Your description of Pam's vision of the life they should be having together made me teary-eyed. Very, very sweet. I also love Pam's jittery wait to find out his reaction.

Author's Response:

Ah, you hit the nail on the head.  It is the life they should be having.  That exact thing will come up soon.

Thanks for leaving a reveiw!  Have a good weekend.

HEY! I think that this is an awfully interesting way to write this story.

I think that the turn you took for the story was quite nice. How Jim and Pam haven't seen each other in 2 years and you know, had a reallly big falling out.

I think that the direction you take this story in would be awesome because the story itself is quite awesome. I love it.

Now, to my next issue...

"LD’S
T
DDY"

what does that mean? because I honestly don't know. Hehe

Author's Response:

Thanks so much for the lovely review!  I guess I confused enough people that I will explain the mug in a response instead of an email.  (I thought the white stick with the red plus would give it away.)

It says

WORLD'S
  BEST
 DADDY

VB, that drawing made me teary! Everything about it was just lovely. Thank you for writing this!

Author's Response: You're welcome!  I am so much enjoying writing this story.  Receiving such nice feedback as this is really gratifying.  Thanks for taking the time to leave a note.

OooOOO, I'm really liking this story! Can't wait for the next chapter!

Author's Response: Thanks!  I hope to have the next chapter up on Monday.

I really don't even know what to say.  I closed my eyes and could see the painting.  You did a perfect job of describing it.  It took me a few minutes to figure out what the mug said Brillant!  I honestly don't know which story I want you to work on first this or Cardiac Care.  I love them both equally.

Author's Response:

Thanks so much!  I'm really happy that the painting is being received so well.  This is addictively fun!

I plan to finish this story first and go back to Cardiac Care.  This one will be done in 2 - 3 more chapters.

This story is great. You are now one of my favorite authors. I can't wait for the next chapter.

Author's Response:

I feel honored!  Thank you.

The next chapter won't be up till Monday.  We're going away for the weekend tomorrow and I won't have access to a computer.

As I told you (hope you got my email!), I love this, sorry I didn't have time to beta for you!  I think the picture is perfect; not too cheesy, just cute.  I could definitely see Pam painting this.

Really, bravo!

Author's Response: Thanks, ditp!  Like I said in my email response, callisto had a chance to look it over and give feedback.  I appreciate the review.

"LD’S
T
DDY"

Way to kill me, VB.  I actually sighed out loud.  Loved the details in this chapter.  I didn't expect something so bold from Pam.

Signed, Anxiously Awaiting More

Author's Response: Thanks, NR!  I almost didn't make the painting quite so bold but I decided to go for it!  I am really having a fun time with this one.  It's a nice change of pace after all the hospital stress in Cardiac Care.

one of the best, most imaginative and original stories i've read in a long time! the idea of the painting and all the detail that captures both of them, is just brilliant! please please keep going, it's beautiful!

Author's Response: Wow.  Thank you so much!  I really appreciate your comments.

I really like this fic. I'm wondering what will happen now that Jim has the picture. Hopefully call her??? Maybe?

Author's Response: In a couple of chapters, we will see what Jim does.  Thank you for leaving a review!

Let me just say, wow. You totally blew me away with this. The picture was so much more than what I had envisioned. This line "...he felt a wave of contentment wash over him". And the mug. Wow. It brought tears to my eyes...

By the way, my 15 year old son now thinks I'm a total nutcase to cry over a story, so thanks for that!

Author's Response:

Thank you!  Thank you!  You actually cried?  Now I am blown away!

My 18 year old son KNOWS I'm a total nutcase, sitting here typing away every night.  But thank you so, so much for this review.  You really made my night!

Oh, I love the details of the painting :) Can't wait to see what happens next!

Author's Response:

Thanks, JITC!  I was kinda happy with the way the painting came out, too.  I can envision it in my head, even if I can't draw a stick figure!

I'm glad you're enjoying the story.  Next, we will see more of Pam.

