believable, so it worked out.  Pam and Ryan!  This is the first time I was really rooting for them!

I'm still surprised by how much I like this story, and by extension Ryan. But this was a really well written ending. Even if it wasn't exactly the happily ever after I was hoping for.
