Oh! Am really excited to see where you take this.
Great start!

Author's Response:

Headed toward that first date, desert island - it's just too much fun NOT to write!

Thanks for the review!

It's not too late! Yay! I love stories that go behind the cameras. Perfect touch that it was the very cameraman from Casino Night. So cute how he tried to comfort Pam but then turned her over to Jim the very first chance he got! Hee!

Author's Response:

Belsum, I love exploring what happens beyond the cameras too!  I'm convinced that there's so much we don't see....  And yeah, I'm a sucker for the idea of Jim comforting a veklpempt (horrid spelling, I know) Pam.

Thanks for the review!

This?  Perfect.  You captured the emotions so beautifully.  Lovely work, as usual.

Author's Response:

Your reviews are always so flattering because I'm always totally in agreement with your posts on TWoP (and the newly minted paragon of awesomeness, the Annex).

Thanks so much for your posts - and the review!

Aw!!!!  LOVE!!!! Sigh :)  Thanks for the smile.  And great last line!

Author's Response:

Thank you!  And that last line...totally inspired by John Krasinski.  (Seriously - his hotness aside, hee - that man convey so much with just a look, doesn't he?   Amazing...)

Thanks for the review!

I can't pick something to quote back at you. With absolute precision and economy, you've captured the quiet enormity of that moment. I cried, myself. Pam must have. This is a wonderful way to extend the afterglow! (Love!!!)

Author's Response:

Listen, I'm still reeling from "Cocoa and S'Mores."  (Gorgeous, just...yeah, left some reviews.)  As I've said before: It's so incredibly flattering (and humbling) to read positive reviews from people whose work is simply astounding.

So THANK YOU.

Lovely work Ms girl7 - and so speedy!!  You are amazing.   Perfect continuation of what happened onscreen. Adored every word esp. this...

"No! No, I'm fine, really." She nodded emphatically, swiping at her nose with the handkerchief. And then she paused, her eyes fixed on the opposite wall, a faraway look in her eyes as she added, "How could I not be...?"

Because c'mon.   How could she not be indeed.

Author's Response:

Ah - thank you!  At the risk of sounding totally redundant - honestly, a positive review from you is so unbelievable (flattering, humbling, inspiring) because your stuff is so consistently amazing.

Case in point: I'm teaching a new course in the fall, have a stack of books to read/annotate in preparation...yet the top priority on my summer reading list is (seriously) all of your stuff - because yours was the Office fic that completely drew me in, and I know that when I re-read it, I'll not only enjoy it that much more, but I'll catch so much that I missed the first time around.

So, yeah...thank YOU, in all honesty.  (Hoisting a glass of pinot grigio at you, invoking a smoldering image of the best Johns - Krasinski and Irving.)

:O)

Just woke up, still reeling from the finale and read this. The last two lines are a perfect little poem. It's all there in a few well chosen words/images - clean, simple, just the truth of it. I guess I don't need to tell you how much I love that ;-)

Author's Response:

Ah, my friend - glad to hear you're still reeling from the finale, because so am I.

And I don't want to be pushy, but having just (finally!) read "Map of the World," I would so love your take on the finale.  Before you say it - doesn't matter if it takes you until mid-June to post it --- just write the thing!  Seriously...you always bring something new to the scenario; you are, in all honesty, the master of explicating subtext.

So...yeah - it's gonna be a long summer. Help us out, will you?

Thanks, as always, for reviewing - it is beyond flattering to read positive reviews from those whose work you really admire....

Holy mother of god. That freaking ending KILLED me.  It's so amazingly awesome in so many ways. So, so very awesome.  This oneshot owns me.

Author's Response:

Heh - it feels weird to respond to your reviews, what with our 2,000 daily emails.  :o) In any case - thanks for being patient with my bazillion endings and endless diatribes.

As for me...I'm chomping at the bit for you to post the brilliance that is the fic you've so carefully written.  Ah!  I really can't wait....

Thats exactly how I was crying! half-laugh half-sob, for about a good hour...it felt great

anyways...this was perfection, you were first to do post-finale, so wear it proudly!!

Author's Response:

Oh believe me, sister (brother?) -- so was I!  It was embarrassing, but as you said - it felt great, too!

It's such a pure source of joy,

Thanks so much for the review!

You rock my socks off for getting this up so quickly!!! You rock my socks off for being so freaking good!!! You are my hero...and now, I think I can finally go to bed...I think...perhaps...damn why isn't the office on on Friday so I can obsess when I don't have to go to work in the morning?! But I digress...thank you Girl7. You NEVER disappoint and I'm happy to see that this is NOT complete!

Author's Response:

Mkay, YOU rock MY socks for your baby fic -seriously.  As a fellow writer, I am totally, TOTALLY ashamed to admit to reading it without reviewing (it was either read two chapters and review them or read all the updates with no review -- as a writer, I'd choose the former; as a selfish reader, I chose the latter).  Seriously - I've said it before and I'll say it again: You took what could've spiraled into caricatures or hyper-emotional Hallmark portraits and made them into something so real and endearing, capturing the essence of the two characters we all love so much

Total tangent.  :o)

Thanks so much for the review (means a lot coming from a writer whose work I respect so much!) -- glad you're happy it's not complete!  This totally could've been a oneshot, but I'm incapable of not exploring that first date....

