There seems to be only enough guilt for one of us to feel, and it appears to be her turn. For now.

Swiff! Are you KIDDING me? Guh... how awesome is that line? Okay, I know I'll be saying this a lot, but this is my favorite chapter so far. Awkward factor 5 plus adorkableness factor 15 multiplied by brilliance factor 112. :)

Also...Pajama!Pam? Well, that's about the cutest thing ever.

Oh, and you're going to think I'm sucking up or lying or whatever, but I always believed that "Singin In The Rain" was Pam's all time #1 favorite movie. True story. So, do you want to get out of my sub-conscious, or shall I? :-P

No way would I be in too much of a tizzy to say how great this chapter is.  I love the first-person Jim and there was so much sweet tension here.  He's trying so hard to hold it together.  Let's hope that resolve doesn't last all night!

I'm loving this.  Is it weird though that I hear the loud clock ticking at the very end - like on 24?

Seriously - this is such a great idea.  I like fics that veer away from the real events of CN.  It's interesting to see what could/would have happened if Jim had approached it differently!  More soon please!

Hey Wendy Blue, I would def start adding the a.m.'s so down the line it will be easier. I love this story! Do you have eveything planned out or are you winging it like Jim & Pam?

Hi, Wendy Blue!  I'm catching up a little bit with fic-reading...

I'm really enjoying this so far.  I think it's so likely that Jim would have told Pam about transferring on Casino Night - the confession sure surprised me!  This is a really good alternate take!

I'd add AM or PM to the little time-stamp on the end, so it's really clear.

Nice job on this.

Author's Response: Thanks TLK!  I was a little wary to throw out yet another version of Casino Night, but this story was in my head begging to be written and I just couldn't say no.  So glad you're enjoying it! :)

I'm so excited to see where this is going! I love this different take on Casino Night!

And a tiny editing question:
"I know it’s selfish, but I’m glad she said before I had to because honestly I don’t think I could have done it without crying like a girl."

I think you meant  "I'm glad she said it before..."

Again, great start!!

now I sort of want to try Wendy's fries dipped in frosty.  But only if I can share them with Jim....

Author's Response: Ditto :)  Thanks for reading, lisahoo!

I have to come down on the side with Jim on the whole French fry in the Frosty being gross debate, fo sho. All my friends seem to love it, and they always tell me "You have to try it," and I have, and I think it's gross. But this is not Cousin Mose story hour, this is "Tell Swiff how awesome her latest chapter is hour," which, really, is pretty much going to be every review from here on out, so... :)

A couple of really fantastic lines stood out to me in this chapter, especially "the way all the breathing in the car seems to have stopped," and, "it's prom night all over again and I'm holding the keys to a hotel room." Just amazing how you capture the tension and angst of these two and make them so believable. Well, maybe it's not amazing; since you're a brilliant writer, maybe it's just to be expected. Yeah, let's go with that. :)

Oh, and if Wendy Blue owned Wendy's, she'd be in the GREEN! BWAHAHAHAHAAAA!!

*ahem*

'Scuse me. I'll just be over here.

Author's Response: See, this is what happens when you review in the wee hours of the morning ;)  Only kidding, Mosemobile (haha, get it?); I'm so glad to hear that you think this is still ringing true.  Thanks for taking the time to read this even in the midst of your exile :)  You rock!

Wendy, I spent many happy hours at the baseball field with my Dad and my older brother when I was little, so this just felt perfect to me.  Of course, Jim would want to take her there.  It's heartbreaking how much he wants her to be part of his life and I love how you having them dancing around the line that they both know is there but aren't prepared to completly jump over - yet!

...and I realize that this is what keeps me going.  Not just tonight, but for the countless hours spent trudging through a dead-end job.  She’s all the motivation I need, and it’s terrifying to think of moving on without that.

Beautiful angst.

Author's Response: Thanks so much sweetpea!  I'm glad I could bring back good memories for you in this little fic o' mine :)  Thanks for reading!

okay, maybe that’s a little excessive.   Excessive, but adorable.

“Maybe you’ll meet some cute Connecticut girl.”   Ouch.  Ok, Pam, where to?

Author's Response: We'll find out soon!  Thanks for reading!

See, you keep producing chapters like this, and you're going to force me out of exile permanently! Not that I'd complain, mind you... :)

That last line is fantastic. So much symbolism there. I am loving this story!

Author's Response: Thanks Mose! And if chapters are what it takes to bring you back then chapters it is :)

Okay, I love every single bit of this! I love that Jim has planned imaginary dates (not just first dates, either!) with Pam. I love Pam being willing to climb the fence in her dress and the image of Jim helping her over. Continued excellent work and I cannot wait to see what happens after midnight ;)

Author's Response: The wee hours of the morning are coming up soon :) Thanks for reading!

*sigh* there's so much good about this chapter! the fence, the fact that he's always wanted to take her there, Pam being honest about the fact that she hates Katy? hilarious. i really love the way you capture their emotions and lay them out without flourish, but with just enough fluffyness to be perfect :) (does that make any sense? i guess i'm in awe)

Author's Response: Okay I'm really glad you liked the whole Katy part, because I was a little unsure of it.  Good to know you enjoyed it!  Thanks so much for reading :)

How I wish Casino Night ended this way.  I'm all for Fancy New Beesly - but I could have done without the S3 angst.  So excited to see what you have in store!

Author's Response: Thanks so much!  I agree, S3 was just a tad too depressing for my tastes.  But glad you're enjoying this!

The thing about self-imposed exiles is that they're very, very lonely. Also, one tends to miss out on things like this. And I just couldn't stay away any longer, because this story is just so fantastic! Really, prouder of you I could not be. :)

Oh, and this line right here? "We're just two friends saying goodbye the only way we know how." Wow. That's really good. :)

Author's Response: Thanks Mose :)  It's been quite strange not having you around but I hope that the time you're taking for yourself is helping.  Thanks for the support, as always!

Awww... holding hands.
I love this for many reasons, one being because it is told from Jim's perspective, in first person. It is a fun point of view, and seems very Jim so far. Nice job!

Author's Response: Glad to hear that I'm staying true to our favorite shaggy-haired paper salesman :)  Thanks for reading!

Great!  Just the the TV show '24', you give us a little tease of the next hour!

P.S.  This is great.  I cannot wait to see more of this.  Or the premiere, so I can see Pam & Jim together for realsies.

Author's Response: Amen, sister.  At least this gives me something to do so I don't go crazy waiting for the premiere (8 more days!!!!)  Thanks for reading as always!

Oohh, I'm loving it so far. This was my favorite part:
But she’s full of surprises tonight and gingerly takes mine in her own.  And with a gentle tug, she’s walking beside me instead of following behind.

Can't wait for more!

Author's Response: More is on the way!  Thanks for reading!

This is such a great idea! You're so good at the banter, it feels so natural. I always wish your chapters were longer! One thing though, I think in the deleted scenes for Casino Night, Jim says his charity is the Lackawanna County Volunteer Sherrifs. But, Habitat for Humanity works, too! Can't wait for another hour :-)

Author's Response: Oh man, sudzy with the details!  You are absolutely right, I forgot about that.  I just pictured Jim being all burly and manly and building houses and...well you know :)  Thanks so much for reading and there's more to come soon!
