I have to agree, this wasn’t my favourite chapter. It was more focused on Pam and that never holds my interest as much as Jim centric chapters do. This says NOTHING on your writing though. You have definitely improved leaps and bounds when it comes to capturing Jim and Pam’s characterisation and you should be SO proud of that.
I love Jim and Claire and can’t wait to see how you have their relationship develop now that he’s a single father.
I have mentioned this time and time again to you on AIM, but I’m really interested to see how you deal with the whole Pam and Roy situation, and Jim and Pam dealio without it being unrealistic and forced. You better be writing YO!

I completely understand. I'm so sorry if I made it sound like I didn't like or appreciate this chapter for its symbolism in the story - I definitely think it needed to be written. I was just trying to say that out of all of the previous chapters, this was not my favorite, I liked the other two a bit more because of the content. But anyways, I totally understand that this needed to be written and how essential Pam quitting her job is to the story. Great job with this story, the idea was so creative and it's very interesting to read!

Wow, what's Jim's name doing there??? I can't wait to find out. I assume that this was a filler chapter, because not much happened, but you needed to keep the story moving - I thought it was lacking a bit of content. But if it was a filler I completely understand.

Author's Response: To make a story get where you want it to go, certain things need to happen, and one of them was Pam leaving her job. I worked very hard on the writing of this chapter, because with an epic story (in length)not every chapter is going to have something huge happen. Thank you for the review..:)

Hi! First - yay an update! Second, I 'yayed' in my head when Pam quit! What a jerk Jeff and Neil are! I'm really adoring Jim and Claire's relationship too, so typical to be embarrassed to be seen with your father in front of your friends at that age. And I love that she and Emma are such great friends, seems like a sisterly relationship, very cool. And.... OMG! Why does Emma have Jim's name written down?!! What is Pam going to do now that she quit her job? Great chapter! I literally can't wait for more. :)

I've been lucky enough to base Emma off a real character that's friends with my mother, she's cooky and wonderful and I love her. And Claire and Jim's relationship is loosely based off my father's and mine when I was that age. I promise an update very soon, and I'm so glad you're enjoying it!

Alright, that's over with. On to the story itself! I LOVED this chapter, the fears and thoughts of Jim's seemed very realistic as were the situations that Claire was going through. Again, I love how the daughter is Claire, which is my name, too. It is so perfect, and I love Claire and Jim's relationship.
Great chapter, and I can't wait for more to come!

Another great chapter! The way you evoke the emotion of the situation for both Jim and Pam without overstating it is just wonderful.! I love the relationship that Jim and Claire share. And I really feel bad for Pam too! Would love to know more about what she's been up to, and also more about how Jim and Sarah met. I'm totally hooked on this story. Very well written and the flow is perfect with the way you broke away to a snippet of Pam and back to Jim. The sadness undertone kind of sneaks up on me in this chapter for Jim and Pam, and really took hold when he had his memory of Sarah at the end, I really felt the emotion there, and it's so subtle. Great job! And also for Claire. I love how hesitant she was when she asked about the Halloween plans. I really like this, and can't wait for more!! Hope you don't mind me gushing, but this story is one of those stories that I am quickly hooked on and I'm so happy you updated so quickly!!

I was very, very nervous about this story thinking people wouldn't like it because it is an AU. I'm really glad you're enjoying it, and I promise an update soon. Claire's relationship with her Dad is based of course off Jim's character, but my own relationship with my Dad at that age, and I think that's what giving me steam. Ohhh, I think I’m going to love this story. Like someone said in another review, it's refreshing to see that Jim CAN be happy without Pam. So many stories focus on Jim being the type of guy who is constantly longing for Pam, and a much as he loved her, he wasn't super pathetic. He could have moved on... This is very realistic. And come on, Jim as a single dad is very sexy – and the fact he’s a teacher is even hotter heee =) Can’t wait to see what happens next!!!!

Oh my goodness. This is so depressing, reading about Jim losing his wife, and Claire losing her mother. But you MUST keep going! This is INCREDIBLY well written, and I'm addicted already! I love all of your description, and Claire's teenaged ways are completely accurate (believe me, I just recently exited that phase). Lastly, I just HAVE to love Claire, I mean that's my name, so I automatically love that name, and I wouldn't mind being Jim's daughter at all. Not to mention, according to your description we look similar...

I am so glad you didn't have him be with Karen and instead created a whole new character.
