“She was never with him, not the real him. She wouldn’t even have liked the real him. He was an invention, the man she fell for and it’s hard to feel guilty when he feels like someone else entirely, barely recognizable as the man she followed to Pennsylvania.”

You just singlehandedly absolved all the guilt I’ve been feeling about poor Karen. This is so spot on and I’ll never forget it.

Thanks for writing this, it was truly beautiful.

“She wonders if he misses being the guy who didn’t care about his job any more than was absolutely necessary to not get fired. She wonders if he hates the man he was. She wonders if she made him hate the man he was.”

oh my GAWD my heart 💔💔💔

“He still smiles and makes his little faces to the camera. To everyone else, he's still Jim. She's always known him better than everyone else. She knows the truth. She sees it in the clear bottle of water, in buttoned up sleeves, in each of the jelly beans she topped up this morning, left in their box.

She knows it has to be her.”

This whole thing is so good, but this chapter in particular broke me. Ugh. Wonderful work.

The dual POVs here made this so much more painful - knowing they were recognizing these missed moments right along with the audience and with each other.

Loved it! I really liked that you used "more than that" again to describe the people they are now together. Really wonderful series. Thanks!

I never really thought about it, but Jim really forced Pam to make a move past Roy with his confession. What an amazing gift that he gave her even costing him so much personal pain. Cool. Thanks for this one!

This is your best one! I think you are spot-on with Jim. Loved it.

I laughed at the line, "Karen says something pointless". Interesting that Jim seems to have all his emotional moments in parking lots! Nice job!

I love this one too. I love the idea that Jim picked the "teapot" in the end just like Pam did the year before and that Michael, without even trying, helps Jim see the truth. Really nice!

I really like this one a lot. You really have captured what Jim and Pam were probably thinking during those interactions.

This is really nice. Your ideas about what happened off camera seem very realistic. Good job!

*claps enthusiastically* The perfect ending to a wonderful series. Well done, really. I love the format and the concept and I think you did a really good job of slipping inside their heads.

"She’s already lost him. Nothing can be worse than that."

This was such an awesome chapter. I love your backstory about Pam's courage that night. I've really enjoyed this and hate to see it with just one chapter left.

Author's Response: Thanks so much for your review! The last chapter was actually posted a few days ago so this story is now complete :)

An excellent end to an excellent story.  I love the parallels in their thoughts in this chapter (finally!).

Also, the way you weave their past into their present is great ("more than that", Hotel Hell).  A few lines in this gave me goosebumps,  like "it's everything/nothing," and finally.  I think the way you've structured this whole story really gave it extra impact.  Not a single line is superfluous, and each one is so sharp and full of meaning.

And, hey look, a shiny ribbon!  I've been expecting it to show up. :)

Author's Response: Thank you so much for following this story throughout and leaving such thoughtful, positive comments. Thank you especially for taking the extra effort to welcome me into this fandom. I think I'm going to like it here. And thanks for pointing out the ribbon - I hadn't noticed and that just made my day!! :)

very good ending to an enjoyable story.  I think you caught pam's situation at the end (the giving him the time he didn't give her) is dead on.  I mean, I'm not Greg Daniels, but it just makes so much sense.  Thanks for sharing this!

Author's Response: Thank you :) I'm glad you like my take on Pam's POV because that was probably the hardest part of this chapter to write. Thanks for following this fic :)

An excellent ending to an excellent fanfic. One of the most enjoyable reads on MTT, in my opinion! Great job!

Author's Response: Wow. Thank you for such a positive comment. I"m glad you enjoyed this story, I've certainly had a great time writing it.

I seriously am tearing up!!! So freaking beautiful. Wonderful job and a moving story.

Author's Response: Oh no, don't tear up! They're getting their happy ending now :) Thanks so much for following this fic.

What a brilliant ending to this story.  I've enjoyed it all thoroughly!  You've delved so well into their heads.  I really enjoyed the dichotomy in this chapter, especially from Pam's point of view.  You described her conflicting emotions so well, like this:

She gives him the time that he couldn’t bear to give her.

Even so, she hates him for taking it.

Please keep writing more Jam fics - you're great at it.

Author's Response: Thanks! I'm really glad you enjoyed the section of Pam's POV because that was the part I really had the most difficulty with. I had Jim's section written way before I could anything out for Pam. Thanks again :)

A few stray tears and a lot of goosebumps later, I am here to tell you that this was absolutely brilliant!!! In my opinion, you have revealed the very core of both characters. I love:

She gives him the time that he couldn’t bear to give her.

Even so, she hates him for taking it.

I was mad at Pam for so long until I realized how much Jim was asking of her, too many implications for a single moment. This has been my absolute favorite story and you are a very talented author. I sincerely hope you continue writing here.

Author's Response: Thank you so much for your kind, positive comments. I'm really you responded to this story and felt it to be a good exploration of the characters. Since I'm new to this fandom, I feel like know I've got this all down I can go on with more fics about the pairing. Thank you so much :)

I really, really love Pam in this fic, and more specifically in this chapter. You did an amazing job of capturing what I think she was feeling this episode. Great characterization throughout.

"They’re not exactly as they were.

They’re more than that."

To use one of the more common signature lines from the Jim/Pam arc in a way that both caught me off-guard and made me smile was outstanding.  Please write more!

Author's Response: Thank you for reviewing. I"m so glad you noticed that line because it might well be my favourite line from this chapter, and was actually added at the last minute. Thanks :)

I can't even tell you how perfect that was. I've been following this story since the beginning, and really looking forward to this chapter since you started it. Jim's thoughts about Pam, his future, and everything she meant to him was flawless. It brought me right back to last May, and how I just felt exactly like Pam in this chapter - she tells him everything, her great moment of truth, and basically nothing is made of it for an entire week? I mean, come on! This last chapter really just brought me back to that time, and how it ended and there was this huge sigh of relief and happiness, and how the future was just wide open. I loved The Job, and I love this story.

Author's Response: Thank you so much for taking the time to review. I'm glad you've followed this story from the beginning and stuck with it to the end. I had a bit of trouble getting Pam's thoughts down for 'The Job' so I'm glad you felt it expressed them well. Thanks so much :)

shootingstars--For some unknown, never-to-be-discovered reason, I'm a horrible person who hasn't been following along with this story as you've been posting chapters. After reading this, I can only say that I don't know WHAT is the matter with me! I just read the story in its entirety, and it was simply wonderful. I'm kicking myself for not reading this sooner, but while my feet are busy pummeling my own ass, my hands are applauding your wonderful writing and the perfect imagery of this story. This last chapter in particular is like poetry, and you've really got a lot to be proud of here. I can't wait to see what you'll come up with next!!  --Best, CH

Author's Response: Wow, thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a positive comment. I'm so glad you enjoyed this. I was really nervous about sharing this story because the style was a bit strange and it was my first attempt at fic for this fandom. Needless to say the welcome has been wonderful. Thanks again :)