I'm loving this fanfic! Can't wait to see how Jim responds.
It may sound silly, but what does
"LD’S
T
DDY" stand for

Can't wait for next chapter!

Author's Response:

Hi, Noodles:

I didn't want to blow the surprise for anyone who might read reviews out of sequence with the chapter (like when you view all reviews) , so I answered your question in an email.

Pam's POV would be great! I'm always comforted by the fact that there is NO WAY Jim could have been permanently happy with Karen in NY :) Great work!

Author's Response: Thanks, untherapy.  I agree with you about Karen.  Short-termer, for sure.

What an interesting premise! I'm really enjoying this look at how things could have been. I don't think I'd ever appreciated how brave it was for Jim to do what he did- risking everything again on Pam. It's a good thing he did!

Author's Response: Thanks, nqllisi.  Yep, he defintely could've gone down one sorrowful road.  I'm glad you're enjoying my story.

You know false pride can be a bad thing.  I seems line Jim learned that the hard way in this story.  I can't wait to see what he's going to do.  Also looking forward to Pam's side of the story.

Author's Response:

Hi, khand3stooges:

I don't see Jim's decision being driven by false pride as much as fear.  But that's the beauty of writing – the reader brings a whole set of beliefs to the table and has a different intepretation of what you put out.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review.  Pam will be up next!

Okay VB - this is a very tasty story and I'm really liking it. But...don't forget about Cardiac Care, please? Kinda hanging over here. Oh and go ahead and write more for this one too. Not to seem too needy or whatever.

Thanks as always -
MCC

Author's Response:

Hi, MCC:

I'm glad you're liking this story, too.  I'm not forgetting Cardiac Care.  I promise I'll get back to it.

Gifts was originally supposed to be a one-shot.  We were stuck in traffic to the Bay Bridge after that horrible accident on Sunday.  I was toying around with ideas, trying to think of something I could get up and finish in a single chapter.  And I guess I could've just kept it all on my hard drive until I'd finished it but these seemed like logical chapter endings to me.  Anyway, I will write a couple more chapters for this one and mark it complete.  Then I'll be back at Washington Hospital Center...

Very good writing, I always wondered what might have happened if the yogurt lid hadn't done the trick.
Karen never seemed like the type that would force wedding plans, but then, maybe we didn't really know her. *grin*

I'm very interested to see what happens, especially since Pam seems to have moved on much better than Jim.

Author's Response:

Thanks, jazzfan.  Yeah, maybe Karen wouldn't force wedding plans.  She always did strike me as someone who gets what she wants, though.  In any case, she is now conveniently GONE.

I hope you'll like the upcoming chapters as well.

Poor Jim...so glad he didn't take this route on the show! I think a chapter of Pam's POV would be good here...what made her do this now? His break-up with Karen?

Then, of course, I am dying to know what this picture consists of...

Author's Response:

Yep, I'm definitely writing a Pam POV chapter next.  And, yes, I'd think the break-up had something to do with the timing of her overture.

Ah, the picture.  God, I hope it won't disappoint after all the build up!

LOVE. THIS STORY.  What a great chap, VB.  So many good lines.  My favorites:

-He wanted certainty, bravery, recklessness, passion.  He couldn’t base a life altering decision on these tepid, halfhearted signals;

-It was clear, though, that she had a firm grasp on their relative positions on the Dunder-Mifflin org chart and she never once tried to speak to him in their old familiar banter.  Sometimes that made him feel smugly superior; other times, frustrated.  It never made him happy.  Guh.  Break my heart;

-He finally reached Michael on Wednesday afternoon and was told that Pam had deserted them to go to art school because she thought she looked hot in a beret.  LOL!

- It occurred to Jim that he was living with an upscale Kelly Kapoor, one who spoke in a normal tone of voice and speed, but a shallow Kelly nonetheless.  I think that's my most favorite.

So, anyway, end of rambling review.  More soon I hope...

Author's Response: As always, I can count on NanReg for a review that makes me feel all warm inside!  Thanks for the great feedback!
