So many “big issues” addressed with understated beauty. I absolutely love this story.

Lovely! And so in keeping with their characters and their story.

This fic was everything I've ever wanted to read about Jim and Pam and the early days of their relationship. You did such a wonderful job capturing their voices, their nuances, the little way that they are to each other. It's such a beautiful and intimate look at their confessions as they finally begin to be honest with one another.

Thank you so much for sharing!

Oh, this story made me feel all warm inside. I love your descriptions of the apartment, especially the details about the changing light (a small thing, but clearly well thought-out).

Also, you have just the right amount of dialogue -- not too talky, but not all description either. A great balance, and very in-character, too.

My favorite part was the description of the diamond at the end and the reflection of their relationship. Lovely imagery there. I literally sighed aloud when I finished reading.

Just beautiful. It's nice to sometimes take a break in between the steamy fics and remind myself that PG rated can be awesome too. Love it love it love it!

This is why I love them. They're not all heart-shaped boxes and love notes, nor are they completely unromantic either. They straddle this line between the unrealistic-too-far-to-feel right and the platonic-boy-girl-one-sided-crush perfectly. It's just love and laughs and quiet and pranks and all in a great ball of wonder to watch every week.

So raw, so right, all night, all right, oh yeah.

Author's Response: That was a brilliant summation of the Jim/Pam dynamic there, exactly how I see them.rnThanks for reviewing!

yay. I LOVE the whole "a week after we started dating" thing that the writers threw in. Brilliant portrayal of Jim's thoughts though. This is always how I've imagined them

Author's Response: Wow. Thanks so much :)

Wow. I'm in awe. I really like your take on Jim and Pam in this piece. They're honest, content, almost serene in the way they deal with their past, present, and future, apart and together.

It’s everything he wants and he can see his whole life wrapped up in this one person. All the pieces he used to cobble together to feel complete are bundled up in her now, and it should be frightening but it’s not at all.

Beautiful. Just beautiful. :)

Author's Response: Thanks so much for such a lovely review. I'm so glad you liked this :)

He really can say what’s he’s thinking, what he’s feeling, and it’s more than before because now, he can tell her anything.

That makes me think of Drug Testing "you can tell me anything" -- you probably meant that parallel. ;)

I love his answer about the terrace, because it already conveys to her that he's seeing them together too.

It's just really lovely, and so nicely written.  Very flowing.  Nice job, shootingstars

Author's Response: Thanks so much for your lovely comments. I hadn't even thought of the Drug Testing parallel with that line but you're totally right, it's a real parallel moment.rnThis whole story, aside from being inspired by Chair Model, was really built around the terrace part so I'm glad you liked that bit.rnThanks again :)

"The salesman says it’s a big purchase, but he laughs and tells him it’s a bargain for what he’s getting from it." That line was absolutely brilliant! I'm serious! This whole story was great but that line in particular was awesome (: great work! I am eager to read more of your stories now knowing how well this one turned out!

Author's Response: Wow thanks so much! I'm glad you liked that line because honestly it was a last minute addition and I wasn't sure if I liked it so I'm glad you singled it out.

The salesman says it’s a big purchase, but he laughs and tells him it’s a bargain for what he’s getting from it.  Lovely story.  I'll definitely be reading it again.  For me, it really captures how I envision their relationship to be.  I think that what appeals to me so much about the JAM dynamic is the concept that a man could love a woman that much.  It's such a fairytale kind of love, and that makes me happy.  Thanks for this.

Author's Response: I think that's what appeals to me about Jim/Pam as well, that he really does love her completely. I'm really glad you enjoyed this and thanks for taking the time to comment :)

That was really nice. It was just on this side of cheesy, so virtual high-five!

Author's Response: Thanks! Just on the right side of cheesy was exactly what I was going for so I'm glad it fell on the right side to you.

That last line? Amazing. You really made this backstory amazing and the words you used just fit so well. I loved it.

Author's Response: Thanks! I'm glad you liked the last line because honestly it was really thrown in at the last minute and I wasn't too sure about it.

