Wait, let me see if I have this straight - he's indescribably attractive, sweet, funny, smart, affectionate, fun, sensitive and charming...and now he has good taste in jewelry too? How sweet and touching and funny (Todd Packer?) was this? Now if only TPTB could get on board with the concept that their friendship would not have to end if they got together. Au contraire. And, how do you sustain the swoon for 37 chapters? Still in your thrall.

Author's Response:

Hah - if only (no pun intended).  Actually, I think I may be working out a little resentment here for Greg Daniels' Moonlighting comment (wasn't he the one that made the comparison?).  So glad this is still working for you thirty-seven chapters later.  At the moment, my muse is away on vacation or something.  (Or maybe it's just that I'm hyperaware that Spring Break is over for me, so it's back to "real life."  Ah, responsibilities.)

Thanks for reviewing!

Ahhh! An "Only" update and I missed it because TWOP was down!

Okay, I'm calm now. I"m so glad you didn't give up on this story. I'm still waiting for the happy ever after, and that is what this story gives me. It's neither cheesy nor fluffly. It's exactly what these two deserve.

Author's Response:

First of all, THANK YOU for saying it's not cheesy; seriously...I've mentioned before that I worry about that.  And damn it, they do deserve the happily ever after.  (What is wrong with you, Greg Daniels??)

Yeah, the TWoP issues caused me to miss some updates as well - "Squirrel," "Girly Girl," and "The Mole" are a few of the continuing ones that were updated today, FYI.  :O)

Thanks for the review!

Wow...I almost cried in this chapter and the last one.  So freaking darn touching.  Plus...I feel like Jim, I can't believe they are finally getting married after all this time!  Can't wait for the wedding!!

Author's Response:

Ohh, I'm glad to hear that (not that I want to make you cry...).  Sometimes I worry that I'm veering too much on the side of sappy, so it's always nice to know when somebody finds it touching but not nauseating. :o)  Yeah, I'm stressing about the wedding - the pressure, ahhh!  I've got some ideas, but I think it may be a few days...

Okay, this was a great chapter.  I can't type as much as usual because, well, to put it delicately, I'm puking my guts out.  But I loved each and every word of this chapter.  Each.  One.  Can't wait for the wedding day.

Author's Response: Oh my god - that sounds horrible.  (I can handle anything - sore throat, fever, headache - anything but barfing.)  So sorry to hear that you're feeling sick - hope it goes away soon. And I'm doubly glad that you enjoyed this, knowing that you're sick and miserable.  :o)  Thanks, as always, for reviewing!

girl7- I'm sure I've said this before, but I'm going to say it again: your fanfic gives me unrealistic notions about romance!  (this is not a bad thing... I think....)  I love that Jim is so sweet and caring and always thinking of ways to demonstrate his love for Pam (yikes, I actually typed "me" instead of Pam... shows you where MY head is at!) I can always trust that your stories will end perfectly- thanks for another great, romance-filled chapter.

Author's Response:

Not a bad thing - another translation for unrealistic romantic notions would be that you'll never settle.  (See how I turned that around?) I actually felt a bit guilty when I was writing this, because I could not for the life of me come up with any kind of grand gesture for Jim to make -- I caught myself thinking that I'd probably make someone a sucky boyfriend.  (That statement was wrong for many, many reasons.)

Anyway, thanks again, my friend, for all the copious feedback!

Seriously.  Jim Halpert is already ruining me for anyone I meet in real life and you have to write this???????

If I never get married I'm blaming YOU. :)

Author's Response:

Hold on a minute there, sister -- seems I recall you writing a fairly wonderful (and hot - A Series of Firsts, anyone? Guh) Jim yourself!  Seriously, though, somebody said once - either in a review or on the boards - that there should be a Jim Halpert course for single guys to take to learn how to just do it right.  Because...damn.

Thanks for reviewing!  And, uh, are you going to be posting another "moments" type fic anytime soon? (Please say yes please say yes...)

ok, wow. this was sappy but i freaking loved it. i am sitting here actually missing my husband right now. and i just saw him 2 hours ago! should i call him up to come home and tell him it was cuz of your fan fic? hahaha!

you're the sappiest sapster. and i love it. thanks girl7. you crack me up too. todd packer? seriously?

Author's Response: Listen, I'm so sappy you'd think I live in a tree or something.  (That was Michael Scott-level lame, huh?)  Methinks the husband would appreciate the sentiment regardless of the motivation for it - though he might be a bit confused at your...effusiveness.  :o)  Glad the Todd Packer line made you laugh - I try to throw in as much humor as I can so that the sap doesn't just suffocate the readers.  Thanks so much for reviewing!

We're all dying to see Jim in his tux.  And then out of it, but that is a whole 'nother chapter.  How freaking adorable is Jim with the pre-wedding jewlery?  Guh.  Love him.