So lovely.  I like that you incorporated the crew into this story.  Pam did look on the verge of tears when Jim closed the door.  This was just so heartfelt.  A great companion for the episode! :)

Author's Response:

Thank you!  When she asked, "What was the question?", I immediately exclaimed to my husband, "Oh my god- she's about to cry!"  It really struck me as perfect - because she repressed so much for so long, and even after she took such brave steps toward independence, she wasn't really able to express herself.  So that final talking head was particularly poignant.

Thanks for reviewing (and for the awesome site - particularly the new forums!).

Wow...amazing and so perfect.  I love that the cameraman comforted her first and then Jim came back.  And of course she couldn't stop crying.  Perfect, just perfect.  Oh and love Jim recalling past stuff...amazing.

Author's Response:

I can't help but imagine that the cameramen are so pro-Jim and Pam -- don't you think?  How could they not be?

And the crying...oh, the crying!  Someone took a (veiled) shot at me (and other fanfic writers, I'm sure) shortly after season two ended, saying that just because Pam cried once (in "Boys and Girls" - the blogger apparently forgot the pilot episode), that did "not a crier make" (or something along those lines).  She was totally justified in asserting that interpretation, as we really didn't have concrete evidence to the contrary about Pam.

But Pam's head-in-hands crying during "Back From Vacation" sealed the deal for me - she is totally a crier!  Then to have her turn back to the camera after Jim asked her out in the finale, tears in her eyes as she barely managed to ask, "What was the question?"

....Totally vindicating.

IMHO, being overly emotional doesn't make a woman weak; it makes her fucking brave -- and this goes for Pam.  So yeah, this story stemmed from my hope that Jim would see her crying, so he'd know how real it truly was.

Anyhoo (a looooong tangent later!) - thank you for reviewing!

Oh yay!!!  This is like a cherry on top of the Jam sundae!  I am so excited for some girl7 goodness to help me process the awesomeicity of that finale!  Sorry, but it will be a while before I can communicate in any sort of coherent manner.

And you are off work for a while?, oh HAPPINESS!!!!  My new hobby will be refreshing this page!

Author's Response:

First of all: I haven't responded to your email because you really touched on some things that are important to me - so I want to reply when I've really got the time to think it out.  (For now: THANK YOU for being so honest and encouraging.)

Indeed, I am off work for two more weeks - next week I'll be on vacation and away from the internet (both a good and a bad thing -- good in that it'll leave me to focus just on Mr. Girl7, who is really amazing and my Jim, so...yeah *all teary-eyed and lame because he caught my eye just now - working on his laptop while I'm typing this - and winked at me, guh* -- bad because if the urge to write hits me - which it so WILL, given the awesomeness of the finale - I'll have to sit on it 'till I get back, arggh!)

Anyhoo (no pun intended!), I'll have a week after vacation to do nothing but write.  So yeah...feeling pretty productive these days!  (Thank you Greg Daniels, John Krasinski, and Jenna Fischer.)

And thank YOU, lisahoo, for the review and the awesome email that really meant a lot (will explain how/why when I respond) --

Wow, is all I can say to you for writing this so quickly!  I loved the ending of this, hell, I love it all!  I'm on such a JAM high right now, I don't even know what I'm saying! :)

Author's Response:

I hear you about the Jam-high!  Isn't it incredible?  I was telling my husband earlier that last year, we were in a daze because of the sheer weight of Jim's confession/kiss - both of which were beautiful, amazing, awe-inspiring - but we all had no real idea which way things would go.  This year has left us in much the same daze, only it's sweeter this time around because we know they're actually taking steps toward one another.  Fictional characters or not, it's an amazing thing - a miracle - when two people forge that kind of connection, then make the conscious commitment to see it through.

Thanks for reviewing!  (BTW: LOVE your icon in the Annex!  *swoon*)

This was lovely. So full of emotion and just- Beautiful. Thanks.

Author's Response:

Listen, any positive review from you is so flattering - honestly.  This probably isn't the proper forum within which to say this (but hey, we're not on TWoP, so it's not like Miss Alli will swoop in and smack me on the wrist with a ruler!) - seriously, though, I am in awe of your talent.  You simply never fail to produce work that is sheer poetry: poignant, succinct, and spot-on.  And it's just never failing, so consistently good.

So thank YOU for your incredible work.

...And for taking the time to review, of course. :o)

Author's Response:

I'll take that as a compliment, considering that this show freaking broke my heart on an almost weekly basis this year...only to make it all worth it!  :O)

Author's Response:

Coming from you, that's a serious compliment.  (A review of yours is forever in my head as one of the best - completely from memory):  As the mother of a son, this completely raises the bar for me.  Yeah.)  That's probably not word-for-word, but it's close; you left that review for "Only," and it really did mean a lot to me.

 So...yeah, you're awesome.  :O)

Thank you!

And now my night is complete. Seriously, it's possible I'm as addicted to your post-eps as I am to the actual show. If not more so /Jim.

I loved this. And I loved that the cameraman got to be part of it. And I loved the last line and gah! I loved it all.

Author's Response:

THAT is an amazing compliment!  This will go on a little longer (TWSS), but not too much more.  TPTB got it perfect this time.

Thanks for the review (all the reviews, actually, as well as your AWESOME fic that left me in hysterics for a good seven minutes or so.)