A frantic week, full of quick fire banter and roaring laughter and talking with their mouths full because they just remembered something else that’s too good to wait to share. There’s been fighting, quick and sharp and painful, and even quicker apologies. In a matter of days, they’ve unravelled all the wires they crossed over the past year, attacking the issues like a puzzle to share over a lunch break.
- that is so what that week was like

He was snooping, but it doesn't matter. I love that. Because honestly, I kind of was like ":O" when she caught him, but you are right because it wasn't like that, because it isn't.

If I called “203 - 987 - 1849,”  what would happen? I kind of really wanna try
She knows the number. God, that just breaks my heart. I love that they are happy now, but that entire post casino night -merger time frame was awful (and the rest of s3 wasn't much better!)

I never thought the words "I mean it" would be so lovely and so beautiful

And then the art show. Breaks my heart. I love how she admits it did hurt. God. Okay. No, I am not crying. These are fictional characters. And besides that they are together now. No tears are going to be allowed for past stupid moments.

I like that Jim doesn't lie about the job question to Pam. I mean, I get asked it about a thousand times a day. And the first thing out of my mouth is a lie. But I am not talkin to my Jim or something.

"“What have you been looking at then?” she asks curiously, returning her hand to it’s position over his heart.

“You,” he replies honestly,"

love love love love love love love love that. Would have been more loves, but, ... not enouh of them in the world to describe it.

Wow. The entire story. Just. Wow. Amazing, perfect, everything. Wow.

Author's Response: Wow, thank you so much for such a detailed and lovely review. I can't tell you what would happen if you called that number, but it is a Stanford area code, I googled it. Yeah the thing about not lying over the job question is a big thing to me too, because I lie about that question so many times when people ask me, and I like to think I'd talk about it honestly if I ever met my Jim. Thanks again for reading :)

If you find any person out there who thinks Jim's purchase a week after he started dating Pam weird, just point them to this story.  I think this captures what I believe to be their post-The Job backstory perfectly.  Great work.

Author's Response: Wow. Thank you, I'm so glad you think it'd be worth pointing out to anyone at all. Thanks for reading :)

WOW. I had goosebumps the entire time I was reading this story. Most of the post Chair Model fic I've read has been focusing on the proposal so it's great to get a different perspective.

This strikes me as different from your previous stories, but equally as good. When I read it, it seems choppy or jumpy but in a very smooth coherent way, lol, which makes no sense. But by jumping from the initial frenzy of the first few days to the quiet, from tense confession to calming love you've managed to perfectly capture the emotions of that week. I like the repetition of sunlight and feeling heartbeats, it sets a very specific mood - even though it is a very intimate setting, with Jim and Pam being the only two people in the world, I can feel that lazy afternoon. Can feel its security and love. Just like Jim, I want to keep checking to make sure its real. You did a great job of working though old wounds (the missed art show, her lack of contact) and beginning to tackle the ambiguities of the future. It's hard to descriminate, but I'll say these are the best two lines, both make me a little misty eyed reading them in isolation because they are just beautifully written.:

It’s perfect because it’s not just everything he dreamed, it’s just everything.

All the pieces he used to cobble together to feel complete are bundled up in her now, and it should be frightening but it’s not at all.

I've told you before, but it must be said again, you are a very talented author, a pleasure to read. For that reason, I nominated you for Member's Choice. As soon as I read about it, I knew you had to be nominated and was anxious for March 1st to roll around so I could send it in. Your work is amazing and you deserve to be recognized!!!

Author's Response: THANK YOU! Thanks so much for reading and for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful, detailed review. I always look forward to what you have to say because sometimes I swear you understand my stories better than I do.rnAnd thanks again for the nomination, that was a real highlight of a pretty crappy week.

No, this story is love.  You really have a distinct style and voice shootingstars and I love it.  I don't know how to describe it, but the phone number is a good example of how you come at a feeling or a scenario from a completely different angle that makes me go "Oh?" and then I read that passage over again and I have to stop and really savor that because, of course, she would have looked his number up and then I go "Ohhhhh..." because of course, I understand what all of that would mean.  Really great job and such a nice mood and feeling throughout.

Author's Response: Wow, thank you so much. I've been down with stomach flu these past few days and reviews like this really cheer me up. Thank you for such lovely comments :)