Author's Response:

Aren't we, though?  And just think, come July, we'll at least get something of a visual. (I'm trying desperately not to be devastated at the lack of shirtless scenes, which makes me sound like such a rotten hussy, but...yeah, that's about accurate.)

Seriously, how is it that you manage to make this better and better??

And, could I please please please marry your version of Jim? Because I REALLY want to.
It's sad and pathetic, I know.
*sigh*
Also, I wanted to say that I totally agree that the hard times that these two went through are making the outcome so much sweeter.
Do you watch Veronica Mars? Because one of the characters last season said one of the truest things about love: "They don't write love songs about the ones that come easy."
Guh. I love it.

Thanks so much for this.
cheers.

Author's Response:

Hah - if I could bring him to life a la Shelley's Frankenstein, you'd better believe I would.  And since I'm already married, I'd totally let the hussies/fanfic readers just pass him around.  (Whoa - nice way to objectify the guy, eh?  Heh.)  I don't watch VM, but I've heard a lot of good things about it - and that quote is really great.

Thanks for reviewing, as always!

Very sweet gesture from Jim.  I love that he gave her something to commemerate their past together.  Very sweet and sentimental chapter.

I really like how you use imagery from the series to bring a specific look or feeling to mind.  For example,  What...?" She asked, thinking for a moment of the way he'd looked at her that night when they'd played poker

I've noticed that you do that quite a bit in your stories and I like that I have a frame of reference for a certain expression or feeling that Jim might have.  You really try to convey emotion with those little callbacks to the series.  Awesome.

Author's Response:

I really appreciate your commenting on my referencing moments from previous episodes, because it's something that I do a lot, and I've always wondered if it's effective or distracting...or lazy?  I just see it as one surefire way to effectively communicate an expression - particularly if it's an intense one (like Jim's BC look) or just the totally-gone-so-in-love-with-you face (like in CN at the poker table).

Anyway - thanks again for the feedback!

OK. The ring in honour of their past (present, and future) friendship leaves me in a bit of a sappy mess, so congrats on the good writing. ;)  And it's such a lovely idea!  Jim never wanting to forget it, because it was and is all so important.  Such a great chapter!

Author's Response: Hey, thanks so much!  Yeah, I was wracking my brains trying to come up with something sweet for Jim to do, and it kept coming back to honoring the friendship.  I really appreciate the review!

Wow, that's some friendship ring!!

Actually, I totally recommend spending the night before your wedding on your own (or with your groom).  No one around to say stupid things or to make you nervous, bathroom to yourself in the morning... all good things.

Your descriptions of Jim's facial expressions and his mannerisms are spot on.  Have you been paying particular attention to such things, girl7?  Like, hussy-scale attention?

This is really nice.   Will we see the wedding?  Will anyone really say TWSS?  Tune in... well, whenever you get to it ... for answers to these exciting questions.

Author's Response:

Heh - I had originally included a comment from Jim re: the fact that he didn't buy her an engagement ring (since hers is a family one), but it seemed to stilted, so I cut it.  And yeah, I spent the night before my wedding (after my rehearsal dinner) entirely alone - spent a good part of the next morning alone, too, as I got ready, and I loved every minute of it.

Why, whatever are you implying about my attention to Jim's facial expressions and mannerisms?  Wait - are you calling me a hussy?  Because I would never.... (My nose is growing by the second here.)

As for what we'll see...I've got a definite ending in mind, but what all I'll include as I get there is still a bit in the air. :o) Thanks for reviewing!

Okay. I can't tell you how excited I was when I saw that you updated this story! I think I let out a little scream too! Anyway, this is one of my favorite fics of all time and I'm so happy that your writing more!

Author's Response:

Ahh!  Seriously?  I can't believe this, honestly.  It's just so thrilling that people are still reading it!  For some reason, I just expected everybody to be like, "ONly? Yeah, that ship sailed back in the fall...."  Heh.  I'm definitely writing more - will be working on it tonight, actually, so hopefully I'll have an update soon.

I actually started to tear up about the same time as Michael - nd then Pam's silent prayers and the namplate finally pushed me over the edge. *sobs*

I reread the whole story again today to get caught back up, and it was such a lovely ride. Thanks so much for writing it, and I look forward to what's to come.

Author's Response:

Eeee!  I keep saying it in my responses, but really, it's incredibly humbling that people are still interested in this; I am so, so glad, because I've been working on it for so long that I've got an affection for it, in a way. :o)

This has been one of my favorites since fall!  I'm so glad you are still working on it.

He reached into the bag as Pam uttered a silent prayer (please don't let it be lingerie; please let it have nothing to do with underwear or sex. Please, god, please), pulling out a metal name plate like the one that currently rested on her desk.

When he turned it around, she felt a smile pulling at her lips. Pam Halpert.

I loved this.  I love it when Michael stuns us all and does something appropriate.

