Everyone carries around secret, shaping pain. I love how you take Michael's pedestrian, shallow "comedy" and use it to explore the real truths of our characters. Gorgeous prose, delicate content. Another amazing entry in the series.

I really loved what you did with this, I always wondered how they felt about those things Michael said about them!!!

Annabel this is fantastic.  There's something so absolutely adorable about Jim being called Keebler and don't we all know that fear of a nickname catching on.  Jokes on them, tho! Ha! I loved the rest of this too.  Meredith's memories are especially poignant.  This chapter is a fabulous addition to the story.

I love everything this chooses to be. All of these are wonderful, but the Pam story really touched me. You can see the crack in her confidence starting right there.
Dwight was perfect as well. We can see his blind allegiance to Michael in its bud.
It's nice to see a kinder more humanizing treatment of Meredith, and then there's Jim, trying not to be exceptional.
Lovely, just lovely.

Oh, I loved this. This was one of my favorite Jim pranks ever, and reading a believable and well done backstory made it even better.

Interesting that a moment that was rather lighthearted in the ep would inspire such bittersweet memories.  This is a really unique take on Stress Relief, Annabel, and a departure from your usual subject matter.  I found it sad and touching, Meredith's story in particular.  You just never know what makes people turn out the way they do.  Great job.

Absolutely perfect. I'd forgotten how much I wanted to know the story behind that wire and "I got up there" from Jim in that episode. THANK YOU for shedding light on that.  I also imagined that when Pam said "My back hurts" that she said it in this sort of shrill way...like she does when she's tired. lol.  I love the dynamic you have of them sitting over toast and talking about what flea market they were going to hit that day...just lovely on all counts. Thanks for this!

I loved this! I especially love seeing Pam worried about Jim--because I'm weird like that. haha.

This was amazing! Hahaha... I had forgotten about that prank. It was nice to have this cause I never really gave much thought about how the wire thing was done!

Long-distance isn't easy, but it is better than the nothing that Michael and Holly ended up with. I like the wistfulness throughout this piece.

...It's you you're all I see...Ooo you make me live now honey!  Excellent :)  This is adorable, Callisto.  Partners in crime, these two.  The idea of them creating a home makes me deliriously happy.

“You are very much loved, Pam Beesly.” He closed his eyes too, sliding his hands up under her old pink cardigan to cup her breasts through the thin t-shirt underneath, pressing his chest into her back as she closed her eyes and melted back into him. She hummed and sighed contentedly, and for a minute he considered abandoning the whole prank in favor of going home and doing this exact same thing in the bathtub. THAT, my friend, is delicious.  File that idea away, won't you?  Or, wait!  You could just do an "Author's Cut" of this!

Thoroughly enjoyed this.  Thanks, lovey.

I like that they are lonely without each other. I think subsequent events proved that to be true. And yep, Roy was pretty cool. Another excellent entry in the series!

I love them finding the artifacts of one another, reinforcing that their lives are already intertwined despite the perils of long-distance relationships. This is gentle and soft and full of their love and longing for each other.

Michael and Holly for the win! We tend to think of Jim as smarter than Michael (at least I do), but Michael gave Jim horrible advice that turned out to be exactly the right advice for his situation, while Jim gave Michael good advice that wasn't at all the right thing. Michael should have swept Holly off her feet, and her movie career be damned! Um...or something. Hee. Another great effort, yay!

Oh, I love it. I looove it! I love Kelly and her loneliness and her awesome party. And I especially love that it was douchebag Ryan's idea for hr to screw them (Jim) over, because that is so something Ryan would do. This is really fun and really fabulous.

The cold open is one of the best parts of this whole episode.

My fiancé is twelve. Awesome.

Knowing how to deliver a breech position calf is not only more useful than a trust fund, it's also more romantic.

I love a lot of things about this- the tone, the pacing, the ending, but that line? That line is utterly brilliant. Totally nonsensical and yet wholly, fully Dwight. I fully expect to giggle about it at random moments for the next several days. Brava!

I love your 'Pam voice'.  To pieces.  And the parallel between Angela & Pam (well, love triangle vs. love quadrilateral) is brilliant.  Who knew Pam & Angela would have that much in common?  Well done, xoxoxo.

Author's Response:

I love that you love it - because I really have come to love writing in her voice.

I love most of all that Angela thinks Pam is the office mattress - and she the one who ends up being kind of whorish. ;)

I love the structure here, how all of their lives are playing out simultaneously as they've gone their separate ways after work. There is an emotional continuity throughout, about doubt and regret, that oddly fits really well with the backdrop of Christmas. Auld Land Syne, maybe. Anyway, I very much enjoyed this chapter, thank you!

Oops, long overdue review here.

The way you bridge from one character to the next is equal parts unnerving and genius.  As much as I love to read about what Jim & Pam are up to, it means so much more in the context of the rest of the office.

They are the best team. This is so cozy, so perfect. I think we have missed seeing these sorts of moments between them.

For some reason I want this for Angela and Andy and Roy and Karen

Pam is so great. Funny and kind in equal measure, and those two things do not always co-exist. You capture her spirit here, the empathetic concern that causes that little crease between her eyes sometimes. Love this (no surprise, because you rock).

Author's Response:

I completely agree.  I think she's the bee's knees myself. :)   I'm so happy you can imagine the way she looks here - because that's exactly how I see her myself.

Of course, that's probably because you rock yourself. :)
