Author's Response: Again, I'm glad that you reviewed this section particularly. I thought that Jim just wanted to stop her--once he did, he really was at a loss about what to say, not wanting to declare in front of Roy (of all people) and his very own (then) girlfriend. So of course, Pam misinterprets. But, Pam's mom to the rescue, giving Jim advice he didn't ask for and didn't know he needed. I hope you will continue reading; it should be completed today! Thanks again!
