"Jim had an irrational fear that she was going to ask him to be her Maid of Honor. All that talk of 'best friends' had him terrified that she was going to show up to work one day with a pattern and a seamstress and try to fit him for a dress."   I absolutely loved that thought!  I disagree with your assessment of "lame, sad flashbacky jim" - I think you're doing a great job showing us this side of Jim. The scene in the parking lot was so beautifully written - so perfectly them.

"The whole thing became old news so long ago, and the amount of times he’s replayed his own insanity in his head is mind-boggling."  Great line. I tend to forget how sad and angsty S1/2 must have been for Jim.

If Jim keeps thinking like this, I hope he doesn't make a quick U-turn and go back to NY!

Really enjoying this!  I love the look back to the angst of the triangle.  Excellent work!!!  Poor Jim.

Wow this is breaking my heart. I like it. :)

I like the way you're writing this "lame, sad flashbacky Jim". He sounds like Jim, and yet not like any of the other Jims I've read here on MTT that sound so much like him, too. Does that make sense? I guess I'm trying to say that you've found a new and authentic voice for him I haven't read elsewhere. Congratulations. Can't wait for more!

Michael had called her his wench and demanded ale

Dead ON Michael. So perfect a characterization of Michael Scott and his treatment of Pam. And your characterization of Jim is wonderful:

he ached to share in this with her; to shout “Hey, look at me! I think that’s funny too!”

I can just see that impatience in him, the need to share, the frustration of being blocked from sharing with her.

Author's Response: oh man, that's the best compliment i have ever been paid.

Wow. A grown up Jim voice. I'm liking this a lot. I love the line

he isn't so much mad as he is bitter

and

He doesn’t think he can be so Sensitive anymore, because he doesn’t quite think he ever really was.

Author's Response: thank you! I really was trying to give a more grown-up, realistic sensibility to him.

I don't think it's lame at all.  I'm intrigued.

I really like this.  It's a great view into Jim's mind.  I don't blame him either - lord knows how many times I've wanted to shake Pam out of her Roy funk.  More soon please!
