::claps wildly::  Awesome, Bill!  I loved it--from start to finish.  The little details were beautiful.   “Thank you so, so much...for everything!”  xo

Author's Response: Oh, Nan...you're making me blush!  But seriously, I'm thrilled that you enjoyed it and even more thrilled to have been asked to be a part of this little gift for you.  As so many others have so eloquently put it, you have been such an enthusiastic and constant supporter of not only mine, but all our efforts as we try to express our enjoyment and love for this show through the stories we write.  And that has, in no small measure, been so helpful and encouragiing, especially on those days when the words and ideas just don't fly from the keys.  So to be able to do this for you was truly, both a treat and an honor.  So thank you!

Such fun, Bill!  To me this reads like an episode. Ah, the delightful PPC tension :D

Author's Response: Thanks, Nan.  And yes, I've always enjoyed watching the dynamics that went on whenever the PPC met....especially the original PPC with Pam, Phyllis and their fearless (or was it "feared") leader...Angela!

Aw, very sweet. I love how early on Jim & Pam clicked and the lengths he went to in order to make sure she had a special day. Just lovely.

Author's Response: Happy you liked it.  From the very beginning ,  we, as viewers saw this very special thing that Jim and Pam seemed to share with each other...and it seemed to me that Jim would find it nigh on imposssible to stand by and not do something to make sure that Pam's birthday would be special.  I guess that's just what loves is....and did I actually use the word, nigh?

Oh, Bill, this was just so spot-on--bittersweet and wonderful.  We're taking a peek at the embryonic stage of their relationship, knowing how it turns out.  So much heartbreak to come, and such joy.  *sigh*

But when Jim said it, in that oddly affectionate and conspiratorial way he had...it was just something else altogether.  It was about them, just him and her...and somehow that idea had become very special to her. Divine.  And there's more!  Woo-hoo!

Author's Response: Yes, there was all that bittersweet uncertainty that needed to happen before...well, before where we got to where we are today.  And I thought, nothing like the idea of Jim having to deal with a "threat" to Pam's happiness on her birthday to get the old juices flowing.  So glad you liked it, and I'm just so pleased that I was able to contribute in some small way to helping make your day just a bit more special.  Happy Birthday!

This was awfully sweet!  I could just see young Jim trying to do something nice for Pam and being totally oblivious to how it could be perceived.

Author's Response:

VB, when it comes to Pam...let's face it...the tall guy just can't help himself.  Those syren powers of Pam Beesly...are just way too strong.

p.s.  Just a big thanks for putting all this together for Nan...seems to have been a huge surprise and an obvious success.  So, thanks for asking me to participate.  It's been such fun and I'm having a great time reading all these wonderful stories.

I just love everything about this story. I love how thoughtful Jim is toward Pam even during his third week of working there. I especially enjoyed how Jim told Angela off. That was great!

Author's Response:

Thanks for the kind words.  As you can tell, I've always felt that Jim knew right away that Pam was...the one.  I guess we've all pretty much known that, too.  And, as much as he tried to be cool about what his real feelings were, a hint of his protective side would bubble to (or at least near) the surface on occasion.  I just thought it might be kind of fun to see what happens if he just 'went for it'...and who better to have it out with than Angela.

Oooo, so much deliciousness in this one.  I loved crafty Jim planning all that for Pam and that tear of hers at the end.  *sigh*  I also liked the British Office feel at the end.  Well done, Mr. Bill.

Author's Response:

Glad you liked it.  I just figured , as much as Jim liked Pam...damn, he fell in love with her right from the get go...I figured it would actually be too painful for him to let her birthday be ruined.  He had to try and make it "a good day!"

p.s. As an aside, I have to ask aquestion? Did you get confused by Michael's "rap".... I mean the way it came out on the page?  When I posted it, I had to edit it because it was misaligned and I thought I fixed it...but obviously when it was actually posted it stayed misaligned.   Oh well.   I hope it wasn't that confusing to readers...after all, it was Micajel

You go, Jim! A great birthday and a very good plan for the future!  This was a very nice story. I especially liked Jim giving Angela hell. Well done!

Author's Response: Oh...thanks again.  I kind of enjoyed that part, too!!

Very nicely in-character. I love the hostility from Angela and all the PPC politics!

Author's Response: nqllisi:  Thanks so much.  I've always found the dynamic of the PPC to be kind of interesting... sort of a labyinth of suspicion, deception and intrigue.