Also, I think you should write a fic starring Jonathan where he finally gets a girl!  Maybe Jim and Pam could help....  :P

Author's Response:

It just makes me so happy to hear that someone's actually glad that I'm still working on this!  Seriously, the break between chapters was almost inexcusably long, so I'm very, very grateful for the renewed/sustained interest.

And I, too, love it when Michael leaves us feeling all...the way he did on the Booze Cruise.  I have such an affection for him/Steve Carell.  :o) It's funny because the response to Jonathan has been pretty amazing -- though some people absolutely hate him, others respond for whatever the reason.  I just love writing him, because I can make him kind of my version of the perfect guy.  :o)

Thanks so much for reviewing - I'll be working on the next chapter tonight!

Jim's blankie? Jim and his mom? This speaks to my inner sap in its native tongue. And Michael's toast...couldn't have imagined a better one myself (wink, wink!) Love how he takes credit, makes chalk-on-a-board comments...then miraculously pulls it off at the end with his gift - such a perfect emblem of their relationship/the office context/Michael's devotion to the job...and he totally gets how much/long Jim has loved Pam. (Now if only Greg Daniels with work with that understanding a little...)

Oh, and finally: I believe he's not right in the head. One of the best, most succinct lines ever uttered about Michael.

Author's Response:

So it didn't break your sap-o-meter?  That's good to hear.  As I've mentioned in other reviews, I really was worried about the sap factor (which is why I made sure Michael's toast was extra-awful).  And did I not tell you in the other review that we were thinking alike yet again?  I swear...now if we could just pool our psychic powers and force Ken Kwapis to put that shirtless scene back in LtW.

And the line you loved so much?  I swear, it has come out of my granny's mouth so many times.  I'm positive that if she watched the show, she'd say that about Michael within in minutes.  And Dwight.  And Kevin.  And Creed.  Heh.

Thanks for reviewing!

ok - holy crap! i think i was a few paragraphs into this before i realized just WHAT story this was. where did this come from? not that i'm not pleased because, well, this is the very first offic fan fic i ever read. and it not only hooked me, it literally SUCKED me in, for a few days i believe. WOW! oh, you are such a sucker for a good cheesy ending huh? loved it anyway. how can you not love something with larissa, and a reappearance of jon (who, by the way, is he single???? can you start writing fan fic about him now, for me?), and nanahalpert and michael's redemption at the end. just perfect. thanks!!!

I hadn't read this fic before, so I spent the last two hours catching up. Its amazing. Its too bad that in she show Karen didn't conveniently remove herself like she did in the earlier chapters. The newest chapter was amazing. The speeches were really touching, and I loved the Pam Halpert nameplate at the end.

Author's Response:

Really?  Wow, that's terrific to know!  I keep saying that in all my responses, but seriously, when I was writing and posting the more dramatic parts of this, lots of people were interested...but it was in October.  So I really didn't expect this to generate interest - it's good to know that people are willing to go back and read the whole thing.

I had to (got to) read the first 35 chapters of this all over again -- so I now have the fanfic equivalent of slurpee headache -- you know, when it's so good you can't stop and that makes your head hurt?  So, thanks for this whole story.  Again.

And do NOT cut it short if there are more chapters wanting to be written.  If you keep writing it, I'll keep reading it.  Especially since what you write is so much more, uh, satisfying than what GD & Co are writing lately.

Author's Response:

That's really, really good to hear!  I wasn't sure how it would be.  I know I started eyegypt's Dazed and Confused way back when, then got so busy that I couldn't read much of anything.  And this afternoon I spent literally two and a half to three hours reading the whole thing (until I had to go pick my husband up from work because there was a bat in his office - hand to god, a BAT...how surreal is that??).  Anyway, I liked being able to click on chapter after chapter of Dazed, so I'm hoping that maybe that's the experience people who read this in the beginning will have now.

Anyway, thank you so much for reviewing!

"But when I asked him that, he answered simply, ‘She’s it.’"    Ooh that gave me shivers. I am so happy you decided to continue this story. I had so loved it back in the fall when you started. Can't wait to see how it ends!

Author's Response:

Eee - this is why reviews are so wonderful, because I was really worried that Larissa's speech would come off as too much.  My (then future) mother-in-law gave a similar speech at our rehearsal dinner (except she said Jonathan's bit about being happy to see some girlfriends go), only she phrased it such that she said that she knew the first time he brought me over for dinner that I was "it" for him, so to speak...which comes off as a bit less melodramatic than the way I wrote it, probably.  The six pence thing and the baby blanket are also stolen from my rehearsal dinner (I'm realizing that I'm hopelessly lazy, apparently) - but again, I worried that it'd come off as too schmaltzy. :o)

Long diggression -- all this to say: I'm glad that this moved you, and I'm even more glad that you've stuck with it!  Thanks for the review!
